Three things. The pool. The restaurant. The management.

All exceptional! They will do whatever it takes to take care of you. Don't be afraid to ask. Thank again for the fantastic stay. The only thing keeping this from getting five stars was the pool cleaning going on outside my room early in the morning and the rooftop area being a little dirty from what appeared to be a great night before.

I will definitely recommend this to friends and family.

Oh My God...where to start. I was hooked into this hotel because they say on the Website that it is 4-star. Well, this is not a 4-star hotel...more like 2-star at best. What is this hotel? It is a re-conditioned old motel where they have tacked on some mirrored finish to the front, added some umbrellas on the roof, painted the walls and added some art here and there but, basically, if you dress up a pig, it's still a pig. First, let me say the people are nice. The people at the front desk have enthusiasm for their job, but that's where the enchantment ends. The stairs are worn, the carpets to the room are worn, the hallways and rooms smell of mold/mildew and the room was very very disappointing. I booked a "Junior Suite" and that was a joke because what I got was a regular room with an extra chair in it (a chair for one). The room was painted over cement a dull grey, the towels were old and well-used, the view was a parking lot. I requested them to make up the room at 5PM on Day 2 because we had slept in past noon. And the maid never showed-up to make-up the room. After all this, we just gave up and moved to another hotel. The restaurant in the hotel was nice but prices are ridiculous for drinks. A gin and tonic is $10. These people have nerve to market this as an upscale boutique hotel when, in fact, it is a crapy place that is near nothing much of interest. I paid the extra to move to the Omni and wished I had done it earlier.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel

First of all Yes I know Ben. But the stay at the hotel is a great experience. The staff have gotten better and more caring. I always have a need of more of everything and I am always accommodated. For the price you really can not beat this atmosphere. And most of all it is close to everything in the Happy neighborhood!

Room Tip: Ask the staff and they will tell you about the room. If you know your preferences let them have them...

Perfect for young professionals- incredible staff ( shot out to Shane and Denny) , good restaurant, philosophy products in room, free bottle of wine with every room and 24 hours from Check in to Check out which might be the coolest hotel policy ever. Good job guys!

Thank you so very much for your wonderful review.... and for the shout out for the excellent work of two staff members... just to note, a free bottle of wine does not come with every room (perhaps you were special, or it was a special occasion?), but we are working on implementing a manager's hosted wine hour, with Daniel Pina, our guest services director who is also a certified sommelier. Come back soon and see the improvements we're working on...

Thanks again for the great review!

Sincerely,
Ben Bethel

I want to compliment the staff during the day who tried to promote the hotel as much as they could, but that is where the good experience stops. The rooms feel like dungeons with white brick painted walls and a non-opening old dirty metal framed window. The Jr. suite was a bed and a "chair." Seriously a chair! The bathroom was tiny with poor lighting and an old walnut veneer door. It felt like a hostel or a dorm. Now the pool area was allowed to let the drunks from the bar sit outside and keep us awake on a Sunday night until midnight, that was appreciated and so restful. Dirty 3 star at best, never, never, never again.

The Clarendon is no more than a 1 star hotel. The Junior suite is no better than a single room. The sitting area has no decent furniture. There are two TVs but only one remote. The bathroom area is a very small, just 25 square feet. The small sink is located in the bedroom area. There is no counter space. The closet has no door, just a curtain. The bathrobes are cheap terrycloth

Thank you for your review, though it's always helpful to let us know how your stay is going while still on property. Often issues are easily remedied and the resolution will exceed your expectations. Our wonderful staff represent the best in the industry and they absolutely love to make all guests happy. We are very serious about our commitment to improvement and your feedback about the property is key to us moving forward.

We're a four star property across all booking sites and exceed four star requirements. We have an award winning on site restaurant, room service, spa, 24 hour fitness center, rooftop SkyDeck, Oasis Pool and Cabanas. We also offer a lot of amenities without extra charges (covered parking, in room coffee service, unlimited bottled water & snacks, wi - fi, ironing station, electric car charging and even international calling at no additional cost!)

We have several room types: Deluxe, Junior Suite and Pool View Suite. Though you mentioned Junior, it sounds like you stayed in a Pool View Suite, which does feature a separate living room area and two flat screens. Our Deluxe rooms are roomy at 325 sq ft and our Pool View Suites are really spacious at 500 sq ft. In the living room area there is a pull out sofa bed, a table and chairs, a counter and barstool and additional chair. What type of furnishings would you prefer to see in this area? The bedroom has either a King bed or two Double beds, all super comfortable (guests absolutely RAVE about them!) with some of the best linens on the market. What would you like to see changed in the bedroom?

I agree that the bathrooms need improvement and we're working on this right now. We've already installed new mirrors and lighting and will be updating the other aspects of the bathroom shortly. Most of the closets are being fitted with doors as I write this. The bathrobes are also continually replaced and we'll look into how a less than perfect one ended up in your room.

We hope that you'll consider staying with us in the future, we'd love another opportunity to show all the improvements we've made since your stay with us.

The Clarendon is very clean and nicely decorated. Comfy beds and pillows. The pool area is really nice, as well. It was my first visit to Phoenix, but the area of the hotel seems really nice, clean and safe.
