“Great Place!”
Reviewed 19 July 2012

This is a modern hotel with some 50s themes. This seems like an older hotel but fear not... they spent some serious $$ on the renovations. The room I had was amazing... big tub, nice shower, flat tv, decorative sink, stocked mini bar, very comfortable bed, etc. They left no detail behind. Spotless clean.
Staff was great. I booked the wrong date and the corrected it instantly with no grief at check in.
The restaurant (ZuZu?) exceeded my expectations. My food was wonderful and in the top 3-5 meals I have ever had.
Only negative is the pool itself seems a little small if the place gets crowded. The pool area though is big enough to accommodate many people

Thank you for your review. We did put a lot of effort into the renovation of the hotel, while restoring it to its original 1950s style. The pool tends to be busiest on Saturdays, when it is restricted to overnight hotel guests only. This ensures that the area does not become overcrowded. We hope to see you again!

This would be where James Bond would stay if he visited Scottsdale (Connery Bond). A mid-century masterpiece. Stayed on a whim once a few years ago and was sure to make it a jumping off point for our honeymoon. I highly recommend the cabanas poolside. Not much to my taste in Scottsdale but this place is a destination in and of itself.

Room Tip: I am partial to the ground floor.

Love the mid century modern vibe that permeates the hotel. Both my teenagers thought the hotel was cool. On Friday I thought we were in Vegas when we visited the pool party. Lots and lots of adults letting loose, sometimes maybe a little too loose. My kids and I checked out the next day. Just wanted them to enjoy a pool without some old dude hitting on them and me saying, "Sixteen will get you thirty buddy!" This hotel is not for a family trip but it great for girls/guys weekends and anyone who wants to get their party on!

Thank you for your comments. Fridays through early July, we have a live band at the pool. Saturdays throughout summer, we have a DJ. During these times there tends to be a livelier atmosphere at the pool. On other days (and every day in non-summer months), the pool is definitely quieter and may be more to your liking.

They have done such a great job modernizing but keeping the retro feel. Loved having the big tub in the middle of the room too. We walked to Old Town Scottsdale, which was an easy walk. I would stay again for convenience, cleanliness, affordability and cool factor.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with the tub in the middle. Adds to the fun.

This hotel really embodies the late 1960's-early 1970's mod and hip decor. Wonderful attention to detail in the decor. While my companion and I are both of an age that we remember the 1960's, we still enjoyed the energy and party-vibe that the much younger (20's-early 30's) majority of guests seemed to be.

We stayed in a tower room on the 4th floor and had a terrific view of all the pool action and music without having to be caught up in the middle of it. Room was spacious and clean. Drinks at the bar were a little pricey and I agree with other reviewers that internet should be free in the room. My cell phone has a "hot spot" option but I could not maintain a connection in the room with it. And while not far from Old Town area of Scottsdale, it was a much longer walk than we expected and in 100+ degree heat, not a very comfortable option. Extra kudos to the valet attendants. They were quick, polite and a wealth of local information.

Overall it was a fun place to stay and was a nice break from the cookie-cutter chain hotels that abound in the area.

I'm glad you like the mid-century-modern style of the hotel. While our guests tend to be in their 20s-40s on weekends in the summer, you will see a wider range of ages on weekdays in the summer and all week in non-summer months. While we do not offer complimentary Internet in our guest rooms, we do offer it on the computers in our business center. The hotel is at the west end of Downtown Scottsdale, with many restaurants and shops a block away. It is rather hot to walk around Old Town in the summer (particularly in the daytime), and we recommend the free trolley that stops next to the hotel. Thank you for your review! We hope we'll see you again.

The hotel is beautiful and the room was great. The only drawback is that they do not have free internet service which I thought was a bit strange since it is standard in other hotels. Beside that small setback, it is beautiful. We stayed Sunday and Monday night and both days were very relaxing.

Thank you for your review. We recently upgraded our Internet network to accommodate more guests using more bandwidth for things like downloading and streaming, which is why we offer two pricing options based on what each guest needs. We do have complimentary Internet available on the computers in our business center, which is open 24 hours a day. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay overall, and we hope you will stay with us again!

If you want the Saturday pool party, go but they encourage you to leave by 6pm! The pool is open till midnight but don't go, security will harass you and your guests until you leave. Book a room somewhere else because you'll never get any rest because of partying going on all night in other rooms & security doesn't care as long as it's not in the pool. Just a word of advice.

Room Tip: Don't drink & stay-LEAVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE they like you to spend $$$$$$ and leave their hotel.

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. While the pool bar closes at 6:00 p.m., the pool is certainly still open to guests after that. Security is at the pool to ensure that only hotel guests are admitted (on Saturdays), and to ensure that behavior does not violates pool rules. We do have a strict no-party policy regarding our guest rooms, and our security team addresses any issues regarding excessive noise. It is important to us that all of our guests be able to get a good night’s sleep. I hope you’ll visit the hotel again – it’s quieter and a different atmosphere on weekdays in the summer and all week in non-summer months. ZuZu also has a great weekday happy hour and a chef’s table once a month. Thank you for review.
