Staying at the Hualapi Lodge was very beneficial as you leave from that spot at 7:30 in the morning.
The expierence was a great time. It is a full day as you leave around 7:30am and return around 7:00pm. You are worn out, but it is well worth it.
We rafted approximately 40 miles on the Colorado River. The first 12 miles or so, is full of rapids and pure exhilaration, the last part of the trip is very calm without rapids, just enjoying the beauty of the Grand Canyon.
Our guides were very informative and expierenced. They provided a nice lunch, that we sat up on the bank, and enjoyed, during the afternoon.
At the end of the trip, is the helicopter ride out of the canyon. Although probably only 10 minutes in length, it is a scenic look at the Grand Canyon that you have floated all day in the river.
The one tough part of the trip is the hour bus ride down to the river, and the two hour ride from the end of the trip. You ride on a real school bus, which is fine, but the roads that enter and leave the Grand Canyon, are gravel and all natural, which make them bumpy and dusty. The bumpy/dusty road, should not keep you from enjoying this memorable one day trip!
