“And this is why we come back every year.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2012

I am writing this as I sit by the adult pool, in a private cabana (complimentary, unlike most resorts). It is 11:00, 97 degrees, the misters are on. Angie has already set up the family with terry cloth covers on the teak lounge chairs and brought a pitcher of ice water and glasses. She remembers where we sat yesterday, but it is already taken so we choose a new spot for the day. In a few minutes Jonathan will be by with one of the many treats of the day. We have had pineapple slices, frozen grapes, smoothies, Dibs, virgin Bloody Mary's, Otter Pops, and Prickly Pear tea. The service at the pool is a perfect example of the reason we have come back the last 8 summers.
Check in took all of 5 minutes. We were upgraded to a Superior casita and have an amazing view. Last night we ate on our balcony. A reguar part of our routine here is a trip to AJ's market around the corner for great sandwiches from their deli. The rooms are spacious and along with our adult son we have more than enough room. The bathroom is huge, well appointed and like the room, immaculate. Every facet of this resort is perfect in my book. Dining on the patio of the Onyx bar, overlooking the valley at night is always special. This year we are visiting over my wife's birthday. She woke up to breakfast in bed, then at the pool our pool girl brought a tray of cookies and fruit with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. She wanted her birthday lunch to be at Talavera, which is the resort's nicest restaurant. And of course was not only amazing food and service, but our waiter again acknowledged her birthday with a very special dessert. And when we returned to the room there was a small birthday cake with a handwritten birthday card from the General Manager. (Who had already left a welcome note and snacks upon our arrival). I have written several reviews of this very special place, and never feel let down in any area. You might expect to feel less impressed as time goes by, but not here. The level of execution at every level is flawless. The friendliness of the staff in every position is a hallmark of what they stand for. The facilities exceed every need. The spa and it's services is top notch. The gym has the the best of every type equipment you desire. The tennis courts, racquets, balls, water, and towels are all complimentary. As is the ball machine. Hiking is available on site. Several on site activities (which we always make time for). Stargazing, Chocolate Tasting, Local Beer Tasting, Margarita Demo, and several others. Some will post that the location is too far away from things. But not true at all. It is not right in town. But that makes it quieter and more relaxed. It is also 1000 feet above the valley floor so it is cooler and there are several restaurants and shops close by. If you choose to go into town it is only about a 20 minute trip. Lastly I have to speak to the value that FS offers during the summer months. A significant price reduction that makes it even better. I honestly cannot find fault in any area and highly recommend you put this on your bucket list.

I was pleasantly surprised to find how peaceful the resort was and knew right off hand we would have a wonderful time. The location of the hotel is secluded from other properties which provided a sense of exclusiveness.

The casitas were lovely to stay in and didn't feel like typical rooms. They provide privacy since it's leveled and had great space between other casitas. I loved feeling as if we were the only guests at the hotel by how we were never caught in the hustle and bustle which really contributed to the relaxation of our overall stay.

All the staff we encountered were genuine when assisting with inquires. Upon arriving after check in, the bell staff would take you to your casita in a golf cart and provided a full orientation of the hotel and casita which was a great touch.

A service I typically utilize frequently when traveling is In Room Dining. The only issue we encountered one evening was ordering from the late night menu where the order was not presented the way it was described on the menu. At most hotels when situations occur, it's rare that the issue is communicated well. The next morning when ordering breakfast, the In Room Dining manager acknowledged and apologized for what happened the evening before which made us forget it even happened because it was handle so well. We definitely appreciated sincerity and gesture that was provided. Many times when an issue arise, the way it's handle is what leaves a lasting impression.

We enjoyed our weekend getaway and look forward to coming back to see what else Scottsdale has to offer!

Room Tip: The casitas on the second level provides a great feeling of privacy. I'm sure all the casitas ar...

This is the first time I have ever written a review on anything. We just returned from a 10 day stay with our four kids and nephew. We loved it so much, we had his mom come stay a couple of nights too. We are very spoiled travelers, yet our experience here was beyond our expectations in every aspect. We decided to get connecting rooms and a separate one for our nephew's privacy rather than the big suite and were pampered as if we were in a penthouse suite at other resorts. You know what I mean. The service was consistently impeccable; from our greeting to our departure and everything in between. All of our rooms had a special treat welcoming us and each of the kids by name. Valet was amazing, always had our car waiting with water bottles before we got there (even when I lost my ticket!) Room service was over the top. We ordered it daily at least once and they never messed the order up (for 7-8 people) yet they added a surprise most of the time. We ordered a bottle of wine and they brought chocolate covered strawberries, on the house. Another time, a free bottle of wine with the two we ordered. Desserts or extra bottles of water. Everyone was so attentive and on-the-ball. My daughter got sick and when we got in the car, they had printed out the directions to the urgent care they told us about over the phone. And they even called to check on her later. Amazing! The entire property is gorgeous and immaculate! As soon as we arrived at the pool, we were greeted by the pool butler with pool towels and chilled hand towels. I just can't say enough about it... except that, I did just book a 3 bedroom Pinnacle suite yesterday for my birthday girls' trip in September and I'm about to book a two-bedroom suite as well... although there are nice properties closer in town and there are very nice resorts with bigger spas...we'd prefer drive a few minutes and know that our entire experience will be perfect and we'll be over-the-top pampered, even when we aren't in the spa. I'm beyond excited to go back!! By the way, we have stayed in another 5 star resort in Scottsdale. Although we had no problems and it was beautiful, it doesn't even compare to The Four Seasons at Troon North "experience"!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with any room here that I can tell. Our rooms were first floors and very quie...

The Four Seasons Troon North was a phenomenal place to stay during a recent nearby conference. Everything is exceptionally beautiful, but not pretentious. Our conference arranged special prices for our rooms, so I know it cost us less than a normal stay; but I want to make special note that the resort did that for us. Very good of them.

Food prices, as you might expect at such a high quality resort, were very high. We are not big alcohol drinkers, but we did feel that the wine pours were meager for the price. Food was outstanding.

Rooms were large, beautiful, clean and well designed.

The staff is wonderful and friendly. Felt welcomed by everyone from the front desk to the maintenance staff.

We did need it, but friends of ours took advantage of a day long children's activity for their 6th grader while they went to the conference. The child loved it and the parents were very impressed.

My daughters and I spent fourth of July week here and had a wonderful time. The spa was terrific with great staff, the pool was amazing with incredible staff and extra touches. The room was great plus the upgrade was a nice touch. Food was very good at each location (went to them all). But I think what I will remember the most is just how at home every single person made us feel. Like they say, "no is not in their vocabulary!" i miss it.

Room Tip: Go early to get the pool seating choice you want.

This was our second FS property of our trip and the consistency in key areas was maintained. Staff great - we had one less than perfect breakfast, gave them feedback and they gave us lunch - this is a hotel and a group that understands that not everything can always be perfect but it is how you deal with it that really counts.

Stayed in a Deluxe casita - worth upgrading as our view was fantastic. Room was big and again the bed was amazing. BAthroom was also huge as was the closet. There are numerous rooms with ice machine and laundry facilities- washing machines and dryers (with free detergents available to use) which we used. The only thing that wasn't perfect was perhaps the cleaning staff. One day our room wasn't cleaned until past 3 pm and twice the turndown service arrived early whilst we were still in the room. Once at 7 pm (which perhaps isn't that early) but once at 6 pm (we were still showering and getting ready to go out- it was ridiculously early!)- but they never returned and both times we had to call to ask them to come back for fresh towels. But seriously, this was the ONLY thing we can think of that wasn't spot on, which was a pretty insignificant detail really!

Pool area is great - we particularly enjoyed the free cabanas by the pool given that on a couple of days the temperature hit 46C. Pool service like every FS we have ever stayed at is excellent. Ice water consistently refreshed from the time someone took you a lounger and set you up to the end of the day. It seemed like we had hourly nibbles arrive - ice poles, Oreo smoothies, frozen grapes were just some of them.

Gym is good and WIFI though $15 a day is fast and you can connect 3 devices to it. The only niggle her is $11 to park - reallly FS...just increase the room rate and give me free parking and WIFI and I would still think it was amazing value during this their low season.

Concierge arranged horseriding with Cave Creek outfitters which was great and we went to Old Scottsdale for a morning but other than that used our time here for some R&R at the end of our trip.

Crescent Moon restaurant is closed and is being turned into something else launching in the Autumn but Talavera and the Onyx bar serve food in the evening. Talavera is more fine dining and we ate here twice - very good but equally enjoyed a relaxed burger and wine in the bar.

The hotel provides a list of activities every day and we joined Steve the head gardner on a tour of the property for an hour one morning which was really educational. They also organise chocolate tastings, tequila tastings and star gazing on Fridays if you can prise yourself from the lounger!

We drove out to Rare Earth Pizza and Wine Restaurant on Monday night (5mins in the car) to have dinner. Great pizza, good service and half price wine on Mondays which they will re-cork to allow you to finish on your terrace. There was even a guy playing background music on a guitar on the night we went.

This is a great hotel with fab staff and we would both recommend and return

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Deluxe Casita - bigger room, bigger patio and better views
