“What a Lovely Peaceful Getaway”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

We stayed for 2 days in March, 2014 while on a 3 week tour of Arizona and California and felt the need for a few days of less activity and some rest and relaxation. Esplendor provided us with just that. The setting high above the valley with mountain views was spectacular and the fact that the only noise we heard early morning and later in the evening was the birds chirping in the trees outside our window was just what we were looking for. The restaurant was very nice, again with sweeping views - not quite warm enough to sit on the patio but then you are in the high desert and it was only mid March. If you want a little retail therapy, the town of Tubac is nearby and provided a few hours of lovely looking. The staff at Esplendor was very attentive and particularly one gentleman who seemed to be in charge of the outdoor facilities who never failed to ask us if we had all we needed every time we encountered him. We can hardly wait for our next trip to Arizona and we plan to stay here for a few more days of blissful quiet.

This resort is older and a bit out of the way but that is part of its charm. We stayed as a group of four couples on a golf holiday and it was a perfect spot for us. The grounds and pool were lovely and relaxing and the bar and dining room were great with good service. Close to Tubac for shopping and restaurants. Rates are excellent. The only downside would be the number of stairs to get to your room.
We plan another stay at Esplendor Resort next year for sure.

Room Tip: some rooms have mountain view, some over the garden.

Each week for the past 5, I stayed at the Esplendor. They have a number of great people: Kristen, Jesus and Andrea at the front desk; Shannon, Shane, Sylvia, Charlie and Fabian in the restaurant; and the GM, Tana,is running a good ship as usual. The food is great, room clean and comfortable and the staff extremely friendly. If you get to the southern Arizona area, give it a try.

Rose gardens and fountains such a breathtaking surprise! Cardinals, hummingbirds, hawk in tree off our balcony such a treat! Hospitality for my dog welcome on patio by restaurant so appreciated!
Prime rib, afternoon wine in Saloon, such a relaxing afternoon with filtered music throughout- all expectations exceeded beyond our expectations!

Room Tip: Balcony with view versus rooms on inner courtyard with shaded trees - both nice! Balcony room off lo...

This is a wonderful, yet 'older' resort. Great tennis courts, and wonderful pool. The access from the parking lot can be steep, but friendly staff. Clean, and good value. I like to swim laps. This is the longest lap pool I've seen at a resort.. They keep it at 84 degrees. Eleven strokes for a single length....that's the same as our local public pool.
Quite laid back. Thanks, Esplendor.

Excellent customer service, very comfortable bed and sheets, great pool! Wonderful atmosphere. All front desk employees were great, especially Jesus! The flowers and landscaping were beautiful. Rio Rico is a small quiet area, yet close to Nogales with everything available there.

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view

We arrived early on Sunday and we were able to check in 2 hours early which meant we had lunch there and unpacked early so we had time to drive around the area and fine the golf course for in the morning. We had a package with the King suite and golf and the rooms were very comfortable and in a quiet area with nice views (room 141 & 142). The lunch that day we both chose chili rellonos and they were fresh chiles (not canned) and very delicious. We both had the amaretto steak for dinner and it was also delicious. The service was good and our breakfasts both mornings were very good and they served us within about 10 minutes so we had plenty of time to go hit balls before golf. We have already bought another package to go back in the fall.

Room Tip: We stayed in 141 & 142 on the northwest corner and they were quiet with nice views.
