“Family Week Away”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

This is a fine property in a decent Scottsdale location for a decent price. While this is definitely not a luxury resort, it is nicely landscaped, well-designed and nicely maintained. We got a renovated 1 bedroom villa near the pool. The room is efficiently laid out. Nice little kitchen (no stove, but a convection micro means you can really cook if you want), with plenty of dishes and other necessities for kitchen use. We mostly ate breakfast in room and had access to snacks and beverages through the day. Our 4 year old son slept on the pull-out sofa in the living room. The King bed is lovely, though the main bedroom is quite tight for space. The main complaint is that there is only 1 very small closet. That means very little storage space for your clothing and belongings. Space was so tight, we actually stored our luggage on the deck.
If you travel with children, be aware that there's a vent between the bedroom and living room, so noise from the tv etc.travels. You'll have to be quite quiet until the kids fall asleep.
Nice to have the two tv's for those early evenings. The pool area is quite nice, with unlimited towels and lots of lounge chairs. There is no shallow area for very little kids however, so be aware. The poolside cafe is easy, breezy and serves yummy smoothies. The tacos are nice for lunch. The store in the lobby has poolside essentials...which was nice. And there's a little activity room for the kids to do crafts etc. Be aware this property attracts a much older clientele. There were only 2 other families with small children while we were there. But it made for a nice, quiet atmosphere. Easy to sleep at night.
Overall, nice for a family stay or a couple who wants a more self-contained room. Parking lot fills up in the evenings (lots of people are early to bed there!). Take advantage of the Fairmont Princess being next door....great food at La Hacienda, fantastic spa at the Well & Being Willow Stream.

Room Tip: Top floor (3rd) means no noisy stomping above you.

Dear JLAW1609,

Thank you for taking the time to leave such an extensive review about our property.

We were glad to hear that you and your family overall enjoyed your time with us!

Your assessment about attracting an older clientel is definitely right on for this time of year, however, we do start having quite a few families come spring time.

Come see us again sometime!

Warm regards,

The Sheraton Desert Oasis

My boyfriend and I stayed for Valentine's Day in a premium villa. We were blown away by the size of the room. We stayed at the St. Regis in Dana Point about a month ago, and we honestly liked the Sheraton more. Our bedroom was huge with a jacuzzi in the corner of the room. Also two fire places and a living area and kitchen. For the price, it was amazing! Only downside was no in room dining or restaurants on property except the one at pool side.

I have visited this property twice and I love everything about it! Think about it, you get a condo for less than the cost of some competing hotel rooms. Plus the report has a killer pool. I won't stay anywhere else in Scottsdale.

My wife and I are owners of a timeshare at this location. We bought it because my wife loved the landscaping. , but everything at this location was great. The service and friendliness of the staff is fantastic. We have stayed here several times and plan on going back many more times.

Room Tip: Choose a room near the pool

This was a huge and very comfortable Villa for our week in Scottsdale! 2 fireplaces, jacuzzi tub that was apart from the bathroom, so that we could get ready very easily. The kitchen was spacious and fully equipped. There are 2 pools, one quiet pool and the other was very busy, but we didn't feel like we had people on top of us. Small bar/snack shop to order food. The grounds are very well kept!
The proximity to the best choices of restaurants, activities, golf and shopping is wonderful! Couldn't be a better location!

Room Tip: Ask for the largest one bedroom. There is a smaller one which we have had in the past. Very small.

I was disappointed by the Desert Oasis. The property felt like it hadn't had much updating since the 1990's. It might have been my location within the property, but the exteriors felt run down. The room was well appointed, but the ventilation was weak, the hot water was slow to arrive in the shower, and the wifi signal was unobtainable in the bedroom. I would also note that I arrived late at night, and when asking the front desk about a location of a major attraction (Talesian West), they were spectacularly wrong about the distance from the Desert Oasis. It's not up to usual Sheraton resort standards.

Dear Richard_from_Dallas

Thank you for your feedback. We were truly sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your stay with us.
Our property has been undergoing a major renovation in the last several months which unfortunately has also brought along some AC and water issues in some areas that we have been working hard to resolve.
We also apologize about the misinformation you received from one of our staff. We will make sure to communicate this to the front office, so we can avoid a situation like this in the future.

Warmest regards,

This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. The resort was as pictured on the website. Check in was fast and simple, as others have started the concierge was a little pushy but accepted our firm "No Thanks". Our room was very spacious and had everything needed for a couple. The Kitchen was well fitted out with all the necessary items, although it was a little hard to reach the toaster and the kettle as they were in the cupboard above the micro wave, not easy to reach if you are not 6 foot tall, The towels supplied seemed a little on the thin side, but the bed and bedding were excellent.
The resort was very quiet not too many other guests, maybe just that time of the year, We were there over Christmas and it was nice to know that there were still activities scheduled for Christmas day. The Monday morning breakfast was helpful, as various tour operators were available to explain what was available to book. We did not use the pool area as it was too cold for us Aussies but it was an attractive area. Take the time to read the items in the welcome pack, very helpful in locating the supermarket and various other stores. All in all we had a great time, after a long tiring flight and driving from LA to Scottsdale it was a very restful way to start out holiday. Thanks to the housekeeping staff for their help

Room Tip: We were on the second floor which had a small balcony over looking the gardens. Rooms near the pool...
