Pretty decent hotel. Rooms are decent, lap pool was good, staff was pretty friendly. But for me the devils in the details.

They really need to rethink their parking situation. They charge $15/day $17 when you add the parking tac in. I stayed 4 nights so that's 60 dollars. In a part of a city where parking isn't a premium it's a superfluous charge. There needs to be an option for self park. I was out in the morning and in at night and then typically back out for dinner. So that's about 3x a day. Normally if it was complimentary valet or one-time I'd tip 5$ per in/out. Which is an additional $15 / day. So $120 to park over 4 days is absurd. Since I was paying $15/day to park I didn't tip. I felt a little bad because I wanted to but I was already paying $15 / day in a situation where I didn't think it was warranted. Felt almost like extortion, given there was no other nearby option.

Ok, part two. They only supplied comforters as sheets. I had to ask for a top sheet for my room. There are two issues with this.
1. Typically Duvets are made of a rougher material (less thread count) than sheets. So it's not as nice against your skin.
2. Secondly, AZ is hot and in hot places people need more ways to accommodate various levels of body temperatures. Like only sleeping with a lighter top sheet. In this instance you don't get that option. You either have the comforter on/off or half off, etc. Having the top sheet would allow people to have more finer control over their sleeping temperature regulation.

As I said those, these are minor, but are also easy to improve on.

JKiddSeattle,
Thank you for your recent review of Hotel Valley Ho on Trip Advisor. Let me jump right into some of the areas of your concern. We do charge $15 per night, plus tax, for underground secure parking with unlimited in/out valet privileges. The hotel offers a number of complimentary self-parking areas including behind the hotel, on the street, and in our Sands Event Venue parking area. We apologize if this wasn't clearly communicated upon your arrival.
In regards to your bedding, we do use 300-thread count duvet covers in our bed sheeting set up, the same as the pillowcases and bottom sheets used. Some guests do prefer a top sheet and those can be immediately delivered and added upon request. I apologize for any inconvenience this had caused, we can most certainly add this preference to your profile and have that sheeting arrangement ready for any future stays. We hope you will consider us again for a future stay and we look forward to having you as our guest in the future.

Great Hotel with easy access to Old Town Scottsdale. Really great remodel that maintained the 1950's cool style. Just stayed one night so we didn't have time to use the amenities. The rooms were clean, and comfortable. The balcony was awesome. We arrived on Saturday and there was a pool party going on that looked happening. The drinks in bar were top notch. Only complaint was the room one hour late being ready, but they gave us some free drink coupons. Would stay again without hesitation.

Richie F.,
Thank you for the review of Hotel Valley Ho on Trip Advisor. We hope you can visit us again soon and stay longer than one night. We are glad to hear everything went well during your stay. We took the opportunity to improve upon a few areas around property this summer and in doing so, we took several rooms off-market, making cleaning times/turn times, a littl emore difficult for our housekeeping team. We truly apologize for having to wait for your room, but glad to hear we made up for the situation. We hope to see you again soon.

I kept waiting for the rat pack to venture through the property. It was uniquely decorated to match the period when it was built. This is true of the common spaces as well as the rooms. Everything was comfortable. The service was very good. My only complaint is that you have to pass outside to many of the buildings. This is only a small walk. However, it can be very warm in the summer.

leojtracnik,
Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor of Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, Arizona. Our vintage vibe definitely harkens The Rat Pack-era memories. We are glad to hear everything was comfortable and while we do offer some rooms with exterior access only, keep in mind that the other 9 months of the year have near perfect weather....it's just summer that can be a little warm. We hope you can return again soon....and if it is in the summer, we do have interior access rooms available too!

This place is built and designed in the 50s style. It's open and friendly with good food and wine. The pools are of course outdoors given the desert climate and remarkably quiet. It's only 5 minutes from the canal-side shops and restaurants.

First rate including free fitness center, free wifi, two pools, comfy beds, and quiet at night. That's everything I wanted to say about this hotel. Tripadvisor for some reason has a 200 character minimum for reviews.

We purchased the Stay2Play package for a weekend getaway. The package included among other things 2 free drinks and $20 voucher good anywhere. We got a first floor garden view room. It had a nice patio with a privacy curtain that made the room even bigger as you could open the sliding door to the patio and still have privacy. The bedroom and bathroom decor was as hip as you expect of the Valley Ho with the "old meeting the new" -vibrant colors, very 70's. The pool area is spacious, but it closes early. On Saturdays they have a DJ pool party-typical of Scottsdale and they are strict about entrance: id check, no outside drinks(even if you purchased them at the lobby) and bag search. Leave your kids at home as this hotel has more of a couples/ "let's party" atmosphere. There is a kiddie pool but it is not shaded. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Tip: you can park for free on the street even overnight. Ladies: dress up, even to go to the pool.

Room Tip: Choose rooms with pool/garden view-they have a nice walk-in patio giving you a second access to your...

marivix,
Thank you for your very kind review of Hotel Valley Ho on Trip Advisor, and for booking our Stay2Play package. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and found the hotel to be hip and spacious. As you noted, we are strict about pool event attendance as we like to preserve the pool space and seating for our hotel guests, and this is the only way to ensure that happens. Thank you again for your visit and we hope you can stay with us again in the future.

Perhaps the most attractive mid-century style hotel I have ever stayed at which featured one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in. Think Lucy and Ricky go to Hollywood meets all of the 21st century conveniences. Only down side was some loud drunken folk by the pool but that did not greatly diminish the experience. Great friendly staff enhanced the experience.

Room Tip: Overlooking the pool costs more and can be nosy, especially with weekend DJ's.

I'm sorry that some of the guests at the pool acted inappropriately. It can be more lively when we have entertainment at the main pool on summer weekends, and it tends to be quieter on weekdays and all week in the non-summer months. We also added a new OHasis Pool that's ideal for relaxing. I apologize that the housekeepers weren't able to understand you. Recycling is sorted out from trash after it is collected from the guest rooms. We hope to see you again!
