Did John Wayne eat there? Not sure but go to the Palace with a sense of humor and a wannabe cowboy attitude and you might see the ghost of John Wayne. The building is so impressive and the staff obviously has fun working there. We only stopped by for appetizers and a drink (just so we could say we had been there) and we loved it. We had such a good time with our waiter and the apps were good. The peel and eat shrimp were on the small side but very tasty with a better than average cocktail sauce with horseradish. The wings were also very good. I don't know what the dinners are like but, again, have fun and don't expect a 5 star dining experience! This is not fine dining; it's an old saloon, rich in history, with bar food and a Western atmosphere but that's okay. If it was good enough for the Duke (well, maybe if he was really there), then it is good enough for us to enjoy!

From the swinging saloon doors, to being greeted and our girls given cowboy hats to wear while we sat at the bar, we loved our time in The Palace Saloon. We chose to belly up to the bar to eat our dinner. The bartender was extremely friendly and very kind to our 6 and 8 year old girls.

The girls wore their hats through dinner and our server was dressed in period clothes while she filled us in on the history of the saloon (in between waiting on us and her other customers at the bar). When we asked about the alleged bullet holes in the ceiling, she tooks us to see them and some of the pictures on the walls that detailed the history of not only the establishment, but also of the town of Prescott (don't forget to pronounce it "press-cut").

I had the buffalo burger and it was tender and lean, just as it should be. My husband had the Campfire Burger - about which he raved and raved. Honestly, we figured since it was an historic establishment (tourist trap) that the food was be average at best. However, we were surprised at the quality.

The girls had the standard kids' meal fare, but they absolutely loved the orange cream sodas!

The ornate bar is absolutely exquisite - and its story is just a great piece of history.

Loved this place - lots of fun and the food was good. We sat at the bar and had drinks and appetizers. Love the locals that come in with the western gear. We were here every day we were in town.

Good food and lots of old history hanging on their walls. The building itself was very interesting with all restored artwork and ceilings.

After reading some reviews we we're a little nervous of visiting but as it is the oldest we thought we should. We were not disappointed. The food was good and the service was great, the old Wild West things were very interesting to look at.
