“Nice Course”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

I have played here several time and every time I have enjoyed myself. Last time I played was over the 4th of July in 2013 was able to get on the course in the early morning hours. Course is very nice, and changeling, greesn were fast in the morning then slowed down finished in 4 hours got placed with another two-some and another single had a blast. I would play here again, course is surrounded by homes some very nice, great view from number 10.

“Nice Course - Bad Location”
Reviewed 26 May 2013

A nice course that suffers from encroachment by urban sprawl. Contrary to photos that show ONLY the few scenic vistas, most of the course is surrounded by housing, businesses or highways. Noise is a big problem due to traffic on the highway or from the adjacent homes (kids crying, dogs barking) and businesses (dog kennel). Course is actually located 1/4 mile from hotel and you must the drive golf cart from hotel to course along path adjacent to street. If you are looking for scenic vistas and a peacful quiet course to play, this is not it. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Course was in good shape. Booked a 4 day stay, cancelled after 2 and rebooked Eagle Mountain and Wildfire (Faldo Course).

“Decent track”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

The course was okay. Some bad spots but most of it was in good shape, just not as good as you would expect for someplace attached to the name Marriott. Restaurant and bar staff was very good after the round.

“Just okay”
Reviewed 15 March 2013

For the price and seeing the ratings on this golf course we expected more. I would say it was just okay. The greens were slow and the course was not in the best of shape. We golfed four courses on this trip and for $30 more we golfed a better course the next day. Out of the four we golfed in the Scottsdale area I would rate this the worst one. Probably don't need to golf there again.

“Golf Day at Lookout Mountain GC”
Reviewed 28 January 2013

The golf course itself is very well laid and whilst it is a trifle short off the championship tees at only 6515 yards it none the less offers a fair test.
The views are in places stunning.
The general condition of the course was reasonable but it lacked the sharpness of definition one would expect from the hype. In fact it felt to me that there was either a shortage of greens staff or a lack of expertise as during my visit I only encountered one green keeper and he was sweeping up a pathway.
We were not told that carts were not allowed on the grass before we started the round which given the severe slopes on this course would cause the less fit to have problems.
I know it was cold at the time of our visit but the staff were generally disengaged and appeared only interested in staying warm rather than communicating with customers.
We booked our round through a wholesaler and had a tee time of 11am, when we eventually found the pro shop to register we were given a tee time of 11.20. The guy in the shop seemed more interested in returning to his phone call rather than dealing with us. He made no attempt to "up sell" us on golf balls or gloves just swiftly dealt with the paperwork without offering the normal pleasantries.
The story was much the same at the starters hut where the chap inside told us that in fact our start time was 10.40 but " we could go now if we liked". We chose to wait until our newly allotted tee time but as we approached the first tee a disembodied voice boomed over the tannoy the names of an entirely different group. In the event this did not matter as our original was 11am anyway, it just demonstrated a lack of professionalism that's all.
The round itself was really enjoyable and refreshingly quick despite the enforced hikes from the cart path to the ball location.
The greens were very true and at a good pace even after the rain at the weekend.
The constant noise from the roadway is another minus when compared to the silence experienced on many other of Arizona's golf courses.
Maybe the staff are more cheerful and welcoming when the sun shines but their lack of interest spoilt what otherwise was a good day.
