“Nice service but property needs work.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

We just came from a stay-cation where our friends from California came and stayed too. The first room she got was a 1 bedroom casita. She was happy upon her arrival but shortly into her trip she noticed the coffee table was covered in something black when she got closer she noticed it was 1000 of ants, then after about an hour they noticed it was hot, they realized the air conditioner had gone out. Righter after maintenance came and spent about an hour we had two cockroaches come out of one of the beds and one on the wall. After calling the front desk again, they kindly offered them to move to another room in the main building. It was not a casita but a nice one bedroom. They had two children so moving at 11 at night was not easy. we checked into a nice room. It was rather small with two small double beds. I haven't slept in a bed that small since college, so I had to get used to that. The shower was a little yucky and there was some small little but long black bugs on the tile in the bathroom that grossed me out. I know we live in a desert and it had rained so bugs can be inevitable at times. We had a large rainstorm and the puddles lasted throughout the next day as soon as we walked out of our room the walkways were puddled pretty badly even though it hadn't rained since the night before. The pools were nice and the kids had a great time fishing at the lake. The property needs some upgrading, I have been coming here since it opened around 1987 so I have seen it transition. The staff was all very nice and courteous.

I stayed here for 3 nights on a weekend getaway.

I'll say upfront that there was nothing really wrong with my stay. I just was not impressed by the hotel or its staff.

I booked through Hotwire and got a decent summer rate. However, I also ended up in what I have to believe is one of the hotel's worst rooms - next to the housekeeping room. The room is oddly shaped, so the tv is off to the side. I heard ever cling, clang and slam from the adjacent housekeeping area. I also heard the housekeeping carts every time they rolled by on the saltillo tile.

Otherwise, the room itself was decent and clean, but not impressive. No mini fridge. Wifi was good with no issues. Very small item, but I was not a big fan of the rose-scented soap and shampoo - too overbearing.

The 2 pool areas are nice. The south pool is more kid-oriented; the east pool is more adult-oriented. The area is large with lots of loungers, some of which get some shade. Some floats are available, but they are tattered and missing chunks of foam. The pool deck gets insanely hot, but that's Arizona. For me, the service at the pool was non existent; I was there about 2 hours each day, but never asked if I wanted a drink. Again, not a big deal - but lacking for a resort.

Parking is ok. It was a bit of a walk from my room. The lots are all gated, which I found needless and annoying.

I did not eat on the property. There's a Whole Foods nearby, along with several restaurants.

Bottom line: I'd return, but only for the right price. There is no luxury or wow factor here. Just a run of the mill resort. I wish I had spent a bit more and stayed at the Phoenician or Sanctuary.

From the time you step out of the limo until the time you step back into the limo this resort is nothing short of perfection. Our room was very nicely appointed and the view of the lagoon with the flame in the center a night was truly breathtaking. The grounds are manicured daily, the pool's are fantastic with great service, the servers out in114 degrees spoiling us at every turn. This is the neatest, cleanest resort we have ever had the privilege of visiting , all the restaurants are phenomenal.
I would be remiss if I did not say " Thank You Fairmont Scottsdale Princess for everything" but it seems so little to say when they all give so much.

Room Tip: Book early, ask for Stephanie, she is the best

We got this hotel for 80 dollars on Priceline express deal. It was definetly worth the price. The hotel is huge and was hard to find room and we were in G block and there is not enough parking in that area. The room was huge and crib was good for the toddler in our group. There are lots of pools my friends son loved the kids pool and I saw lots of kids of various ages having fun in that area. I sat at the east pool next to kids pool for a bit, but it is like a second kids pool to me. So next morning I stayed at south pool which had less kids, but I never found quiet pool area which would have been nice. We ordered lunch by pool which to me was very reasonable for hotel food. However drinks were outrage 10 dollars for smoothie so no drinks for us. Kind of crazy when quesidalla was same price as non alcoholic beverage.

Dear francine_16,

Thank you for choosing the Fairmont Scottsdale and reviewing your stay. While you found a great nightly rate and enjoyed a mostly positive experience, we appreciate your feedback on other areas as well.

We understand your position on the prices of beverages and know that cost is always a consideration. We always try to provide the best possible products and value. Hopefully the variety on our menu gave you a chance to find something more to your liking. On a finding a quiet pool area, our rooftop pool at Well & Being Spa is a truly a scenic and serene spot.
We thank you for visiting. Next time you’re in the Scottsdale area, we hope you’ll think of the Princess.

Sincerely,

If you like to be treated well, you will be hard pressed to find better service at any other hotel. From the moment you drive in, to the desk staff, to the bell men, to housekeeping etc, the service is impeccable. The rooms are large, the bathrooms are large, modern and well appointed, all with balconies. The grounds are sprawling, beautifully kept with 3 pools, one with a huge slide and, of course, there is bar service at the pools. The hotel encompasses 3 outstanding restaurants--Mexican, steakhouse, and American that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a Starbucks. Indulge in a spa treatment in their Well and Being Spa-outstanding! Treat yourself to a stay at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.

A very attractive, well-appointed room in a well-kept comfortable building.
As a conference hotel, the sprawling locations were inconvenient to walk to, given the 115 degree heat in July.
Food good in teh various retaurants, but pricey.

A pleasant and well maintained resort - sprawling, be ready to walk a lot. Far from other businesses and restaurants, and the food is exorbitantly priced, like $6 for a 16 oz water. I will not return!
