We love going to Durant's. There are enough reviews out there to tell you how great the food and service are. Can't contribute much more than this is the place to go to celebrate any occasion. The decor is so San Francisco with the cherry wood, dim lighting, etc. You can't go wrong making a reservation on Open Table for a romantic dinner for two. We were fortunate enough to have Greg as our waiter this last time. He could not have been more professional making certain he attended to our every need. Their portions of food are beyond belief. Having ordered a prime rib sandwich which included a salad and their fabulous bread was more than enough to take home for an additional meal. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation today.

I love "Old Style Steakhouses", always heard and wanted to try Durant's. We came partially for AZ restaurant week. I made the reservation for 7:00 on Saturday. When we arrived there was ample spaces for parking, no need for the valet service. Atmosphere was "Old school", great feel., busy, tables filled and moderately loud.

Our waiter Craig introduced himself, we ordered drinks while reviewing the menu. I took advantage of the AZ Restaurant week menu: A glass of Red Wine, House salad, 12 oz. Prime Rib w/Mash Potatoes, Chocolate Indulgence Cake and Coffee, all for $44 (good deal). My dining partners ordered the Shrimp Cocktail and shared the 48 oz. Porterhouse.

Service was a little slow in the beginning, long wait to take out drink order and then long wait to place our orders, but then picked up after we did finally order. Steaks were done to perfection (needs more seasoning though), mash potatoes (not good). Relish Tray, Garlic Bread, Salads were all good. Dessert was very good.

Service good, food good, definitely worth going for the experience at least once.

We visited Durants for the first time and entered through the kitchen and were warmly greeted. We entered the restaurant to be seated at a table surrounded by other diners whose tables were very close together. Three of us ordered steak, asparagus, and baked potatoes and house salads. One person ordered a large shrimp cocktail for their dinner. Durants special recipe rolls were served alongside dinner and were a big hit with everyone. The steaks were all done to perfection and the favor was delicious. This is a great restaurant for special occasions.

Lunch was great! A little wait to be seated. Food and service were excellent. I would definitely come back again. They bring a soup with the lunch specials!

Wednesday night hosted another couple. Went early to sit in bar/lounge and have a cocktail before dinner. Wanted to set a nice vibe with a drink in a traditional lounge. No such luck. No where to sit at the bar and all tables in bar were for diners, although, they were empty. At the bar, standing room only, could not get a drink, could not get bartender's attention. Most guests sitting at the bar were eating dinner at the bar so no way to squeeze in to order a drink without being rude. We had reservations so we asked to be seated. The place was mobbed, we were seated in a very high traffic area. Felt like a rush job to get us through dinner. We certainly were not dinning which was the intent. So noisy we could not hear each other for casual conversation. Steaks were a C+ maybe a B- . My New York strip was over cooked. Dinner for four, drinks and no wine was about $550 with tip. About what one expects to pay at a high end steak place. Unfortunately, the meal, atmosphere, noise, lounge, rush job to flip the table and service did not live up to the price. In Phoenix and Scottsdale there are so many other great steak restaurants available, I would avoid Durant's and go elsewhere. The hype is not equal to the quality. Won't be back.
