“If you are looking for a base to explore, bird watch, hike and just plain relax, this is the place.”

Built by the cowboy owner of the property in the seventies, the facilities are clean and comfortable. If you just can't bear to be away from your favorite TV show, satellite TV is even available. But, chances are you won't have time to watch much TV! The property borders on BLM land that is known as Cochise Stronghold, the final resting place of the famed Apache chief. You can hike all over the Stronghold area, right from the rear of the property, and if you prefer can even stay overnight at the Stronghold campground, in the off-fire season. If you are more of a cowboy than an Indian, Tombstone (yes, THE Tombstone AZ) is just 30-some miles away. In tourist season, the citizens of Tombstone dress the part and put on events for the visitors. There won't be a dull moment. After taking advantage of these attractions/activities you can take a leisurely drive across the valley to the Chihuahua National Monument ( http://www.nps.gov/chir/index.htm ). There you can discover even more about the history of the Apaches, and the Forrest Service has developed hiking paths all thru the area for the visitors.
The property is approximately 40 acres, and you will have full access to it all. It is situated a mile and a quarter off the paved road with its own gate.
The ranch house has two bedrooms and will sleep 3 or 4 people comfortably, with one single and one queen bed. A/C units are in the larger bedroom and the kitchen area to take the edge off the heat. It was warmer than usual for the time of year when I was there so I ran the A/C for a few hours a day. The house was built with full awareness of the temperature range of the area and stays cool compared to the outside. You will want to do at least some of your own cooking as the local restaurants are limited. The full kitchen facilities make your stay, "just like home". Sorry, you will also want to do your own dishes. The owner lives right on the property and will be available to suggest additional dining arrangements if needed.
Additionally, the owner was born and raised in the area and will be able to provide all kinds of interesting details of the area’s history.
If you are looking for a real "get-away", this location will not disappoint
