“Great hospitality, convenient for a break on the road to Grand Canyon South Rim from Las Vegas”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

Our plane was arriving in Las Vegas in the afternoon and we wanted to get closer to the Grand Canyon without making our drive too long and avoid tooth driving after dark. Was in the just about right driving distance. Rooms were nice and roomy. We arrived at about 8:00pm and were told their restaurant was already closing for the night but they kindly have us a choice of hot pizza or warm sandwiches to take to our rooms, despite it being out of their working hours. The nearest place to eat they told us is about 50miles away, so plan carefully if your going to eat dinner a bit late. The pizza was very good, and the self-service breakfast had a lot to choose from. We took the advice on this board and asked for a room facing Route 66 rather than the railroad and slept well. They also have white water rafting tours during Mar-Oct so would have tried that if we get the chance to next time perhaps.

Friendly staff. Beautiful rooms with great beds that have down comforters covered in crisp, clean white sheets.

We did hear the trains, but it didn't keep us from a good night's sleep (didn't even use the free ear plugs offered at front desk).

Nice, free breakfast that started at 6:30AM.

20 minutes from the road to Supai.

Thank you for your review! We agree that we are a great place to stay prior to visiting beautiful Havasupai! Many guests enjoy the hot tub after hiking out of the canyon too!

Needing a place to stay before the walk to Havasu Falls, we stopped here. Had read reviews about noise from trains and indifferent service at restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised to the contrary. My wife typically has trouble sleeping, so we asked for a room away from the trains, and we barely heard them after the first hour. We both mentioned that the reviews were exaggerations and we probably would have been okay on the other side of the building.
I had intended to spend the extra five dollars for a hot breakfast, but we both decided the (free) buffet had enough for us. We were happy with our decision, and that breakfast lasted us until we got down to the Supai village for lunch.

My husband frequently travels throughout Arizona on business, and I tag along. When he had to go to Peach Springs recently, we were told that the only place to stay is the Hualapai Lodge. The town and lodge are on the Indian reservation, so if you want wine or a drink, bring it with you and have it in your room. Be sure to ask for a room not on the "train" side, where freights roar by about every 15 minutes, blasting their whistle as they are mandated to do for safety reasons, because there are no crossing lights. The lodge offered ear plugs, which I didn't use and my husband did, and we both managed an adequate night's sleep. . Rooms are clean and comfortable with everything you need, and beds are good and firm. The restaurant is OK. Food is pre-made, with packaged salad (sour cream for my taco salad came in a little tub), coming mostly from a food service. Continental breakfast was included in our room rate of $100. For an extra $5 we could have had a cooked breakfast, but there was plenty of fruit, cereal and pastries without it. For what it is, this is a perfectly adequate place to stay. If we were in, say, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Los Angeles or any larger city, we'd never consider staying here. But, it is the only game in town, and is perfectly adequate.

Room Tip: Ask for one on the "highway" side, not the "train" side.

Thank you for your honest feedback, we appreciate your comments. I am sorry to hear about your disappointment in our restaurant, our items are all cooked fresh and we use quality ingredients. Perhaps you were commenting on our continental breakfast items, some items are packaged for convenience for guests to take away with them. We will be making changes in the upcoming year to this amenity and would appreciate you contacting me to discuss how we can improve.

Nancy

My wife and I wanted to do a 1-day rafting trip in the Grand Canyon.
The only trip we could find was with the Hualapai.
The Grand Canyon Sky Walk is Hualapai property.
So, we wound up getting a package that included the rafting trip, a helicopter ride from where we got off the river up to the entrance of the Sky Walk, admission to the Sky Walk and 2 nights at the Hualapai Lodge.

I have to say that we were a bit apprehensive.
When traveling, we’ve always noticed that when anyone has a monopoly on a location, a service, etc, they can really take advantage of the situation.

Another concern we had (through bad experiences) was that places that you might tend to only visit once (how many times would anyone do the rafting helicopter sky walk combo?) won’t care so much how you feel about your visit as they know you’re not returning. So, why bother?

I can’t say how pleasantly surprised we were to not have any of these problems with our stay at Hualapai Lodge and the other activities we did there.

Quite the opposite. We were made comfortable in every way and that wasn’t easy given the weather!

I wish I could remember everyone’s name. But it’s been a couple of months and we went so many places in a short time. I will always remember Diane though.
She drove the bus to bring us to and from the river for our rafting trip. It was a 2.5 hr trip each way.
On the way back, we got caught in a rainstorm. We encountered several flash floods on the road and the trip took nearly 6 hours.
But Diane was awesome! She really made it as painless as possible. She was so attentive to everyone’s comfort.
She stopped a few times for us to get refreshments, use the restroom, etc. And her good nature really kept everyone relaxed. She kept in touch with the lodge, stayed updated on weather, traffic and everything related to our situation.

Power for the town went out for a while.
So, not everything was functioning when we got back to the lodge. But they did have a generator to make sure we weren’t in the dark. They had dinner bags waiting for everyone and (again) made sure everyone was comfortable.

This is all in addition to the lodge being clean and comfortable in first place.
The restaurant has great food at very reasonable prices.
How many hotels offer that??

We were very pleased all around and highly recommend Hualapai Lodge.

We had a great stay in October at the Lodge. The rooms are very comfortable and love the lodge style decor. Great value for the type of hotel and the location. They have quite a few amenities and you are right in the middle for site seeing.

The food was fast and good. We ate in the dining room several times and would take things back to our room and it was always very delicious.

We stayed here before hiking into Supai to visit Havasu Falls. We were so pleased with the hotel for several reasons:

1. Our flight in was delayed by several hours, and that put our arrival at the hotel at 1:30am local time. We called ahead to notify them of the late arrival. Upon arrival, a lady came and opened the hotel's front doors for us! She'd been up waiting for us. She was so sweet and quickly checked us in.

2. The room was very clean! And, I know this is random, but I loved the scent of the lotion that came with the room!

3. Maybe this is because we were extremely tired (we were on Eastern time so by the time we arrived, it was like 4:30am for us!), but the train did not bother us at all, and we even had a room facing the tracks. The railroad is VERY close to the hotel though.

4. The rate came with a continental breakfast, but you could upgrade to a hot breakfast for an additional $5. It was SO worth it!!! The hot breakfast was delicious.

One thing to note: there are no gas stations in Peach Springs. The closest station is about 7-8 miles / 10 min west of town.

We really enjoyed our stay and we can't wait to go back!
