“Peaceful cozy private cabin for two!”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

This was our first overnight stay in Sedona, celebrating our 25th anniversary. Gracious hosts welcomed us with spot on recommendations for hiking close by. The cabins are well appointed with just what you need for a stay and, a welcome escape from the connected world: no phone Internet or tv! The setting is relaxing. Beautiful gardens and myriad colorful songbirds. We enjoyed the private porch for a glass of wine. Woke to the cool canyon air and the sound of raindrops. How relaxing! The breakfast was scrumptious too.

From the moment we stepped out of the car we knew it was going to be exactly what we wanted. The grounds were extremely lush and well kept. Everywhere you look there is a fruit tree, or grass, or a hummingbird feeder that will mesmerize you for hours. The cabin was pristine and full of everything you need. We enjoyed our own back patio both upstairs and down. We relished in the nature sounds during the night by leaving our loft patio doors open to feel the cool air at night. We took Mike and Milena's advice for hiking and visiting Montezuma (use them! They know what they are talking about!) They are experts! We saw what we came to see and we did what we came to do. Mike and Milena are wonderful hosts. They are really good at cooking too!!! If you don't get a brownie...I"m sorry you missed out! We were minutes from downtown Sedona, seconds from Oak Creek (actual creek), and a short drive to all sorts of other amazing AZ areas that you should not miss out on. We plan to come back every year for our anniversary. Thank you again!!

Room Tip: The "Sycamore" cabin is a loft cabin with a nice two person jacuzzi tub. There are three...

Spent 4 nights here in May and had a wonderful time. Sycamore Cabin met all our needs and we were only sorry that we didn't spend enough time there to enjoy the balcony. Breakfasts were lovely - great muffins and a different savoury dish each day. Best of all was the company of Mike and Milena. They were able to help us get the best out of the area and even sorted out an emergency dental appointment for my husband on a holiday weekend. If we ever return to Sedona we won't look any further for our accommodation.

Thank you for your generous review. Even I found out who is the dentist to call on a weekend emergency. And thank you again, for your thoughtful gesture of the gerbera daisy. I planted it in our garden.

We visited Sedona for our 10 year wedding anniversary and stayed in the Morning Glory cabin. Everything about this place is amazing! From the hummingbirds right outside your window, to the beautiful plants and flowers all over the property, and top it off with gracious hosts who make you feel like friends right from the start. We will definitely be back, and there's no other place we would stay. Thank you so much, Mike and Milena!

This was our second stay at Canyon Wren. While we did miss the previously wood burning fireplace, because it was summer, we would not have been using it anyway.
My husband really enjoyed the brownies they bake for you!
Our cabin's loft (bedroom) was upstairs, the bed was very comfortable, and there was a nice walk out deck with chairs.
If you go here in the summer, know that they only have evaporative coolers (not air conditioning). When it cools down at night, you can turn off the cooler and open the windows. On one of the nights that we did this, it was evident that there were children and other guests having a very good time outside.
It was really fun watching the hummingbirds. At one point we counted 12 birds, all trying to get at the feeder right outside our window.

Hello Munster, Indiana.

Thank you for staying with us again and for your review. We also miss the "real" fireplaces in the cabin, but Mike does not miss the chopping, stacking and cleaning at all. We plan to put in air conditioning next year, so I much appreciate your comment about cooling. We have very little control over the outside noises and the ac will help to alleviate that factor next year. Unfortunately, life happens all around us.

We stayed in a Chalet Cabin and it was wonderful, with fireplace, full kitchen, ample seating, and a tub for two. There were also 2 small patios, outside the kitchen and on the 2nd level outside the loft bedroom. We had out breakfast on the loft patio both mornings we were there and it was lovely with some view of the red rocks and being surrounded by trees and birds. There is not much privacy on the patios as you will be visible to other guests (and they to you) but given there are only 4 cabins and the main house, it's unlikely you'll have to look at someone else eating their breakfast, too.

Mike and Milena were lovely hosts. Breakfast was simple but more than adequate. If the Red Rock Slide Park gets too crowded for you, just cross over from the chalets to the creek. It's a short walk down the hill to the creek, and you can hang out in relative privacy on your own.

A really nice experience and definitely worth visiting again.
P/S there is a hammock for 2 in the common garden area!

Hello San Francisco:

Thank you for your thoughtful review. Mike and I always try to be honest in our conversations with our future guests re the lack of perfect seclusion. We are a small property and when my Dad and I designed the location of the cabins on our 1/4 acre, we did our best to turn the cabins in such a way as to give the most privacy to all.

We are two busy teachers ready to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and also looking ahead to another year of teaching and ministry. Some time away was what we wanted, and The Canyon Wren was perfect. Easy access to Sedona and lots of great hiking. Cozy, clean rooms with delicious breakfasts and wonderful conversations with Mike & Milena and other guests. Fresh air & wild blackberries ready to be picked along Oak Creek. Ever-present hummingbirds, finches, and other beautiful birds at the feeders and in the trees. Even the afternoon thunderstorms of monsoon season cooperated. We never missed a hike due to rain, and we got to enjoy the mountain scents after the storms. We worried a bit about booking a place we'd never seen before, but we shouldn't have. All the positive reviews are no accident. We can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We stayed in Mourning Glory, but I really think the other rooms would have been the same.
