“Cheap and comfy”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

We booked this after our travel plans were disrupted in NYC after very little research (not my normal modus operandi). It was cheap and central, important because we were getting in fairly late and leaving relatively early in the morning. We had to knock on the window as the desk was unattended, but someone appeared fairly quickly, checked us in, and we were in our room within 5 mins. The room was basic but had everything we needed. In the morning there was a basic breakfast provided, and check out was also quick and easy. A good choice for a quick stay.

Excellent location in downtown Phoenix in walking distance to the centre of town. Walked in and out of town at night, most of the walk is well lit with lots of people around so you feel safe. We had a clean, spacious room with great views of the city. Breakfast is minimal but for the price the stay is great value! Would highly recommend!

Great place to stay and enjoy all of what the big city of Phoenix has to offer. This hotel is not in the middle of town, but a couple of blocks from all of the action. It is next door to a fire station and that is the only source of noise that we encountered, and I slept right through it. It is a very secure hotel with all but maybe three rooms that are inside rooms. Very clean and well kept. A small breakfast with coffee is set out every morning. The staff is friendly and was very informative and gave us a map on how to get to the convention that we were there for. The only thing that I saw as a possible problem would be that we never saw an elevator. You might keep that in mind if going up a few stairs will be a problem. It was a great stay and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 205 does not have rooms close by. It is right by the stairs that go to the lobby. Good room.

Don't judge this gem by its stars. For one-third of the price, we stayed as comfortably as our colleagues who paid a premium to stay at a four-star hotel downtown. We were a comfortable walk away from all the conference facilities, the restaurants, mall, shops, theaters and sports venues. The room was clean, neat and comfortable. The proprietor was friendly and extremely helpful. If you're in Phoenix for business or would like to visit just to see the city, this hotel will meet all your needs at a price that won't break your budget. Highly recommend.

For a motel in this price range we couldn't have more pleased. It was super clean, the desk clerk was very friendly/courteous, and a nice little continental breakfast was provided. I would stay there again.

I had a nice stay in Phoenix at Budget Lodge Downtown Phoenix. The customer service and house keeping services were excellent.in Budget Lodge.Very reasonably priced too for a motel located close to Downtown,

Room Tip: I prefer rooms on the upper floor. They were quieter. The motel is located at 402 West Van Buren Str...

Stayed here for a week after Thanksgiving attending a bridge tournament at the Hyatt. Was about a 5-block (1/2 mile, 10 minute) walk. Neighborhood looks weird, but it really was OK. Rooms appeared to be recently refurbished - tiled shower (good water pressure), clean, newish carpeting. Free WiFi. Friendly staff. VERY quiet. Big TV with HBO. Interestingly, NO drawers for clothes at all... "Breakfast" was coffee, juice and fruit. But it was something. If you don't mind the walk, this is a very economical alternative to the high-priced downtown hotels.
