“Wonderful getaway!”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

Beautiful setting, great food, an overall wonderful place to stay - no phones, no TV, just relax and enjoy! Be sure to walk the property, check out the creek, orchards, and gardens. If you enjoy the outdoors there are many local hiking and biking trails too.

We were lucky enough to secure dinner reservations at Garland's, even though we were not staying there. It is a 4 course Pre Fixe dinner with cocktail hour being served from 6-7. Our main entree was rack of lamb with a delicious light mint sauce served with fresh vegetables and couscous. If you get there early hike up the hill behind the lodge to see the vegetable garden that supplies many items for the dinner. The cocktail for the evening was a fresh peach daiquiri made from the peaches from the trees in the orchard. The cottages closest to the running creek are old forest service cabins that were reconditioned and moved to the site. Additional cabins were modeled after that style. Would love to come back and spend a few days/nights relaxing.

This is our wedding anniversary get away. No phones, no tv, peace and quiet, pure heaven. Fabulous food and service. Wouldn't miss our romantic getaway every June for anything. Wonderful way to recharge your batteries! The beauty that surrounds you is uplifting and awesome! New chef, Brian, appears not to have missed a beat. Semifreddo dessert to die for -yummy strawberry last year, chocolate orange this year with a wonderful chocolate bark on the side. I'm not much of a dessert person but this dessert is SO unique and special. I will request it during my stay every year and hope they grant it. You will love your stay here!

Room Tip: Cabins along the creek are wonderful for the sound of running water. Cabins at the top have fabulous...

My wife and I just spent two wonderful days at Garland's Oak Creek Lodge. We were both pretty tired and Garland's was the perfect prescription. Dinner and Breakfast are outstanding and both are taken at a very relaxed pace. The service is excellent and the surroundings are lush. The setting is the middle of an apple orchard with Oak Creek running along the edge of the property. Quiet, calm and very relaxing.

Room Tip: Take your Camera the flowers and Sedona views are outstanding

We have visited Sedona, Arizona many times and have stayed in several of the areas finest Bed and Breakfasts. At the end of May we spent two incredible nights at the Garland's Lodge that is located 8 miles north from the main business district of Sedona.
Our first impression as we drove over the creek was one of awe and delight as we entered the magical world of the Garland's. Once we were there we did not want to leave because of the perfect location of the Lodge. The mountain cabin accomodations perfectly suit the surrounding environment. Our room was a spacious king-size cabin with a couch in front of a wood-burning fireplace, a refrigerator and coffee maker.
The American plan provided us with a sumptuous multi-course breakfast, a four o'clock tea, and a gourmet four course prix fixe evening meal. The quality and quantity of the food had us planning our return trip before the end of our stay. The impeccable service provided by the owners Mary and Gary Garland and managers Megan and Taylor ensured that our every request was provided with a graciousness and thoughtfulness that promised that we would have a memorable stay in their Lodge.
As we strolled through the apple orchards, the organic vegetable garden and the chicken compound, we became acutely aware that these bounties, such as the fresh eggs would be incorporated into our superb meals. The servers, Seann and Edgar provided the perfect amount of attention that is comparable to that found in fine, world-class restaurants.
The scenery, the accomodations, the delicious food and the impeccable service created the perfect vacation retreat.

Room Tip: Our room was "Georgie", and it has the perfect location to the Lodge, gardens and orchards...

Garland's is a little piece of heaven. What a spectacular place to stay. It is so relaxing and beautiful, the perfect place to unwind. My sister and I have traveled to Garland's twice, and know we will return many more times. We just can't say enough great things about this place!

Garland's Oak Creek Lodge has a long history. The property was first settled in the late 19th Century when Oak Creek Canyon was called Outlaw Canyon as criminals of various stripe would settle in the area to avoid incarceration. There is also a mining connection when the first cabins were built for the workers. There are 16 private cabins (most built in the 1950's or before and a few in the 1980's. with 4 set above Oak Creek and the others nestled among the bountiful trees. The Lodge has their own garden, greenhouse as well as chicken coop. Most visitors are repeat and you may well have to reserve your cabin a year in advance. There is no internet/wi-fi in the cabins, no phones and no TV. We learned that the main lodge does open the internet from 8-11 each morning. Then it is turned off and you are left with nature and your own intentions for total relaxation. Great hiking trails are close. Breakfast is served from 8-10 and dinner promptly at 7 (they ring a dinner bell) with cocktails 6-7. You are seated with other guests unless requesting otherwise. Breakfast and dinner included in the room cost. There is an afternoon tea service at 4 with sweet/savory delights. We understand that there is a relatively new chef (3+ years). The chef lives on the premises along with a husband and wife management team. There is a spa and tennis courts. This is not a Four Season resort but a wonderful escape from the digital world set in the woods. The cabins are rustic and comfortable. We loved our first experience and strongly recommend this location for those who love to get away and decompress. If your hubristic tendencies require that you be 'connected' constantly to tell eveyone how wonderful you are, then stay away. You won't like it and the guests won't like you. Here is a sampling of one breakfast and dinner.
Breakfast: Black Powder Biscuits, Juice, Fresh berries or Fruit Smoothie, Cereal. Following these you have a choice of one of the following 1. Oak Creek Trout and Corn Oysters, 2. Spinach & Feta Cheese Frittata. 3. Cashew Coconut Waffles. 4. Eggs as you prefer. 5. Kachina Scramble (Eggs scrambled with fresh sage, sun dried tomatoes, broccoli, caramelized onions and goat cheese). or 6. Huevos Borrachos (Poached eggs cooked in chile broth with melted cheddar cheese. All egg dishes served with delicious hash browns, ham, bacon, sausage. There's your breakfast. Great!! I had the trout. Fantastic. Here was our dinner: Blue Thunder Bread, Tortilla Soup, Mixed greens (with jicama slaw, pineapple and pepitas in a cilantro lime vinaigrette), entree was Grilled Wild Columbia River King Salmon with sauce verde), accompanied with black beans with cotija, braised Kale with roasted Garlic and onions. To top off our dinner, we had a savory and wonderful Ibarra Chocolate Cake. Our wine selection with dinner was a Fess Parker 2010 Viognier. After dinner, we were treated by one of the wait staff (a violin concert master) to a number of violin selections. After an evening of great food and friendship, I went outside the lodge and lit a match for the firepit. The evening completed listening to the rushing waters of Oak Creek and a black, starry night that only can be found in Arizona high country. Leave your tablet and smartphone home and enjoy the real world. Garland's is a jewel. Not for everyone.

Room Tip: Cabins A and M are up the hill and the newest and largest and above Oak Creek. Cabins 1-4 are above...
