Description: Our menu features prime cut steaks, seafood, and vegetables with unique Japanese-inspired marinades and sauces, along with sushi, sashimi, tempura, and extraordinary desserts. The menu changes regularly to reflect seasonal offerings. Roka Akor Scottsdale offers the unparalleled combination of thoughtful design and contemporary Robata Japanese cuisine. The restaurant’s name is derived from two words: RO and KA. The meaning of the first word is hearth, a gathering place where people socialize and take in the ambience; the latter stands for a burning fire and projecting energy. Roka Akor’s contemporary main dining room provides a stunning backdrop and the centrally located robata grill is the heart of the visual experience. To accommodate all guests needs, Roka Akor Scottsdale also offers a private dining room, private patio and Roka Bar. We visited during Spring Training and found Roka Akor a wonderful distraction from baseball.
+ the cocktail menu was inspired and distinct.
+ The food was similarly unique in presentation, taste, and variety. Plus quite fresh.
+ while listed as a romantic spot, which it is, the ambiance and set-up allowed it to be family and kid-friendly; very tricky to meet these conflicting needs concurrently.

The only area of concern was the pricing. It was quite expensive. But we thought it was worth it overall.

Loved this place! If you like sushi, this place is a 'no brainer'. While it is a little on the pricier side, I believe that you get what you pay for. So, bring your wallet but plan on having a great meal in a great restaurant!

We love Roka Akor and come here often. The food is the highest quality and always fresh and presented beautifully. You can sit in the bar area, at the sushi bar, or in the restaurant. Each will give you a different but outstanding experience. The service is amazing and staff are extremely well-trained. It is an experience to sit at the sushi bar and watch the sushi chefs creating art with their plating. However this is not just a sushi restaurant. There are many items on the menu including delicious grilled meats. The bar has great Happy Hour pricing and the bar tenders are first rate. I will note that this restaurant, unless you are ordering off the Happy Hour menu, is expensive. Just know that in advance and go enjoy the high quality food. I highly recommend.

So, let me preface this review by 1st stating that the staff at Roka Akor is out of this world. The way this restaurant operates is absolutely incredible to observe, and all of the credit for that clearly should go to their talented team -- we were treated like absolute royalty from start to finish, and there is something to say about excellent customer service, always. However, the pricing for the menu, and the food itself left much to be desired. In my opinion, the large chain restaurant Kona Grill is literally a billion times better and has a slightly less expensive ticket price. There is one in Scottsdale as well - if you're wanting to try this restaurant out, skip it and just go straight to Kona.
