Perfect get away! 2 pools, spa and golf course on site! Beds were comfortable and our parlour suite had enough space to entertain with plenty of sitting areas in living room/dining room, nice sized balcony. Kitchen with a full sized refrigerator and starbucks coffee. The only thing missing was a microwave in the kitchen. I brought back left overs but couldn't enjoy without the microwave.

Kierland Commons located a block from the hotel has many shops and a couple of restaurants. If you have a car, there's a Safeway supermarket 2 blocks away, you can stock up on snacks and beverages.

Breakfast in hotel was good but a little pricey, the alternative is the starbucks in the lobby. Dinner in Deseo was delicious, but service was a little slow.

Our favorite evenings were spent enjoying cocktails by the fire on the terrace.

We didn't travel with children but did notice there were many activities onsite for them.

Room Tip: If you're traveling with children, request a room near the pool area.

Scottsdale AZ just like San Diego CA is the land of the beautiful people and money. At the Kierland Resort they know how to handle both. The staff quickly learn your name they are helpful without always having their hand out and the shuttle bus which acts almost like a private limo service is quick and low key.
In terms of the rooms request one looking over the golf course then you are not looking directly into another guests room.
I prefer the tower rooms over the annex rooms but if you go in the tower remember the main central courtyard overlooking the golf course with the fire pit is party central and it can be a bit noisy which did not bother me a bit.
The biggest thing I has to complain about was the WiFi Service I travel with a pied and a iphone and they have their security locked down so tight it was 20 min per day on line with their IT department to get them working. They said they knew there was a problem but it was a real hassle. The IT department was maybe a 5 min wait but I have better things to do than spend ½ hr per day dealing with WiFi and what was really frustration is that you never knew when it would quit.
In fact when booking ask if they have their WiFi fixed and if they say no maybe think of another hotel. – it was that bad.

Room Tip: Ask for Tower over looking golf course

We stayed at this hotel for a conferenced from the 7th to 11th of November.
The hotel is stunning with wonderful amenities!
I had a great massage and the service from all members of staff was wonderful!
The woman at the coffee shop even remembered who I was, my name and all (considering I have a very difficult name to pronounce).
The Internet is FREE though it is kind of slow but it's better than paying $12 for 24 hours of Internet!
The dinning is WAY over priced and not so great. A few menu items were good (room service) such as the chicken tenders w/fries and omlette. The omlette was great. When I asked for oregano in it I was expecting the spice - they put the actual fresh herb! The chicken tenders were great, too. It was from a kid's meal and I ordered cookies as well. $27??? For a KID'S sized chicken tenders, fries and cookies?
Also, steer clear of the dessert bar in the lobby during the evenings.
The desserts LOOK amazing...but taste horrible.
The best restaurant is Deseo.
Make sure you try the chicken empenadas. EXCELLENT.
Over all it was a great stay except for most of the over priced yucky food!

Room Tip: Avoid room service at all costs. Super, SUPER pricey for mediocre food.

Here for a conference, and could not ask for a better place. The staff was very responsive and accomodating (kudos to Carol in the coffee shop who greeted me by name from memory). The grounds are beautiful, with palms and beautiful landscaping. Did not use the pools as it was too cold. Ditto with others about the convenience to Kierland Commons and dining. There is a shuttle which is on call to take you to stores and restaurants nearby.

We were in two different rooms, due to an issue which was taken care of quickly. The beds in the first room (doubles) were fantastic. The king in the second room was just OK.

One thing that needs big time improvement is the wifi in the rooms and conference center. It is sporadic and slow, especially for handheld devices.

I would go back again for sure.

I have stayed in this hotel a few times. I select it purely based on it's location. It is adjacent to the Kierland Commons shopping mall, and on the other side of the main road, the newly expanding Scottsdale Quarter. Both contain lots of shops and restaurants, all within easy walking distance. So, you can dump the car at the hotel and then shop, eat and drink without having to worry about driving afterwards. The shops tend to be more upmarket than you might find in other shopping malls, but the whole experience is very pleasant because it is an outdoor mall. Many of the restaurants have outdoor eating spaces, which is nice if it isn't too hot. Regarding the hotel, I have always found the staff to be friendly and efficient. The decor in the rooms seems a little bit outdated given they were renovated relatively recently, but the rooms are large and all have balconies. The bathrooms are very well kitted out - they have a separate walk-in shower, but unfortunately the bath is one of those shallow amercian style baths that you can't really lie down and soak in. The rooms overall might not be as good as those at the Desert Ridge Marriott, but the location makes it a winner for me. There is a separate pool for children, which is a bonus for those child-unfriendly folk amongst us!

Room Tip: ask for one overlooking the golf course

Stayed here for 4 nights for a business meeting in November 2011. This is a sprawling resort, set amidst a large, attractive golf course in the larger upscale Kierland multi use development. There is plenty of upscale shopping and dining nearby, some within walking distance.

The hotel has 732 rooms spread out over 6 floors; some of the rooms are incredibly far from the lobby, and require circumnavigating a maze-like collection of hallways. In fact, the staff here uses Segways indoors to get around the facility! Once you get to your room, it is dissapointingly small, not up to the standards of a JW Marriott, for example. The rooms have been redone within the past year or so, and the beds were comfortable, but, overall, the furniture is a step below a top level resort, such as a JW Marriott or a Ritz Carlton.

The golf facilities look fantastic, although I did not get to play. The pool complex is very large and attractive, with a patio bar/restaurant on site. The workout facility is almost stunningly small for a hotel of this size, with older equipment, some of which is in poor repair. The adjacent spa looked very nice, however.

Customer service was mostly good, the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, housekeeping did not replace the shampoo in the bathroom during my stay, nor was the minibar replenished.

Overall, it's a very nice resort, but doesn't make it into the top tier.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the same zip code as the lobby!

We made decision to leave Sedona due to bad weather and got a great price at the last minute at the Westin Kierland. Wow, what a property. It has that great resort feel starting with a beautiful lobby, friendly staff, nice rooms and lots of amenities.

While a little chilly (it was November and dipped into the 50s), we still were able to sit by the pool, play a little tennis and enjoy the facilities.

Absolutely would come back.
