Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort

I think of Hilton as a nice chain hotel. However, this property is identified as a "resort" and there is even an extra charge for "resort" benefits -- so I expect something a little or a lot better. While the property is OK, I expected something nicer, especially in view of the lovely website photos. Patio chair cushions are stained, ripped and worn. Cabana restaurant was smell and dated. General repairs appear to have been neglected. Property is huge, so it is hard to have a personal touch. The "River Ranch" has seen a better day and the associated River Ranch restaurant has a fairly mediocre menu -- the food looked and tasted like "fast-food." I won't return to this property, but it might be OK for a family with young kids.

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel if you want a true "resort" experience or are looking for elegant o...

Stayed May 4-10th with my husband and 4 and 6 year old.
It was a very nice time to go, very quiet and staff was friendly.
We were in a 2 bedroom casita, which was very nice for us and it had a huge patio.
The only thing I could recommend fpr casitas for them to have "REAL" utentsils, plates, bowls etc, not "STYROFOAM" as you can’t even put that in the microwave to warm stuff up anyways. No point in having a casita if these types of things are not available to use the microwave.
The lazy river did not seem to move that much when I took my kids, had to push them through, there was no current at all. Found that strange, as we have stayed at Westin Keirland and didn’t have that problem. Other than that, it was lovely and the area in which we stayed was very close to the River Ranch area.
One other thing, is that the pools, should be cleaned more often, bugs ,leaves.

My family and I stayed at this resort and we enjoyed our time here.

Our rooms were nice and had a nice view! The beds were very comfortable and the cleaning staff was amazing.

The river ranch was a fun place to take the kids, it got crowded one day and there was not place to put our stuff but the kids didn't seem to mind it.

We ate at hole in the wall the first night did was good loved every bite. We went to Rico's for the breakfast buffet and lived the wide vority! We had a very kind hostess who answered all of our questions and didn't seem iritated about our ignorace. Our server Phyllis was okay. She didn't take the time to listen to us and she was rude to other guest. At one moment she was yelling at the host then the next yelling at another server. The same morning my wife walked by the kitchen opening and she could hear Phyllis cussing and talking down to someone in the back. The next day we asked our hostess to sit us with another server because we did NOT want her again. We were very pleased with our server Debbie she was kind and she chatted with me and my wife she made us feel at home.

Maybe Phyllis should learn something from debbie.

Overall we live this resort!

This property is a lovely and scenic resort, close to grocery and restaurants. However, it falls short as a convention center. The areas are disjointed and difficult to navigate. The central pool area is great for families but creates too much noise for business travelers in nearby rooms.

The layout of this property leaves much to be desired. For example, one gentleman walked into a broom closet while trying to exit the business center area! Signage that was more accurate and plentiful is most necessary.

The lobby tends to echo, and there seems to be an odd selection of music playing at random times.

Rooms were clean, but dated, with a musty smell and feel. The air vent in the bathroom was caked with dust. LIghting is unpleasant. Owls outside awakened everyone before sunrise.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the pool area, as the noise will echo. Beware of step-down on some of the rooms...

The hotel is old and found to be very noisy. There is a lot of renovations going on.

I was there for a meeting and conference rooms were really cold.

There was no conditioner (was half-bottle, left probably by the previous guest), I had to call and ask for them and there was no apologies for the mistake...

On the positive

The people who cleaned the rooms were friendly, The rooms were spacious

Room Tip: don't get the room near the rear end of the hotel.

I went down with 3 others and we rented 2 casitas (in the future we would rent one). The places were amazing, 2 Story and we had an adjoining rooftop patio that both of us had access too. The kitchen had a fridge but nothing to cook with (didn't bother us at all but good info for those wishing to have a full kitchen). There were several pools on the property, some for us in the casitas, some at the main hotel, and the main water park. Loved that we could bring our own drinks into the private casita pools. There was also a parking spot right at the casita for our rental.

We used the car service several times and they were amazing as was the staff. The concierge was also fantastic and helped us get a rental car, find places for dinner, book us golf, and had several other recommendations to make our stay great

We all really enjoyed our time at the Hilton and would definitely stay again and recommend it to our friends.
