We stayed in the Villas as we brought Grandma with us. By staying the in the Villas vs. the Hotel we were able to avoid the $25 daily resort fee plus an extra $50 (I think daily) for an extra wristband to the pools. The hotel room come with 4 wristbands, while the Villas allow for more. We had a nice one bedroom (the smaller version), kids stayed on the pull out couch, and we had a roll away bed for Grandma. The roll away was actually a very nice mattress. The living area got cramped but suited our needs. It was nice to have access to a fridge, stove top, and microwave.

We ate at deseo's one night and the kids attended the kid's care for free. They had fun and we had an excellent dinner. We also did drinks/appetizer's there another night and ate at Cashman's.

The villa pool has a small slide which allowed life jackets/tubes. The rules seemed a little looser in this pool. The large main pool at the hotel is stricter on height for their slide. The lazy river is adequate enough for adults and fun for kids. The pool had lots of activities. They had a huge inflatable slide set up outside the main hotel pool 2 days where kids and adults had lots of fun. We also did tie dye (for $) and free mini golf for free margarita's. We did sneak in our own drinks to both pools.

The Cabana's at the Villa's are a good deal for $50 a day. You can not purchase them the day of, only beforehand. However, if one has not been reserved for the day, you are allowed to use them for free, but you must occupy them. So, you can not put your stuff there in the morning and not return for 3 hours. The Hotel Cabana's are a lot more.

My husband golfed one morning and had a great time.

We just returned from a 4 night promotional stay (ie - they want to sell us the time share) at the Westin Kierland villas. We had our 2 kids (11 and 9) with us and stayed in the 1 BR smaller unit. We found the space to be a bit small for 4 people, but we managed just fine. One odd note - the door between the BR and the living room is glass, so light shined thru from our BR to the fold out couch when the kids were trying to sleep.

The grounds are in great condition and having access to the Westin resort next door is very helpful. The activities staff at the pool were very good - they kids enjoyed the various contests they ran.

Service was very good from all staff at the resort. While they wanted to sell us a timeshare, they did not force us to sit thru the 2 hour pitch, which was greatly appreciated.

We at at Deseo (in the Westin Kierland resort) and the food was fantastic. If you go, get the Kobe beef and sit at the bar to watch them prepare the meals - the chefs are all very friendly.

We recently spent a week in the villas and thoroughly enjoyed our visit; this was our first stay at this resort and we were impressed with the quality of the room (1-bedroom lock-off, larger of the 2 sides) in which there was plenty of room for 2 adults and our two kids (ages 5 and 9) and the living space was big enough to accommodate my in-laws who were traveling with us. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The pools are good-sized with a slide and the water is heated; the pool area did tend to get less sun in the afternoon than the pools at the resort, so we spent most of our pool time at the latter. Access to the adjacent resort is easy either by foot, or by the free shuttle; the shuttle also will take you to the nearby shopping areas and is very convenient. Plenty of activities for the kids are available. Don't miss the bagpipes over at the resort in the late afternoon! Location in North Scottsdale is excellent and grocery shopping is extremely close by. Would definitely return.

Thank you for staying with us at The Westin Kierland Villas. The units are spacious and I'm happy your entire family was able to stay together. Many of our guests decide to spend time both at our pools and next door at the resort. Next year, consider coming out for baseball's spring training, which is just getting ready to kick off.

Feel free to contact me if there is anything I can assist with your next visit.

Best regards,

Scott Caldwell

The folk at the Villas go far above and beyond in their attentiveness to ensure the comfort of your stay. They are the best group of people at a property in my experience.
The care and assistance from Robin, Hal and Caroline at McDowell Market Grill is tremendous, and the food quality surprisingly good for a resort property. The helpful and accomodating front desk, especially Cathy makes for a most relaxing stay.
And as for the care and attention to detail from Jeremiah, Chris and Brady at the Bell desk and shuttle, we could not now do without. They truly raise the bar for quality of service.
With the recent renovation, and the great staff this continues to be our go to property for family vacations.
I look forward to our next stay.

The premium suites are acceptable but nothing really worth the 400+ they want and the smaller side is certainly depressing and is quite a drop from premium side. Stayed first week in larger side and scheduled for 2nd week in smaller but booked out after three days as it was too depressing. The internet was constantly dropping off and they said they were going to update and have heard they fixed it but it is almost as slow as being connected to a phone iine when internet first came on the scene. There really isn't much to do at the villa, there is a family pool and an adult pool with a hot tub , one table tennis and a very small rec room with a few cardio machines next to the steam room which is totally inadequate and sounds like a jet taking off. The golf course was nice but really in Phoenix area many golf courses are as nice and similar or less in pricing.

Room Tip: ask for a view of golf course as other wings are like living in an apartment with no view but other...

Thank you for staying us and sharing your comments. I'm sorry to hear you were dissapointed with our deluxe units. While they don't have the full kitchen and are smaller, many of our guests feel they are a big upgrade to a standard hotel room. I will follow up with our team regarding your internet comments. We have replace all our hardware this year and you shouldn't have had any connectivity issues. We have scheduled additional bandwidth and expect to have that installed shortly. I hope you were able to enjoy the shared amenities with the Westin Kierland Resort. If you get a chance to return, I'd like to invite you to attend one of our events as my guest.

Best regards,

Scott Caldwell

Just got back from our first trip to AZ - 5 nights at the Westin Kierland Villas. The service was top notch, the villas are roomy and first class ( bathrooms are roomy with separate shower and whirlpool tub), and the food at the villas was very good, especially the breakfasts. You can get a shuttle over to the main Westin hotel or nearby shopping 24 hrs and there was never a long wait. The kids loved the pool with the water slide and the outdoor chess and pool table. The conceirge was very helpful in booking activities and if you want a golf lesson at the main hotel, go see Katie! We would come back again and soon! Not hard to see why they had the AAA four diamond placques in the lobby - they deserve it.
