Reviewed 8 February 2014

This will be the second year that we have stayed at The Phoenician while attending a show held on the property. The first year we stayed in the main hotel and this year we stayed in Canyon Suites. This property is first-class from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. The setting is the handiwork of God and the hotel is the perfect compliment. Extremely friendly staff in a beautiful venue. Slept like a baby after spending time on the patio star gazing and enjoying one of my favorite parts of AZ...the stars.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Canyon Suites only because of the view.

Escaped the winter cold for a fabulous stay at the Canyon Suites! Unlike some of the luxury Scottsdale resorts that are either too big for "real" personalized service or too small lacking amenities, the Canyon Suites had top notch customized service and offered great options for dinning and fun at the Phoenician next door. Prior to arriving, our "ambassador" Jared, sent a nice welcome e-mail and assisted in finding a room with a great view along with dinner reservations. On arrival, he and a friendly bell staff welcomed me by name then familiarized me with the property.

The suite was large, comfortable and had a big balcony for relaxing to a view of the golf course and city lights. Dinner at J&G Steakhouse was delicious within a nice decor (just wished I'd asked to dine outside with a view). A beautiful walk back to our quiet room through the cactus gardens to experience some of the fun and unique amenities they offer - wine, chocolate cover strawberries, and a rose pedal covered candle lit room- wow. You need to explore some of options offered (at resort and Spa) when planning your time there. One can't go wrong with this choice...and I receive Starwood points.

Room Tip: Ask your ambassador to assist you in finding a great room.

As soon as school let out in June, we packed our 5 year old up and headed for Scottsdale for some much needed R&R. Though not perfect, this place gets as close to it as you can possibly imagine!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by an "ambassador" who stood outside on the front porch in the sweltering heat, waiting with a huge smile on her face. Inside, we were seated and served prickly pear lemonade as she checked us in. She even brought out a small stuffed animal for my daughter. After check-in, she walked us to our suite on the second floor (it's only a 2 story building) which was enormous! It is supposed be about 1000 square feet big and even has its own powder room. Our suite was facing the golf course which was quieter than the side facing the pool. However, when we spent one afternoon at the pool, there was nobody else around and the entire property was very quiet and serene.

The Canyon Suites prides itself on its exceptional service and it was very evident to us that they aimed to please us in all aspects of our stay. We slept fabulously the first night, but on the second night we were woken up by some loud banging from the next room. I immediately called the front desk and they said they would send up security right away. And guess what? They really did deliver on that promise because the rest of the night was super quiet. The next morning, I was told that the loud guests next door were leaving. Whether or not it was voluntary, I'm not sure, but I was happy that the problem was solved. How many times have we stayed in hotels where we dialed up security to take care of a noise issue only to be left suffering through the night? Countless times! This does not happen at the Canyon Suites!

They also offer shuttle service within a certain radius in their Mercedes SUV and if your destination is outside their service area, they will call a cab or car service for you. We did not have to rent a car the entire time we were in Scottsdale and we stayed four nights.

Adjacent to the Canyon Suites is their sister property, The Phoenician. Now, this is where all the fun, kid-friendly activities can found. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the giant water slide, the tennis courts and the family room with ping pong table and fussball. There is even a mini movie theatre with plenty of DVDs to view.

We are so fond of this place and hope to return often over the years to create more wonderful memories!

My husband, myself and my sister in law spent Christmas at the Canyon Suites. That was the first time we had been there. We will be going back. We had a wonderful experience. The service was impeccable. I would like to recognize a few of the wonderful employees, Alex Bowers, Mr.Richard Doller, Mr. Jordan Collier, Miss Amanda Estock, AND mS.Danae Hunt. You could tell that they loved their job. The only thing that we did not enjoy was the Christmas dinner at Il Terrazo"s. When I made the reservation before we got there they advertised turkey with cornbread and sausage dressing. We were all looking forward to that. When we sat down to eat, they had on the menu turkey with oyster dressing, and none of us wanted that. My sister in law ordered that because she wanted the turkey. When she was served that it was all dark meat and looked like it was pressed turkey. My husband and I ordered two0 other entrees and they were just okay and not great. We said of all the meals that was the worst meal we had. Other than that it was a 5 star.

DdANAE hUNT. yOU COULD TELL THAT THEY LOVED THEIR JOB. tHE ONLY THING THAT WE WERE DISSAPOINTED WITH WAS THE Christmas DINNER AT iL tERRAZIO

This hotel was amazing. There was various activities for adults and the kids. Some of the activities to choose from were 12 tennis courts, ping pong (table tennis), pool table, foos ball, basketball court, many of pools for kids and adults, a playground, an amazing golf course, and a sand box.

If you are a beginner in tennis they have great tennis instructors. They also have rentals if you don't feel like holding a racket on your plain ride.

I highly recommend this amazing hotel. If i visit Scottsdale again I will definitely come to this hotel!

I have been visiting scottsdale for the past 4 years and have stayed at just about every luxury hotel and have always checked out less than impressed. I actually checked in to the Phoenician hotel, not the canyon suites, about 1 year ago and upon getting to my room I immediately checked out due to the age and quality of the room. This was NOT the case with the Canyon Suites. Upon checking in, we were greeting by very friendly bellman who actually introduced themselves and shook our hands. The man who checked us in was very efficient and friendly. Our suite was beautiful, up to date, with a nice living room, balcony, view of the golf course and a most comfortable bed. The staff was great and the hot apple cider and cookies at night were a nice surprise. The location is also perfect as it's close to shopping and great dining. From here on, I will only stay at the Canyon Suites. Thank you Starwood for a true luxury hotel.
