With our conference at the convention center, this facility was included in out conference package. It was your basic Hyatt. Rooms were clean but looked a little worn. Vanity in bathroom had scuffs. Extra outlets on bedside table were very useful. Nice to have refrigerator in the room. Hair dryer in room did not work. Staff were helpful. Nice to have bagel place in building so I did not have to play higher hotel cost for food. Front desk staff helpful as they had self check-in.

I found the hotel to be okay. Valet service was prompt and friendly. Hotel lobby decor is very busy. Check in service was industry standard. Room was standard but towels were pretty shabby. The hotel or it's laundry service should buy some new towels. Hotel 2nd floor restaurant serves tasty dishes with slow service. Compass the revolving restaurant has good bites. Hostess was warm as an ice cube but waitstaff was friendly and fun. Compass is good place to go for the sunset. I would probably stay at the hotel again because I am enrolled in Hyatt's loyalty program if I wasn't if would check in to Palomar. The restaurant In the Palomar hotel Blue Hound has an awesome bar with delicious drinks. Food and service at Blue Hound were very good. Try the sliders and deviled eggs.

For a hotel to charge >200.00 a night, the expectation is: Cleanliness, Amenities, Outstanding Customer Service. This hotel missed on all marks. At 5pm, room was not cleaned. Called for housekeeping. When housekeeping arrived, they asked, "do you still want the room cleaned?".
This is an outdated property that is over priced. A "tired" Hyatt property with sketchy internet connection, dirty, stained carpeting, old bedding, no clock, poor lighting, minimal outlets, (needed to put a chair next to my bed as no nightstand or roomm for a laptop). Not at all designed for the business traveler. Only option is the lobby - and most business travelers expect a room that is "business ready". This property is In need of a major facelift. Should credit every customer at least 100.00 per night.

I reviewed this hotel a year ago and said OK for a business visit but it was getting tired. Well I'm back again a year later and I would doubt a dollar has been spent on the place. It is yet more tired and now I would recommend staying somewhere else. The room ventilation was hard to control and took a couple of days to get it stable at a reasonable temperature. A friend stayed at the Westin which is close by, more modern and much better rooms for a lower rate. If Hyatt aren't prepared to spend some money on this place soon it will really go downhill.

Room Tip: It is a quiet hotel and from my experience from the last 7 years it doesn't make much difference...

Nice hotel with very helpful staff. Great attitudes and concierge was very knowledgable and friendly. Has a nice little "store" in the hotel for any personal needs, as well as trinkets. Restaurant has great breakfast and restaurant/bar was very good also. Not a lot of shopping around downtown but plenty of great places to eat. Rooms a little smaller than other 3 star places but had everything I needed. No microwave but had a mini fridge. Fan on heating/cooling unit was a bit loud but great white noise for those that prefer that. Not too noticeable after a bit. Pool is small and not ideal for kids but was nice to cool off. Hot tub was a bit loud for some reason. Nice little gym with plenty of excellent equipment.

Room Tip: High floor had great view.

Overall, just what one might expect from a Hyatt flagship location. Check in/out was a breeze, the property is beautiful and in an excellent downtown location. The hotel staff, particularly the wait staff in the restaurants was outstanding. The service in all three dining areas was great and the qualitiy of the food was tip-top, particularlry at the rooftop rotating restauant, the Compass, where one can enjoy a fine meal and a 360 degree view of downtown Phoenix. The rooms are comfortable. That being said, there is a big problem in the housekeeping area. This hotel, like many others, has a "green" policy in housekeeping. These policies do have merit as far as benefit to the environment if not pushed too far. While it is certainly OK to use towels/bed linens more than one day if one so desires, being shorted towels after some are removed or having obviously dirty glassware not replaced reflects very poorly on the competence of the housekeeping staff. It is unfortunate that poor housekeeping took the edge off of what otherwise would have been a completely enjoyable experience.

We found the service to be outstanding upon check in, with our bags taken up by an enthusiastic and informational bell man. For a convention or sporting event, this location is great! It is also a couple of blocks away from the light rail system where you can ride for $4 all day. We had a king with a corner balcony, so it was wonderful! Lots of amenities are available if you forget any items-more than what I've seen in other hotels. Everything was very clean in our room, and I appreciated the Green Service they provide if the guests request. Yes, there is only one drawer to put clothes, but we always hang our clothes or leave them in the suitcase, so it wasn't an issue. Great recommendations for nearby restaurants whether it was seafood or Mexican. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Corner king is worth the extra money.
