“Trying a little too hard”
Reviewed 16 February 2010

This hotel is centrally located to downtown and is well kept. Overall I felt the hotel was trying a bit too hard to be chic and trendy. I almost felt as if I needed to be dressed up to walk through the lobby. I think it's fine for one night but certainly would get old for an extended stay. Also, they charge close to $30 per day for parking and there is a free overnight public lot just behind the hotel.

Had a good night sleep at the W in a super comfortable bed with perfect pillows. The rooms are nothing to write home about with the decor and furnishing already looking dated and feeling very yesterday. Didn't gel with the place as a whole, maybe at 45 I'm just too old to get it.

Can you say pretentious? No, well don't worry, you only need to know one letter: "W". If you like your bed in the middle of the room and your toilet right alongside it, this place is great. Just a really dumb hotel in a really dumb location. Also incredibly overpriced. Stay at the Ritz Carlton. Waaaaaay more classy and a much better value.

The W was the "overflow" hotel for a recent conference I attended in Scottsdale. Fortunately for me, I procrastinated and the main hotel was sold out. The W is an excellent hotel in every way. The front desk is tremendous and helpful, the rooms are fabulous, the pool is great and the social scene incredible. I can't say enough good things about this hotel.

As a frequent traveler to the Scottsdale area I have stayed at the W Hotel Scottsdale 6 or 7 times in the past year. From the architecture and location to the award winning staff and restaurant (Sushi Roku) this has to be one of my very favorite W Hotels! To the General Manager, Leon Young please keep up the great work. In the spirit of full disclosure I am a Platinum Starwood member.

We stayed at the Scottsdale W (first time at a W). We found the bizarre decor, loud annoying techno music in public spaces and overall vibe to be jarring. We asked to move a 2nd room because the 1st was very noisy. In both rooms, the corner curtains didn't close all the way and the flat panel TVs were hung crooked. Perhaps this is intentional as the hotel seems to be designed for 40 year old upper middle class Ecstasy users. Beware of the non-private toilets in the rooms. Also, the hotel restaurant was awful. Next time we're in Scottsdale, we'll retreat to the Phoenician down the road.

My friends and I stayed at the W Scottsdale for the very first time.
Being in many other W hotels around the world and can tell that the service has been outstanding and very personal.
Starting by the people who welcomes you at the door, the front office, the bell boys, room service and bar servers, all of them very friendly, kind and deliver an outstanding service.
Great concierge who recommend us excellent places to visit and fantastic restaurants.
The bars are cozy and very stylish. The rooms are just W style, what else to ask?
Location is great especially for nightlife.
Overall one of the best W hotel so far experienced. We'll be back.
