The hotel is beautiful. Was here for a business trip and it did not disappoint. The rooms are nice, the pool is amazing and there are plenty of places to eat. I hope to return soon to explore the area more.

I've loved staying here...great service and gorgeous comfortable rooms. Also the food is great! It is rather pricey however. Several good dining options. Also there are great facilities for conferences.

I can't wait to come back next year. I was in town for a conference and a medical school graduation. We switched to this hotel for the Gala and Graduation which were held at the venue. I wish I had stayed here the whole time. It was like a little bit of paradise or an oasis in the desert. Beautifully appointed rooms with comfortable beds and linens. Unparalleled service with EVERY staff member greeting you personally, even just walking through the lobby. The outside seating with live music during happy hour and beyond was so relaxing. Even in 100 degree weather, it was nice with the cool mist flowing down. Loved seeing the bunnies and quail in the cool mornings around the grounds. The pools were awesome with many family friendly activities. I can't wait to bring my family back next year!

Room Tip: Try to get the highest floors (either 5th or 6th) with no one above you. It will make the balcony e...

The J.W. was, until recently, the largest hotel in the Phoenix metro (replaced by the downtown Sheraton). It's a fine resort with terrific family entertainment (the pool area is nice) and solid golfing. It's also right next to the Desert Ridge shopping complex and a few minutes away from Kierland and the Scottsdale Quarter; as such, you're close to all sorts of fine dining and shopping if you want to leave the property.

This is a large property, and the parking is nowhere near the front entrance; as such, valet is essentially a requirement. It isn't the cheapest hotel; however, as with everything in Phoenix, you can experience it for a much lower price in the blazing heat of the summer. Locals come stay here for cheap in the summer to enjoy the nice pool and spa.

There is a Roy's located in this hotel; if you've never been, it's a terrific asian-hawaiian fusion fine dining restaurant. Make sure you have the chocolate souffle for dessert.

Room Tip: You want rooms facing the east. Rooms facing west get nice sunsets but aren't really looking at...

Took a weekend down in Phoenix in April using Marriott ints for a free room. We had booked restaurants in downtown Scottsdale each night, but after a few hours in the resort we decided we didnt want to leave. Great choice of restaurants. the happy hour around the firepits with live music was a real highlight, and the cost very reasonable. Good jogging route around the outside of the property. We will definitely go back.

Stayed at the end of April for 2 nights on a business trip. Hotel grounds are beautiful and very clean. My standard king room was very clean and more upscale than a typical hotel. Pools are gorgeous with lots of room and pool bars were nice. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at night outside by the fires and the the onsite restaurant was very good. All employees were nice and really seemed to care. I would stay here on business again or with adults but not with kids.

We go to Arizona every other year and always wind up at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. A fabulous property with wonderful restaurants, spa, two on site golf courses & lazy river pool + two other pools. Scottsdale is ten minutes away with great shopping & restaurants. Golf courses abound in this area and the weather is perfect in April.
