I don't really consider this a 5 star resort for a few reasons. First of all, on Labor Day weekend we were made to wear wristbands like we were in some rinky dink place. They had security guards at every entrance to the pools and they warned us that we couldn't take in any outside food or drink. They didn't look in our beach bag but an affluent 70ish couple going in were made to open their bag. God forbid they can't sell you a $6.00 Coke. Very tacky indeed. They nickel and dime you on most everything and the pools weren't very clean. Probably because of the 300 small children playing pool games. Granted there were adult pools but they did not have the shade the kids pool did and it was hot. The rooms are pretty nice though.

Dear ATriece,

Thank you for joining us during for our end of summer Labor Day Dreamcation weekend. We value your candid feedback on what is one of our most popular Legacy Events. On holiday weekends, we have the wristband procedure in place to assure the exclusivity of our resort, with added entertainment, activities and amenities for our overnight guests. We greatly appreciate you sharing your experience, as our goal is to provide you with a fun, memorable, Five-Diamond vacation. We will review your comments regarding the pool, as our primary concern is for the safety of our guests with potentially bringing in glass, for example. We sincerely apologize your visit did not meet yours or our expectations of relaxation. Should your travels bring you back to Arizona, we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again.

I visited the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Hotel for a conference in September 2013. The rooms were very nice and they had comfortable chairs on the balconies. The service at all points of the hotel was excellent! The only problem I had was in trying to find a glass of wine or light snack during the afternoon hours. Only the bar pool/cabana was open and the atmosphere wasn't what I was looking for. The Hotel has several very nice bars, they just don't open until 5pm.

Booked a two week stay had a great holiday until booking out. Parking and Internet advertised as free however no free Internet and charged for daily parking felt totally ripped off as my complaint fell on deaf ears. What's even more offensive I travelled to Vegas and still charged to park my car on the nights I was not there!

We visit here every year and are never disappointed. Staff are so welcoming and take great pride in their job and their hotel - and it shows! Although this is a big hotel you are always made to feel like an individual and everything is done to make sure you have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. There is plenty of competition in this area for top class hotels but with every stay we feel less likely to look elsewhere. The Fairmont know this and make sure guests stay happy.

We just came back from a week at the Fairmont and we had a great stay overall thanks to the area and golf courses. I would have loved to be able to rate this hotel better, but there are so many little annoying things, I couldn't. A few days before arrival I called the hotel and asked for an early check in and got told this wouldn't be a problem, as well as furnishing the room with a microwave and refrigerator. On arrival the room off course was not ready and we had to wait about 2 hours. When we finally got our room keys and a map, the valet showed us the direction and after 10 min we found the right building, thank god we had a car. Refrigerator or microwave not in the room, so called front desk. Items got delivered within 10 minutes, this guy was the best on we encountered, sorry but I can't remember his name. He asked if we need anything else and got us extra coffee, sugar, creamer within another 3 minutes. He was the one who made up for the rocky start.

Pros: Nice property and landscaping, room well noise insulated, bed and bedding really comfortable, nice bathroom setup. We only used the pool by the casitas once, nice setup, but a small group of 3 used 8 or 9 loungechairs the whole day and went from one to the other depending on the shade level.

the ok part: housekeeping hasn't shown up by 4pm, so we decided not to have it at all that day.
Room set up was a little awkward, if you want to watch tv from the bed you had to lay diagonally to have a good view, from the sitting area only one could see the tv.
cons: For the rate they charge you expect a little more then just the room. Although we didn't not have to pay the resort fee, we were charged $ 10 for self! parking per day. Internet is another $ 15. everything plus tax. Room service options sounded great, but a delivery fee of $5 plus 21% gratuity is a little steep. They have free coffee in the bathroom!, if you can go without Starbucks, but only two per day, so every day we saw a maid we had to ask for extras.
There is a huge minibar in the room, but it has no space for personal items, but you can rent ($25) a refrigerator.
Two nights around 8pm we couldn't get any hot water in the shower, one sink had almost no water pressure and an awful sewer smell once the water finally drained, not 4star or 5 diamond worth.
On arrival I saw a used tissue behind the couch, never got removed, a side table was full of stains, and hair on the bathroom floor.
Noise level outside room on the balcony can get horrible.
No food or drink service at the casita pool, just some icewater.
Overall, I wouldn't stay here again, but will definitely go back to Scottsdale, there are a lot of wonderful hotels, that are more affordable and don't nickel and dime you for items that should be included in a high room fee like this.

Room was very nice. Bathroom great. Nice balcony (but too hot to really enjoy). Grounds very nice but spread out- 60+ acres FYI . Resort fee steep and spa and health center charge $45 fee. Tv is in strange place and bad angle.

We were able to enjoy a large suite with living room, dining room, and separate bedroom. Made the stay and everyone was super helpful and nice. From the Valet, to check in, and all the services, everyone made our stay tremendous. Balcony dining and cabana at the pool were the highlights!
