Took a short hike on trail 307 located about 7 miles outside of Prescott off the Senator Highway. Tall pines, scrub oak, and views. Within minutes I felt as if I had left civilization behind. I will definitely be back for longer hike this summer.

Years ago, When thinking about places to live, I told my husband that my dream house would be on the edge of a forest, so I could walk out my front door and be in nature within a few steps. Well, 5 years later that is exactly what I have and it is the Prescott National Forest! There are hundreds of miles of trails most within the cool forest and shade, but there are areas that are more open with vistas and views. It all depends upon what you want. There are elevation changes of up to 1,000 feet, beautiful rock outcroppings, vistas, waterfalls, creeks and wildlife. This forest offers everything for hikers, bicyclists and horseback riders. The trails are varied with topography, elevation and distance. Some trails are a short loop and others are several miles and they are all connected, so, get a map from one of the outfitter shops such as Hike Shack or Manzanita Outdoors and start walking!!

This is a wonderful forest for hiking, biking, riding your horse. The forest is well maintained and offers respite to those of us who celebrate this wonderful National Forest. We all hope visitors be aware of leaving their fires and their cigarettes unattended.

This is a wonderful hike through the Ponderosa pine forest, with spectacular views of Granite Mountain and Chino Valley from the fire lookout at the top of Spruce Mountain. The elevation requires some adjustment, especially during uphill sections of the ascent.

Miles and miles of trails, from a simple walk of a mile or two to the circle trail that goes for 45 miles around the city. You can hike most of it now and the final few miles that are under construction will be finished this year.
