Based on ratings we stopped at Bobby Q's for dinner on our last full day (Friday around 6 PM) in Phoenix. Neighborhood looked a little dicey - but we decided to try anyway. Entered parking lot - found space and looked for the doorway. Seems we entered the bar as there were bouncers and it was pretty dark inside. Fortunately, someone from the staff walked us through the place to the restaurant reception area. Server - Ashlynn was excellent. She told us the history of the restaurant. We mentioned finding the reviews and she directed us to the fan favorites. For our family of four - we had the whole hog heaven - which was an order of baby backs, an order of St Louis cut ribs and two orders of smoked sliced beef brisket. Extras included corn, corn bread, baked beans and my 9 yr old son decided to have pizza for some reason?

The restaurant has a pretty nice menu, and by the course of our meal the place was full of diners. Ribs and brisket were excellent. We had spicy and regular BBQ sauce provided in small pitchers that was excellent. Meat fell off the bone and my wife really loved the brisket. The sides were really nice. The topper was the dessert - which was "death by chocolate" - two slices of chocolate cake that had cake, ice cream and a nut brownie as the topping, separated by a huge dollop of fresh cream. Looked like two orders of dessert but everyone loved it. We had plenty of leftovers to serve as lunch on our last day.

Service was top notch - besides Ashlynn, others came by to give us fresh drinks (sodas and Arnold Palmers) and refill our water glasses. Place is a little dark inside, so I was afraid to go into the light and see our shirts covered in BBQ sauce.

Clearly a nice restaurant and I would advocate for anyone loving ribs and brisket to try this place. We had considered some steakhouses, but this place was a huge success on our last day.

First time, good food with great service this is a place to come enjoy dinner. The corn bread is the best I ever tried, and our dinner was not that expensive.

Thank Kenny H

Always a wonderful meal and excellent service! The meats have so much flavor before any sauce goes on, which is how it's supposed to be done! Definitely try their selection of Bourbons as well, definitely tasty addition to any of their meats!

To begin with the greeting staff person was terrifically friendly and welcoming, and the server, Chelsea, was even better!

The terrific hot cornbread and fresh brewed iced tea were excellent starters.

We decided to share a wedge salad...glad we shared because it was quite large. Very tasty!

We each had a baked potato which came with our choice of meats and sides. We decided to try the brisket and pulled pork along with the fresh corn and their ranch beans. The potatoes were hot and fresh. The corn was delicious, the pulled pork was the best I have had since attending a whole hog picking feast in NC years ago. The beans were a tad on the sweet side for our taste, and the brisket was a bit too fatty. However, overall the food was certainly good enough to entice us to visit again. Next time we will sample the chicken and baby back ribs.

Really fun location and a bit on the loud side. It is not your typical BBQ pit. The menu is large with a great selection of steaks, chops, salads and smoked meat offerings. The brisket was juicy and tender. It was served chunk style. If you like Mac n cheese, then do not miss it here. It is creamy goodness. The beans on the other hand were, well, bizarrely flavored for my taste. I really can't put a flavor on them other than a lot of vinegar. The cornbread is delicious. They give you a small bag of homemade donuts when you leave....like you anywhere to put them. It was a lot of food.

The service was attentive and timely. You can judge a place on how they react when things don't go right. A server spelled a bowl of something on the floor but mostly on my co-worker. Luckily it was on his boots. They immediately rushed a couple of people to help clean. They gave us some coupons for a future visit. We explained that we were travelers and they took it off this bill. Well done and handled with care.

Good place and good food.

Glad you were a fan! We're proud of our mac n cheese here (in addition to our meats, of course), so I'm really happy you enjoyed. I do want to apologize for spilling on your co-worker's boots, but I'll share your compliments with the team. Hope to see you again if you're ever back in town!

Best,
Chef Mark
