This is a beautiful property, in a great location. It has a lovely atrium, great complimentary breakfast, free happy hour, and nice rooms. But...can you believe??? -- THEY CHARGE FOR WIFI. This very basic component of any contemporary hotel stay is not provided free, even in the lobby. They charge you $14 per day to connect to their network (which is a very slow one at that). This is insane. Even most $40/night flophouse motels now give free wifi, not to mention McDonalds and Starbucks. Also, I've stayed at many other Hilton properties and have never had a charge for WiFi. What are these people thinking????
Next bad surprise -- they charge $7/day for parking. Hey -- this is not a big city hotel smack in the middle of the central business district. This is in an outlying shopping/business area, about 7 miles from downtown Phoenix, across the street from a shopping mall. When I book at a "suites" type of property, I am thinking "upscale motel". I'm looking for comfort and convenience. Pay-to-park does not fit with my idea of convenience -- does it with yours?
If the owners of this property (Hilton I assume) need to get a certain amount of revenue to support the business, then they should set their rates appropriately rather than hit their guests with all of these extra charges for services which should be included in the basic package.
