“Grand name, Outdated motel”
Reviewed 16 March 2005

Advertised as an International Hotel near the airport and naming itself Sterling, it claimed three and a half stars. Whoever awarded them must have been on a trip to the stars at the time. The half star alone would have been exorbitant praise. This place is a not very well remodeled, vintage motel. There are signs it may have been a Howard Johnson motel or a Day's Inn in more prosperous times. The electric switches were temperamental. They had to be held firmly to assure contact. The room might have been cleaned with a vacuum cleaner sometime during the past month. When a call was place to the desk because of insufficient towels and cups, the clerk reported that she did not have any more cups. The SI is right next to a Motel Six. Stay there instead.

This hotel just proves the theory of "You get what you pay for" is correct. Holes in the drapes, holes in the bed sheets, old moldy Q-tips in the bathroom on the floor (had been there awhile), enough dust on the tables to do an excavation, no toilet paper in the bathrooms and no towels (had to wait awhile to get those after I called). Then, their restaurant. It should tell you when your the only customer at 830AM. The service.. I believe in giving someone a couple chances, but these people (yes, more than one) were not the brightest people in the world. Needless to say, the food was terrible! I got my children a doughnut... pretty simple item... Expensive paper weights! Never again! Pay a little extra and go elsewhere...

Some firends of mine came to phoenix and booked a room at this hotel. I went to visit them and was surprised what an awful neighborhood this was. There were hookers and a guy offered my friends to sell crack. Needless to say my friends stayed at my house instead.....beware...near airport but not a safe area for families. yuck.
