“Great Little Motel”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Only stayed for one night which was a shame as Sedona is such a lovely place.
Although motel is a short drive away from the town there are several places to eat nearby.
It is in a peaceful, quiet area so no noise at night and a good night's sleep can be had
The owner, Dick Curtis, is a wonderfully charming man who was a famous t.v personality and war veteran. He regales you over breakfast with fascinating stories of his life, explaining about his memorabilia which are on the walls round the breakfast area.

If you're not looking for the fanciest hotel with all the latest
high-end furnishings and restaurants, then this is the place. On a quiet street with a small secluded garden and rooms that are comfortable, clean and well maintained, with
affordable rates. The owner is a former show business personality with an interesting past that is there every morning to greet guests attending the included continental breakfast.
Around 10 minutes to downtown Sedona so it's at a good location.
Since it only has 12 rooms, advanced reservations are recommended. We stayed 7 nights and would stay again, for sure.

...walls are paper thin. If you want to hear you upstairs neighbor snore, or a car alarm outside, or the folks at breakfast next store in exchange for a very clean, nicely remodeled QUEEN bed and great shower (with a super convenient location, this is the place. Just know you get a little noise for the price.

Owners are excellent, one minor gaffe was quickly fixed, breakfast could fill you for the day if your aren't picky ( fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt and hard boiled eggs with juice and coffee.). Good movie selection on VHS.

We really enjoyed the personal touch by Dick Curtis (owner) who shared his life with us during breakfast. What drew us was the really nice Jacuzzi which we enjoyed after hard days of hiking which was our reason for the trip. The hotel has not been updated so it is true that the TV etc are old and the you will likely hear upstairs neighbors. Overall, for our needs and a price somewhat less than other properties with a jacuzzi we were very happy with our choice and will stay again - possibly asking for upstairs room.

Overall, this place was a mixed bag. On the one hand, the owners are amazing and sweet. It is a husband and wife, and the husband use to be in show business (TV, etc.). So, he has met some amazing people and has some even more amazing stories. He is full of energy and great fun to listen to for hours. He seems to truly enjoy sharing all about the photos on the breakfast room walls. So, that is why I gave the Service an "Excellent."

On the flip side, the room was small and had a VERY strong odor of food (perhaps burnt popcorn). In addition, because it was on the lower level in an older building, we were constantly awoke VERY early in the morning by squeaking boards and thumping around. The TV. in the room is an old, tube-style TV....but it is functional. The shower was ok, but had an old shower head AND a curtain bar that was literally taped together.

So, while I really loved the owners (and the breakfast was ok - continental), I wasn't overly impressed with the room.

We stayed here for a night and found it adequate. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was bigger than we anticipated. Unfortunately we could hear the footsteps of the room above us all night, or else I would give a 5 star. There's a small little garden outside and a tiny, tiny pool (named the "spa area"). The area is very quiet and peaceful, as the inn is located on a residential street.

The hotel owner is a retired actor who worked with many of the greats (Ella Fitzgerald, Andy Williams, John Wayne) and was thrilled to give his "60 years of history in 60 seconds" in the small breakfast room, which was plastered with pictures from his career. We had delicious muffins, oatmeal and fresh orange juice as he gave his speech. He was extremely kind and funny, and before he left wanted to autograph some photos as mementos for us.

Overall this inn was adorable an suited all our needs; I plan to stay here again when I am in Sedona.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are preferable, as you will not have anyone above you to cause footsteps!

Small and locally owned. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was very large. Nice bed and bath linens. About a block off the main road and we walked to a local hangout for dinner. Very reasonably priced and very comfortable. If your neighbors are loud you will hear them as the walls seem a little thin. There is a frig and micro along with a coffee maker. We prefer "mom and pop" places instead of chain hotels and we don't usually repeat stays as we like to experience new places, but we will come back to this one.

Room Tip: Our room faced the hot tub side and I guess the rooms on the other side are noisier.
