“Great little hidden treasure!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2013

We found this hotel by accident while looking at resorts in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. It is great for vacation and business. They have a very nice pool and many of the rooms overlook it. We go in the fall when it is probably quieter, but we would stay there during peak times, too. The management is nice. They have a wonderful breakfast every morning included in the room price and an evening reception that is much more than little snacks - such as pizza, spring rolls, BBQ. The rooms are very nice and clean. I love the kitchen in the room since we like to keep sodas, etc in the room. They have room packages frequently. The hotel is situated in a small strip mall, but it is off to the side so you don't see or hear the mall traffic. It is the only place we will stay. Perfect for a couple that wants a quiet getaway in a sunny state. We have seen children there, but the hotel really does cater to the business traveler. The children we have seen there seem to have fun and enjoy the pool. We love that they don't charge a resort fee!

Room Tip: Check their website for package deals. They feature "spring training" and other specials...

Located in the rear of a chic strip mall this hotel provides a practical room, clean and well maintained. A very nice pool area however there is no pool side food or beverage service available. Room service is provided by the Village Tavern located adjacent to the hotel. The food is excellent and if you have the time the menu and service at the restaurant provides with a great experience. The hotel provides a complimentary breakfast buffet which was beyond our expectations as well as serving wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres in the early evening.

Our family stayed for 5 nights over Spring Break (with 2 young adult kids). We booked a suite with two bedrooms - one had a king bed and one had 2 queen beds. Perfect accommodations for those families who have older children who are used to their own space. The living area with kitchen and work desk was also nice. We had a suite that had a small outdoor patio toward the parking lot. Next time I would try to book a unit that faced the courtyard with the outdoor patio. The pool area is quiet and we never had trouble finding a chair for catching some rays. The breakfast buffet was wonderful (fresh fruits, oatmeal, yogurt, a variety of breads/muffins/pastries, and hot choices that changed daily!) The evening happy hour was a pleasant surprise, offering fresh salad and a hot choice item that changed daily along with chips/salsa, veggies/ranch, etc. - draft beer was good and there was a choice of white or red wine. The service personnel were always around to clear your dishes or wipe off tables. While there might be a short line to the area to obtain your food, the actual dining room is quite large or one can move to the beautiful courtyard area. The front desk staff were friendly; Chris was especially helpful in giving directions or restaurant recommendations. The Tavern next door has a nice happy hour with 1/2 price appetizers and drinks. We also had the best margaritas we have ever had at a restaurant called Bandera in the Old Town area; we're from Texas so this is saying something!! We found Gainey Suites to be in a great location - within 5 miles to many shopping areas and Camelback for hiking. We also hiked Pinnacle Peak - also an easy, short drive. If you take advantage of the breakfast and a few of the happy hours, the price of the room makes a bit more sense, especially with a family of four. Clean, quiet, friendly place to stay!

Room Tip: I would stay in a courtyard-facing room next time.

So we went to Arizona hoping to relax and have a good time and so we did, this is despite the run of the mill parking lot view and freight elevator that came with our suite. The suite was nice, is new, clean and spacious. Breakfast was no better than the Holiday Inns we have stayed before. But overall the room and reception areas are very classy, There is vending machines and that was nice. Now, on our way to breakfast, every supplies closet door, every room being fixed, the kitchen door and all kinds of doors to service rooms were open; the elevator even took us down to the laundry room for some reason, (which I did not mind, but I thought of it odd for a place that tries to be keep it all top notch). So would I stay here again? Yes, but I would not pay the $300+ per night we did, it is just not worth that.

Room Tip: Ask for a court yard view suite, otherwise you will get a very run of the mill suite.

We spent one night in a King suite. The room was nice and accomidated 6 people without feeling crowded. The pool area is very nice but by 2 oclock there isn't much sun. The breakfast was good but the area it is served in is small and congested. There is a small shopping center with in walking distance but there a only about 4 restaurants to choose from. We arrived at 4 and our room was not ready but we were given a late check out which was great. Overall its a nice hotel, a little overpriced but I would stay there again.

This is our second visit to the Gainey Suites. Last year we stayed (following a recommendation from my brother) for a week in room 162 which had a ground floor private patio. This year, we were budgeting our costs a bit so had requested a room without a patio - room 160. On arrival, the desk clerk said the hotel was full so they couldn't give us the room we requested, but had given us 162 instead. This was at no additional cost and really was a saving of >$50 per night. The room is spacious and immaculately clean. The bed is wonderful, the pillows are so soft and the linens are top class. The shower is spacious and well appointed. There is also a full kitchen but we only ever used the coffee percolator. The private patio area now has a gazebo with curtains that you can pull to give yourself privacy. I'm sure this facility will be of more use in the summer heat but we felt it made the patio too shady with the overhead awning at this time of year (but that is me just being picky). The breakfasts are complimentary and extremely generous with everything available both hot and cold. The afternoon complimentary wine and food is a nice bonus. The breakfast room itself is extremely clean, tables are always available and if the place is full, then there are additional seats outside with plenty of spaceheaters to keep you warm on the chill mornings. The hotel location is quiet but central. On the days we were not golfing, we would stroll over the the California Bakery in the Gainey Village for coffee & muffins, and the Village Tavern next door was perfect for lunch or drinks. Overall, we were delighted to be back at the Gainey Suites Hotel and would certainly return again in the future.

Room Tip: Our room had a private patio and wasn't too far from reception so we didn't need to walk too...

We came to Scottsdale for Spring Training and found Gainey Suites based upon the great reviews here on Trip Advisor. We are so glad that we chose to book here and it definitely did not disappoint!
We arrived a few hours before check in and stopped by the hotel just on the off chance that our room may be ready. We were pleasantly greeted by a manager (Maria, I believe? I should have written her name down) and told that we could come back in just an hour or so and it would be ready. She also, without any prompting, upgraded us to a beautiful room with a private cabana overlooking the courtyard area. It was my birthday so it was such a great surprise!

The room was beautiful, every staff member that we encountered was very friendly and the evening reception is a nice touch for the end of the day. When we checked out, the same woman remembered us from the night before. You can tell that hospitality is important to them and they make a real effort to make their guests feel taken care of.

We will definitely be back!
