We stayed at this hotel as part of a conference - the room was fine and housekeeping was efficient and well done. There do seem to be a number on conferences scheduled at this resort.

Being that it was June, and hot, the hotel does fill up on the weekends with people from the area, and children...lots of children, enjoying the hotel and the numerous pools. We walked around and saw that there are some pools specifically designed for the kids, but I don't know if there are adults-only areas - we didn't use the pools.

Breakfasts were fine, and the other on-site eating options were decent as well. Our first night we couldn't get a table without a long-ish wait at the SouthWestBistro (SWB), but they offered us a table in a bar-like area situated between the SWB and their Italian restaurant Alto - we were able to order from both menus...a bit unusual, but at least we got to eat. Another option is the sushi bar Noh, which seats only 6, so make sure to reserve if sushi is important to you - the night we ate there it was pretty quiet...but then again, it was in June...

Golf is available at the neighboring club (Gainey Ranch) with reduced prices in the afternoon - again, it was hot (...it's a dry heat!...) but it was enjoyable nonetheless! The best part was the Hyatt golf concierge who let us know about shipstix.com - you can send your clubs home by Fedex for a not-unreasonable fee - the Hyatt will box them up for you at no additional charge (tip as you feel appropriate) - and for me it was worth every penny since I would have been responsible for getting them from the rental car to the check-in desk (spouse went on to the east coast from PHX) and then I would have had the joy waiting forever for his clubs to be delivered to baggage claim and then hauling them to the car in the parking garage, so consider shipstix, or some other similar option.

I have to admit I enjoy the quieter atmosphere of the resorts a bit further north, but don't take that as a negative reflection on this property - it was fine, and I'd have no hesitation in staying here again.

The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch is a stylish escape in the midst of the desert. It has a cool vibe and great atmosphere about it. The staff it attentive but relaxed. The rooms have a traditional layout and feel, but with contemporary style (without being overly trendy). Bring plenty of sunscreen, because the water experience throughout the resort is ample and satisfying, you'll find your pool escape if you look for it. The water slide is good fun for kids of all ages, including adults. The fitness center is satisfying with a great variety of equipment without being oversized. The tennis courts appear to be well used and a great setting. Naturally, you're in the greater Phoenix area so there is no shortage of access to golf. We've enjoyed more than one stay at this property and certainly look forward to going back. If you have reasonable expectations, you'll have a wonderful time at this stylish escape.

Room Tip: Always request a high floor, and one facing the pools would be better than the front drive that we h...

We spent 4th of July here and it was amazing!! We were greeted with complementary Prickly Pear Margaritas and the evening just kept getting better! The pools and slide kept the kids busy for hours. Then, the sun went down and we were able to watch fantastic fireworks from the pool while listening to great music. There was no fighting traffic or trouble finding parking. It was so easy and fun. The most stress-free 4th of July ever.

We are finishing a 5 week Scottsdale summer holiday. The best feature about this hotel was the pool and grounds. My children had an excellent time. With the exception of bird droppings on the towels every few minutes (which is part of the outdoors). The water slide and sandy beach are incredibly well kept. (The guests don't clean up after themselves much so you can't tell which chairs are vacant as towels are left all over)
The room was another story. I had tons of cigarette butts in the planter on the deck, my room was dirty when I arrived however with three children and the wait to get another room I cleaned it myself. The next am they forgot to clean the room and I had to phone down to housekeeping to clean and bring towels.
The restaurants are extremely overpriced. I went to the Italian establishment for dinner my husband and I had the $30 "special" ribeye steak ordered medium rare and it came out over well done for both grey/brown in colour and it was pan fried. I didn't say anything because my 3 small children wouldn't have tolerated the wait for a new meal. Needless to say they added an 18% gratuity and we caught it they didn't mention. My husband and I plus 3 kids meals was $283 (we had a $60 of wine). I was shocked. We have a few more nights left and we are definitely eating elsewhere. Too bad. Great ambiance just needs better choices for dinner.

I stayed here with my husband and 9-month old daughter in June. We got a fantastic deal through our travel agent, as summer is Scottsdale's low-season. The heat, although intense, was bearable. Everywhere has AC and we spent most of our days in the pool anyway. Speaking of the pool, it was as amazing as advertised on the website. Kids especially enjoy the faux beach (very cool), and adults can get away from the noise at the adults-only pool. Get there early on weekends to get the shaded seats! Service throughout the hotel was excellent. When asked, the hotel was able to provide a full crib for my daughter (rather than the usual playpen/pack n'play). The rooms were large and comfortable and they were accommodating to our request for a first-floor walk-out patio in a quiet area of the resort. The concierge was very helpful and the management took the time to approach us and ask us about our stay, and recommend sights and restaurants.

This resort offers a special experience. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are decent. The pool is one of the nicest and it really includes a sandy beach, a slide and unique features. The food is average hotel food and service above average. Room for improvement. Location is very convenient. Always a pleasant experience.
