We spent the day Wednesday moving a freshman into his new dorm and then searched Trip Advisor for a dinner spot that sounded like it had good food but casual enough for a couple of tired parents. We found el Gato Azul and it was perfect! Read the reviews and we decided that tapas and drinks would work. Our server (Leah) was awesome - she was full of personality - her recommendations were spot on and we enjoyed all 3 of the tapas she highlighted amongst her favorites - Green Chile Carnitas (my husband's favority), Gambas Espinaca (my favorite) and the Dancin' Chicken Verde. all were excellent! I had the Prickly Pear Margarita (delicious) and my husband had the Sangria (as mentioned in other reviews - very, very good). Did I mention that Leah was a great waitress? service, food, drink and the outdoor patio convinced us to go back again on our last night and we had another great experience with live music on a Friday night. We'll be back when we come for parent's weekend!

Like I always start my reviews... we've been here for over 40 years. Like most places in Prescott, this is a local hangout. If you're looking for "franchise smiles" and "franchise food", head out to the highway where all the big restaurants are located.

El Gato is perfect for Prescott. This is good food we can't get anywhere else. Barry did a great job on the menu. Mediterranean flare with a huge selection of Tapas. Everything is tasty and the prices are spot on. Try the Sangria, it's THE best Sangria you'll ever drink.

There are certain dishes they make frequently, and certain tapas. We always ask the server what are the popular selections of the day or even week.

People might not understand how small El Gato is. This place is tiny with a decent-size patio for outdoor seating. The interior will only seat about 12 people, not including the bar. The patio will seat about 50 when packed out. Call ahead and put in a time.

We have lived here for 20 years and never eaten here until very recently. In the last month since discovery, we have been back 3 times. Love the food, atmosphere and service is fine. The owner is there and working hard which is always impressive and a great way to insure quality. Busy place so if you want to go on a Friday or Saturday, make reservations.

Very nice atmosphere and the tapas were varied and very flavorful. The waitstaff was attentive and food served fresh and hot. We came without a reservation(not recommended) but the manager was quick to offer a table, normally not used because a high top with stools. It was perfect with good view and overall an excellent experience

We were very disappointed with this cute and comfortable restaurant. Only one of the red wines was tasty (though the server was very patient with us tasting several). We had 4 vegetarian tapas, including mushroom, saffron cakes, black bean cakes and one other. They were all on the dry and bland side. We were so hopeful! The ambiance outside was lovely however, and the service was great.
