This is one of the most beautiful hikes you will ever see. In November the foliage is bursting with autumn colors. At some points you feel like you're in an enchanted forest. We consider the hike to be moderate because you have to traverse many creek crossings. Beware of the slippery rocks in the creek because we saw 3 people slip and one person broke her ankle and had to be rescued. Hiking poles or sticks really help you through the water crossings by anchoring your balance.

Not enough parking. This site is owned by a private company. The information we say on the trails that it was a part of the National Park System. It is not. Parking lot was full. We parked 2 miles away along the road. We had to pay $4.00 each just to walk the trail. Trail was not marked. Luckily, many people on the trail so we knew where to go. Also, the path was worn. Toward the end, we came to the 8th stream to cross. We could not locate the stream crossing and the trail on the other side. We could not see a path. We turned around. Luck for us all of the above was overshadowed by the beautiful fall colors of the leaves, water, rock formation, etc. The private company needs to do some organizing the trail rather than just accepting money to visit it.

We stopped at this trail on our way back to Sedona from visiting the Grand Canyon. It was a perfect fall day...just the right temperature for hiking! We enjoyed crossing the creek numerous times and no-one ended up with a wet foot. Would highly recommend this hike for anyone.

Sedona is full of beautiful hike trails but the West Fork trail looks absolutely stunning at this time of the year (mid Oct - mid Nov). We went there on Oct 26 and found the trail bursting with fall colors. It's a few miles north of the entrance to Slide Rock park. Bring cash for entrance fee ($9 per vehicle). There's a restroom and a few picnic tables inside. The trail itself is easy and is a favourite for everyone - from serious hikers to families with kids - which - unfortunately makes the trail one of the most crowded. You can turn back anytime but I'd suggest you cross atleast some of the 13 easy stream crossings. It gets pretty cold during October so dress appropriately.

We hiked this trail in late October and it was insanely gorgeous! Red rocks, little canyons and the leaves bursting with color. I can imagine that this hike would be wonderful no matter what time of year. Towards the end, the trail is not so clearly marked, but it is worth the effort to stay on the trail.
