We stayed for a night back in july 2010, we were tired and couldn't find anywhere else to stay so this was it. The lady was extremely friendly and her dog was so cute.
But that's were it stopped for us. The room was so rundown and old and smelt awful, the bed was so small for 2 people. The bedding was in poor condition, but we saw the funny side of it and we had a good laugh.
We went across the road to the bar which is made from cactus which was cool, had a great chat to some locals, walked up to the pizza place and ordered a pizza and they offered to deliver it to us back at the bar, which was a lovely gesture. When we arrived back at the hotel at night, it was really hot so we decided to go for a swim, well, it was full of these flying bugs laying on top of the water, my partner was still willing to go in lol, but not for me, but to get into the pool you had to step over huge frogs (toads) that were surrounding the pool, infact they were everywhere. We saw the funny side to it all which makes it a very memorable stay. We have our own similar problems in the desert back in Australia so we were not too fussed. We still have a giggle about it, fond memories!

I don't know if all their rooms are the same but #39 should not have been rented to the public. The worst smell ( a combination of pet, smoke and old) greets you. The thin mattress lays on a metal frame with sheets that are threadbare. We found hair and crumbs in between the sheets.(We slept in our clothes). The microwave came complete with a dinner left inside from a previous occupant. Under the bathroom sink was a five gallon bucket to catch the dripping. The tile shower was stained and grimy. The fan/air conditioner didn't work. Needing fresh air we opened the window but as there was no screen bugs came in. Could not have left it open all night anyway as it was large enough anyone could have crawled through. The carpet, well, there are not enough adjectives to describe it. Had it not been so late we would have continued on. We are not picky people and have stayed in many low quality places but even for us, this was just too much.

We stayed at this place during a long cycling tour with a group o cyclists. After reading the reviews here I was a little aprehensive, but at the end it was a very pleasant stay. We really enjoyed ourselves. Nice swimming pool, barbecue area and decent rooms. Fair enough, the rooms are not brand new, but they were clean and well taken care of. It was a comfortable stay, and Jeff (the owner) was very helpful and nice. If you are used to 5 star hotels and like to look for minor details to complain about, maybe it is not the place for you, but I would (and I will) come back and wouldn't think twice before recommending it to somebody. I usually do not write many reviews here but I just don't think all these negative comments are fair. Overall, a great place! Air conditioner, clean toilets and beds and a good place to stay with family and/or friends. Thanks, Jeff!

What a relaxed place to stay at. Very friendly and good service. Nice back-yard with a picnic area, swimming pool, free WiFi. An authentic and genuine experience. Let the rooms be older than at the latest travelodge, the atmosphere and the warm welcome make it all worthwhile!

The air conditioner is very noisy and must be kept on to keep the room cool. Your wake-up call is at 4:30 am by the resident rooster. The pillows are the thinnest ones I've ever used. I thought the bed was comfortable, but my husband thought it was very hard. It is a basic room that was clean. Small but we only needed a place to sleep not hang out in. The swimming pool was not filled. I thought it would be since it is August and HOT.

Salome is midway between Wickenburg and Quartzsite, and you may be tempted to stay at Sheffler's Motel if you're tired and the sun is going down. But my advice is to suck it up and keep driving. The rooms are poorly maintained and dirty, the beds are nothing more than metal cots with thin mattresses, and the pink neon lights will shine into your room all night through the blinds that won't close. Some folks may call it nostalgic, but that only works if your definition of nostalgic is old, tired, and dirty. So drive on, or try to book a room at the hard-to-find Westward Motel.

After reading the mixed reviews on Sheffler's we decided to give it a shot. Salome was almost exactly halfway home making it the ideal stop over. Our party rented two rooms. Both were rundown and dirty, and both had large "water" bugs that skittered into hiding each time the light was turned on. The best thing about this place was the bar and grill across the street. We DEFINITELY wouldn't stay here again and we're not all that picky.
