When I visited the DBG the Chihuly glass installations were carefully placed throughout the gardens. Playing "find the Chihuly" added interest to something that might otherwise have gotten a little redundant. The timed ticket entry and going in the morning kept it from feeling too crowded, after lunch the gardens seemed to be so full it would be hard to take pictures. The cafe was a delicious and very scenic place for lunch. There isn't much shade so this place is best visited earlier or later in the day, or in the winter. Free parking. Located in Papago Park near the Zoo.

I am spoiled in that I have the Chicago Botanic Garden in "my backyard" but this was a great experience seeing desert fauna and beautiful art all together. Back home there is still snow on the ground but here it was sunny and 90. What more could you want.

We've been here twice in the daytime and once at night. It has been fun and different and educational every time. It didn't hurt that the flamboyant Chihuly glassworks extravaganza was occurring at the time. There are sights and experiences for just about every taste. Food and snacks are available in several locations; standard museum fare - tasty and a bit overpriced but still worth trying. I can see how people become hooked on the place and return again and again.

I was blown away by this botanical garden. The showing of local plants was really amazing. I was in awe of some of the cacti! We were there when the Chihuly installation was there. The glass sculptures really accented the plants. We also got to partake in a "butterfly opening" at the butterfly pavilion; whenever they receive a new shipment of butterflies they have guest assist in opening their packages! It was so much fun to open the little packages and have the butterflies fly out.

A great experience!

After you have spent the day at the Museum of Musical Instruments, go after 5 pm to the Botanical Gardens. It will be cooler then, and the birds and animals will all come out to play. This is a first class garden, absolutely beautiful. At times we felt like we were in the middle of the desert by ourselves, it is so peaceful! The desert wildflower garden was beautiful in July, it must be extraordinary in the spring. Highly recommended.
