Based on ratings we stopped at Bobby Q's for dinner on our last full day (Friday around 6 PM) in Phoenix. Neighborhood looked a little dicey - but we decided to try anyway. Entered parking lot - found space and looked for the doorway. Seems we entered the bar as there were bouncers and it was pretty dark inside. Fortunately, someone from the staff walked us through the place to the restaurant reception area. Server - Ashlynn was excellent. She told us the history of the restaurant. We mentioned finding the reviews and she directed us to the fan favorites. For our family of four - we had the whole hog heaven - which was an order of baby backs, an order of St Louis cut ribs and two orders of smoked sliced beef brisket. Extras included corn, corn bread, baked beans and my 9 yr old son decided to have pizza for some reason?
The restaurant has a pretty nice menu, and by the course of our meal the place was full of diners. Ribs and brisket were excellent. We had spicy and regular BBQ sauce provided in small pitchers that was excellent. Meat fell off the bone and my wife really loved the brisket. The sides were really nice. The topper was the dessert - which was "death by chocolate" - two slices of chocolate cake that had cake, ice cream and a nut brownie as the topping, separated by a huge dollop of fresh cream. Looked like two orders of dessert but everyone loved it. We had plenty of leftovers to serve as lunch on our last day.
Service was top notch - besides Ashlynn, others came by to give us fresh drinks (sodas and Arnold Palmers) and refill our water glasses. Place is a little dark inside, so I was afraid to go into the light and see our shirts covered in BBQ sauce.
Clearly a nice restaurant and I would advocate for anyone loving ribs and brisket to try this place. We had considered some steakhouses, but this place was a huge success on our last day.
