After reading a few of the latest reviews before going to this resort we were a bit panicked. Making a call to them before arrival may have helped get us into a better location. The one bedroom junior suite was clean and nicely decorated with a southwest flair. We did have a flat screen TV in the kitchen/dining/living area but the TV in bedroom was still the large boat anchor type. That was not a big issue for us. The front desk was very responsive to our requests and always welcoming and friendly. The outward appearance of the resort was very nice. It's just the practical application of that architecture didn't allow a lot of sunlight to reach our location thus giving a cold and closed in feeling. Larger suites did have sliding glass doors and balcony or porches but still looked like they were going to still suffer from lack of sun. I guess in the 100 degrees summers this is more desirable than in fall/winter when our temperatures most of the week ranged from 35 to 65. The pools looked great but only got to use the hot tub during this cold week. The location although a bit out of a central area was fine as you need to have a car to survive in Phoenix. Liked their little cactus garden and the horseback riding/western miniature town across the street was a nice touch. Also, Phoenix area is a road bike friendly town. More bike lanes than I've ever seen. Loved that part.

Room Tip: Stay away from new construction area and rooms without a south facing view.

We booked two weeks here as we wanted to explore the Phoenix area for Condos to buy. The reviews we read on Trip Advisor were mixed so we moved forward with the booking. This resort is in a remote location but with a car you can get anywhere in a short period thanks to great roads. We have visited the Phoenix area many times but had not gone to the areas north and west (Glendale, Sun City, Surprise, Lake Pleasant, Cave Creek and Carefree). The staff at this resort are doing a great job! When we arrived we were early for check in but the guest service person said we could check in. She even commented that our original room was in a building next to new construction and that for two weeks she would give us a room further away. It was a second floor single bedroom with no elevator but she said help would be provided to carry luggage up the steps. The living room/small kitchenette area were on the small side as was the bedroom. We usually do not spend allot of time in our room so no worry. The bathroom was spacious have sink, toilet and tub/shower in the one space. The area was clean and in good condition. Yes the furnishings & TV's a bit dated but clean and well maintained. We had a patio off the front that overlooked the riding stable across the street and the lovely mountains behind. The grounds are lovely and one feels like you are in the desert. There is a really large swimming pool area with a large water slide and one of the largest hot tubs we have ever seen! There are plenty of deck chairs and umbrellas. Towels can be gotten at the pool with each visit. The one thing we were really looking forward to was a separate adult pool with its own hot tub. We love children but it is nice to relax, swim and read without "Marco Polo" in the background..... However there was a small glitch in this - as the large hot tub in the other pool area broke and the staff permitted guests with children to enter and use the adult pool and hot tub. Unfortunately, the families we experienced disregarded the fact they were given a privilage and were not very thoughtful of the other guests. Young children with blowups were in the hot tub and pool making our interest in relaxing in it impossible. There were 3 days of this due to the holiday, the part for the other tub could not arrive and families were there for the Thanksgiving holiday with their children. Not sure how the staff should have handled the situation but we reported, as did others and the situation did not change! I am a pediatric nurse and I wonder why young children should be in a 110 degree hot tub anyway.....so I feel the staff should have said they were sorry but no or have some staff person checking to see how the tub and pool were infact being used. There is a small snack bar only but many restaurants and shopping very near to the resort. Our stay was pleasant and we thank all the staff who helped to make it that way. They are undergoing major resort growth so now is their chance to make future stays improved for their guests.

We stayed at Cibola for the first time this past weekend. Though reading bad reviews, we still gave it a try as there was slim pickings in the exchange world for this weekend. We stayed 4 days/3 nights. The property was on the outskirts of Peoria - right off the 303 and Happy Valley. The grounds were beautiful - well kept, clean and the pools were beautiful but unfortunately it was too cold to use them. Our one bedroom Master was nice - like all before who reviewed, we found it was once fabulous but now a bit stained and chipped around the edges. Layout was great - bedroom behind the living area and bathroom w/shower to the side. It did look like there was mold slightly or worn off caulking in the shower tiles. The jet tub/Jacuzzi was very relaxing and clean. The couch had some stains and the table had a few scratches. Kitchen was very nice and fireplace a nice touch. We had four adults and a five year old and the unit was a nice size to not be cramped as well as having plenty of towels and utensils for us to cook. The front staff was excellent and our small requests were immediately addressed. For the price (apx 66.00 a nite), the room and grounds made up for the dings above. I did not hear construction until I was walking around however (only big complaint) was the cleaning staff would have loud conversations and laughing at 7:30 am in the morning right outside the unit. As the walls are not the thickest, this woke us up a few times but again, it was not the worst complaint for what we did get on our trip to Peoria. Also, of note - there is a Western town across the street that they rarely use- it is great for picture backdrops as well as you can rent out horses. We missed the free kiddie pony ride on Tuesdays from 9-10am and were able to buy the boy a horse ride for $10.00 dollars - it was a decent amount of time and the guide who walked the horse for the little one was very nice and had great stories. I would like to return when the construction is done and it is warmer to use those great pools!

This could be an excellent property with a few improvements. Fist to put this review in perspective; we received a free week from Interval International. The cost was only $200 for the 7 nights in a premium 1 bedroom. We found the bed to be comfortable, the most important factor for a hotel. Most of the furniture was dated, especially the TV’s. Both were not flat screen had had poor pictures. For the most part, the accommodations were clean, except for the surface of the vanity in the bedroom bath. The lighting in the guest bath was poor and the exhaust fan was extremely noisy. Also the rooms did not have Wi-Fi. You could attach with a cable, however the cost was .35/minute, just short of $20/hr. We also thought the property was a little out of the way. The people we dealt with were pleasant and helpful. I would return for a $200/week, but I would think long and hard about paying full price.

Room Tip: Entry into first floor room was easiy.

My wife and I stayed here for ten days. The grounds and buildings are beautifully kept. The suites interiors are fairly well kept, but not perfect. We are here on timeshare and expected a total five star experience. Everyone employed here, that we dealt with, was excellent. The issues lie with the dated interiors of the units. The TV's are old CRT style or in one case an old RCA rear projection type. The carpets are worn or holy in spots. Tiles need regrouting. Windows are filthy. We enjoyed the facility but will not stay here again.
