The mine offers 1 hour tours with a docent. You board a small bus and drive into the mining area while the docent provides facts on ore content, the history of the mine, and current ecological practices. The tour makes 2 stops. At the overlook, you get a real perspective of the size of the open pit and how the vehicles navigate. At the crushing facility, you observe large circular machines that reduce the rock to smaller sizes. The docent discusses the treatments necessary for the recovery of copper and other metals. Wild horses inhabit the property and were resting near a shade tree when our tour began. That was a nice bonus.
