Wonderful experience at this hotel. We arrived on Thanksgiving Day, and welcomed nicely. Asked about a new deal I spied on FB (gratis parking), and the front desk worker happily allowed it. Room was clean and gorgeous, as were all parts of the hotel. We absolutely loved the wine reception and snacks -- every single hotel employee encountered was friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. The pool was pretty empty (apparently 65 degrees is cool in Phoenix), but we took full advantage and dipped our toes in with a drink from the outdoor bar.

Morning coffee was fabulous, and we never felt rushed. Location is wonderful and City Center was hopping with the ice rink and art show steps outside the door. It got annoying one night and I never thought they'd turn off the loud ice rink music, but my midnight the workers finally did.

We did not have a good experience dining at the in-house restaurant, but I can say they were very accommodating when I returned from a morning run and asked for a glass of ice water.

As with all Kimpton properties, great experience and we will absolutely return if in town again.

I looked for a hotel close to the Sky Harbour airport in Phoenix and I picked Palomar for location and high ratings. I was not disappointed. The room was nicely, modern style decorated, it had a sitting area and the bathroom was big as well. I did not see a coffee maker but they have coffee and tea in the lobby available for guests all the day long. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They helped me with a box to FedEx and they actually went to FedEx to drop it off( the office is a block away). The bed and pillows were just perfect, a firmer mattress ( which I have not experienced in a hotel in a few years) and fluffy pillows. I slept great, without waking up until the morning.

What a beautiful property, everything you could ask for in a luxury hotel. Conveniently located, great service, beautiful clean rooms and amenities galore. Nice coffee service on the morning and free wine hour in evening along with a happy hour in the bar area. Yoga on Tuesday nights

Room Tip: Ask for non adjoining if possible

Pros-

Great location, very nice front desk service, rooms clean and nice and very quiet. (good for business travel)

Cons-

The elevators took forever to get to the ground floor, allow at least 15 mins to get to the lobby so plan ahead unless this problem has been fixed. The happy hour on the 3rd floor was great! The bag attendee was very friendly and helpful.

The restaurant attached to the hotel honestly had the strangest menu I have ever seen. It might have just been the week I was there but I can pretty much find anything on a menu and I struggled with this place. The Valet parking situation if not busy is great but it has a short drive in area that can be difficult when arriving if they are backed up so are you...on to the street.

I really want to give it 5 stars because the pros outweigh the cons but I'm not sure if I would go back unless I had tickets to a game located across the street.

Room Tip: Always go for the higher floors to avoid street noise.

For the past 4 years we have chosen Kimpton as our stay cation to celebrate our anniversary. We usually stay at Firesky but decided to give the downtown location a try. We were glad we did. Upon arrival we were greeted by very attentive front desk staff person, Teri. She noted my request for a pet free room and gave us a room on the 10th floor along with a handwritten note acknowledging our anniversary. Very nice touch. Our room was on the highest floor for the hotel, the 10th (rest of the floors are apartments). Our room was very nice. Loved the bathroom with walk in shower. I agree w/another reviewer re: a/c could've been colder. We enjoyed time at the pool which is really cool and located on the 3rd floor. If you go in the Summer and wait until about 2:30, you don't have to worry about the sun, which we loved. The water was so refreshing even though it was 105 outside. We enjoyed the wine hour on the 2nd floor both nights we stayed. We ate at the Blue Hound for dinner and it was very good. Try the strawberry flatbread, so good! Although hot at night, the location makes it an easy walk to check out other bars/restaurants at City Scape. Our favorite was kitty corner from the hotel, Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlor. Such a cool place! All in all a great stay cation. At this point we can't decide which Arizona Kimpton is our favorite. We will have to keep rotating them!

Phoenix is hot and does not have the great food options or things to do of other big cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, but it is an excellent option for an upscale but still reasonably priced weekend getaway. A great hotel for a reasonably priced weekend getaway in Phoenix is the Hotel Palomar. Room rates are often low (a similar hotel would be twice or three times as much in other cities) and the hotel is very stylish and hip.

Rooms are contemporary and there are great benefits here like complimentary coffee and tea in the morning, nightly reception with wine and a $10 minibar credit and free Wi-Fi for general InTouch members (you need to be an elite member to get these types of tangible benefits at the big hotel loyalty programs like Marriott, Hilton and Starwood). This hotel also has a perfect Downtown Phoenix location; it is within walking distance to popular Phoenix restaurants like Pizzeria Bianco and is steps away from Chase Field.

Pros:
--Stylish, upscale and hip hotel from top to bottom (exterior, lobby, rooms, bar, and pool)
--Very sleek and comfortable rooms with subtle decoration and color
--Upscale bathrooms with great floors and glass showers
--Friendly front desk
--Great benefits for general InTouch members (free Wi-Fi, $10 credit for the minibar)
--Very convenient location
--Reasonable room rates on weekdays and weekends

Cons:
--No door on the glass shower can cause a little bit of water to spill onto the bathroom floor near the sink
--While the room was very comfortable, the A/C could have been a little cooler given Phoenix's hot temperature

I would absolutely recommend this hotel. Staff is extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. Location was great for my business meeting; also very convenient to the sports venues.Room was very comfortable, attractive and clean. I believe this property is only a few years old, so everything still looks new and fresh.

Room Tip: Higher floor if possible - better views of course, and light rail can be a little noisy on lower flo...

Green Features: I hung up my towel (as the placard posted in the bathroom suggests), because I didn't need it replaced, but it was replaced anyway. The housekeeping staff should comply with the hotels environmental standards.
