We stayed here for two nights over a weekend in May in a room on the 6th floor. The hotel is very well maintained and located. It is within easy walking distance of the Old Town and the local mall.

The hotel does have some slightly odd features:

1. There is no resturant per se in the hotel. You can get a small selection of drinks and snacks from the front desk though;
2. The room while spacious, comfortable and having a HUGE flat screen TV had a bathroom which had a bath/shower and toilet but, the mirror and basin were outside in the main room;
3. No matter what time of the day or night we tried, we could not get cold water out of any taps in the room....the cold taps were constantly running warm water even after having been left to run for a long time.

The above aside, the hotel would have gotten a higher rating were it not for what happened overnight. The hotel is situated right next to a nightclub and sure enough at 2am each morning we were woken up by loud music, tyres schreeching, engines revving, people shouting and all the other associated noises that usually occur at kicking out time from a nightclub. When we mentioned this to the front desk the following morning, we were given an obviously well rehersed reply that it was a problem the hotel experienced 2 to 3 nights a week and that they usually try to accomodate guests in the rooms furthest away from the source of the noise.

Sadly for us, the 6th floor wasn't far enough away.

Great location as you can easily walk to Old Town, the Arts District and the Fashion Mall, with what must literally be hundreds of bars and restaurants.
We stayed here before when it was an Amerisuites hotel, and while it has been re-furnished and updated the rooms are essentially the same floorplan as before, especially the much-criticised bathroom design. The plasma TV is a great improvement.
What we missed were:
a) moisturiser - this is Arizona after all. All we got were shampoo and conditioner and a soap that made my husband come out in a rash!
b) info about restaurants, things to do etc. - there were no free mags, maps etc in the room & we didn't notice any in the lobby either
c) a telephone directory
d) they used to have a popcorn machine in the lobby- alas no more!
We also had a problem with the cold water not being cold at all - we were brushing our teeth in warm water as we couldn't get the water in either the bathroom or kitchen sink to run cold. We couldn't refill our water bottles with cold water so had to pay over $2 for a bottle from the lobby.
Tip: if you are using a GPS to find the Hyatt, search for Amerisuites and that will get you there!

This hotel is in good walking distance to the Scottsdale shops, restaurants and the mall. The beds were comfortable. Easy to get to Camelback for hiking. Only complaint is for the price, they could have included eggs etc. instead of charging extra at breakfast. It is much nicer to stay in Scottsdale and then drive to the attractions in Phoenix.

This is the sister review to my stay at the Hyatt Summerfield Suites. This is a newer, recently renovated property but with some differences.

HP is a good choice if you don't need a kitchen and if you prefer more of a traditional hotel-like experience. The rooms here were all clean and well-maintained. Features include the huge 42" LG Plasma TV, comfy bedding, a large couch, desk, wet bar and fridge, as well as a standard shower/toilet room with plenty of counter and drawer space next to it.

This location is in Old Town Scottsdale, a very trendy tourist hangout, and is in a small section of corporate buidlings intermingled with restaurants, bars and a nearby Marriott. So it can get noisy at night sometimes, and there is a security guard who glares at you as you enter the parking area, to ensure you are a guest at the hotel, LOL!

But aside from that, the staff were all wonderful, very friendly and polite. You can get the usual continental breakfast in the morning, or oder some hot foods day and night, again with the cool touch screen in their small dining area.

Of the few HPs I've stayed at in the Phoenix area, this one seems to be the favorite of airline crews, which is a good sign (perhaps mainly due to location?).

Finally, there is a shuttle that will drop you off in the main tourist part of the area, but it's a pretty easy walk anyway.

While not as trendy as the Valley Ho or the under construction W Hotel (which is further out anyway), this is a good, solid choice in a convenient location and I recommend it without hesitation!

We had a very nice stay. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. It was also nice to be able to watch tv on the large couch and not have to sit on the bed.The staff was friendly and the location is wonderful. Within easy walking distance to the mall and art galleries!

BUT, the bathroom layout is ridiculous. The toilet and shower are in a small room (not a big deal). Outside of that room is the sink and make-up area. Again not bad. HOWEVER the sink area is directly across from the bed so when my husband got ready for his seminar and turned on the light, it lit up the entire bed area. Time to get up I guess. You sit up in bed and look in the bathroom mirror. There is no way someone could sleep while someone is getting dressed. Unless that person can get ready in the dark!

Additionally, there were only 3 small drawers. Not enough for 2 adults to put clothes in. The closet was built into a side wall (that butted up against the side of the bathroom counter) and the opening was only half of the closet. Therefore you had to reach around the wall to get to the rest of the closet.

We had a toilet problem at night and I was suprised that the staff could not get into the maintenance room to get a plunger! They could not reach the manager either. So I used the lobby bathroom until morning when the maintenance guy could arrive. I will say he was ready to come up as early as 6:30 AM. So once I got through the evening, my problem was solved quickly.

Tip: have a plunger handy to all staff at all times of the evening!!

Despite all that, I would stay again. The pro's outweighed the design flaws.

We stayed here for one night on our way up to Sedona. The location was great, very convenient to Old Town. The rooms were very modern and clean. I would recommend staying in one of the higher rooms away from the parking lot and bars next door (it was a little loud) but other than that I would stay here again for the value and location.

I travel for a living (I am a pilot) and I really appreciate a nice hotel and this place does not disapoint with huge HDTV LCD screens, very clean and comfortable beds and rooms. Ok, they are not the biggest rooms and there is no microwave. But the place is so nice I can hardly believe our company puts us up here.

Don't know what it costs to stay here so factor that in to my review as I stay here for free.
