“Easy scenic walk”

Very nice park/lake area. Take a stroll, 45 minutes to walk entire path around a beautiful lake or rent a rowboat, canoe, or paddle wheel craft. Or just sit lakeside and enjoy the views.

“Nice loop trail around lake”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

There are a lot of hiking options in the Lynx Lake area. The short hike to the Lynx ruins nearby leads to a raised platform with beautiful views of the surrounding area. The trail around Lynx Lake itself was also very nice, although it can be more demanding if the lake is near capacity. There is also a wonderful little restaurant (Lynx Lake Cafe) at the north end of the lake for refreshment after your hiking or boating adventures. Just be sure to check the hours before you come as the restaurant is not open every day.

“Outstanding hiking, German restaurant”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

The scenic 2+ mile hike around scenic Lynx Lake is one of the great treasures in the Prescott National Forest. One side is paved and the other is a well-marked conventional trail that is best done with hiking shoes. My greyhounds and I frequently take this peaceful hike. Keep in mind that the Forest Service charges $5 for parking at either end (honor system). There is an outstanding German restaurant at the east end - the Lynx Lake Cafe - that provides outstanding views of the lake either from its outdoor area with picnic tables or inside.

“Clean, quiet campground”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

For Memorial day I decided to take my family on an overdue camping trip to Lynx Lake. I grew up in Dewey but have not been back in over 20 years. I am amazed how much this place has changed! Luckily we planned our trip ahead and made a reservation online. We left Phoenix late Friday morning in 100+ weather and arrived in Prescott about 2 hours later to a very pleasant 75 degrees. We passed Costco and headed south on walker towards the beautiful pines then arrived at Lynx Campground. Upon arrival we talked to the camp hosts who directed us to our campsite we talked about gold panning and they provided lots of information and useful maps of the Lynx area. Unfortunately we did not strike it rich! There was a fire ban in effect and no campfires were permitted. We didn't care for that much but we understand. The campground is very well taken care of and the restrooms are the cleanest I have ever seen. Quiet hours are enforced at 10pm and despite the campground being full it was quiet and everyone seemed respectful of one another. There are no hookups available but there is potable water in each loop. You will want to fill up your RV with enough water before you arrive though because as I have learned Lynx is a remote facility and they have a limited water system. There are no dump stations onsite but there are several free public dump stations available in Prescott and Prescott valley. We had an awesome camping trip and we are already making plans to re-visit again soon.
