“6 STARS!!!!! Amazing”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

The cabins are immaculate!!! I mean IMMACULATE!!! The owners (Mike & Milena) are welcoming and down to earth. We stayed in the Sycamore cabin and found it to be perfect! Better than any 5 star place we've stayed!!!! Mike's brownies are amazing! The little details Milena puts into making each couples stay is one thing that makes this such an amazing place to stay!!

We had such a wonderful stay at the Canyon Wren. The cabin was so cozy and so welcoming after a long day of sight seeing. Mike and Milena could not have been more cordial and welcoming. They are a wealth of information of what to do and see and where to go. The breakfast each morning was incredible and the brownie the greeted us the first day was first rate! Would not hesitate to recommend to others! Thanks so much for a memorable stay.

Just what we needed! A respite and recreation in the middle of a brutal Wisconsin winter. Cozy cottage was perfect sized and immaculate. Mike and Milena were personable, understanding, welcoming. Hearty and tasty breakfasts. We cooked our own meals in the well fitted kitchen and shared wine by the fireplace. (Wish fireplace was not an electric model, but understand the risks and maintenance) Scenery mind-blowing. Love the drive to this place with the red mountains and pines all around. Birds everywhere! We will return sooner than later. Thanks.

Room Tip: Suggest the little cabin for those who don't like or can't do stairs.

Hello you two temporary snowbirds...Maybe you are back in Wisconsin by now and the weather is more normal for this time of your year. Our weather continues to be remarkable and surely can't last much longer. We enjoyed what little time we spent with you very much. Red is a great color on you. Thank you for your thoughtful review. We look forward to your next visit to warm up.

We stayed at Canyon Wren just one night. It was such a delightful place! The cabin that we stayed in was Hibiscus. It was warm and cozy with a kitchen and fireplace. It was immaculate too. We really enjoyed meeting the owners and having breakfast with them. We felt like we had known them forever. My husband and I would highly recommend Canyon Wrens for a short or longer stay in Sedona. We are hoping to make it an annual visit.

I came to Sedona looking for some rest and renewal this past June. How fortunate I was to find Milena and Mike's cabin! It's secluded along the canyon, beneath spectacular cliffs. The hammock and fountain were totally relaxing. Milena was the perfect hosts, providing not only great guidance of where to go in the area, but a listening ear. When I wasn't around for afternoon snack, they had left me two of Mike's incredible oversized brownies. I definitely would return.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Honeysuckle cabin--modern, clean Arizona canyon decor, extremely comfortable, relaxi...

So, at first glance it is hard to believe everyone who reviewed the facility would be happy and rate a 4 or 5 for all things. But, from the first phone call for reservations to the morning we left (sadly) I could see why everyone rated it so highly.

The reservation process was easy and since it is such a small facility, I wasn't expecting a cancellation policy, and while I was hoping to to have to use it, there was a 72 hour notice for cancellations. We have a 2 year old and illness can strike anytime, so that was a comfort. Thankfully we were able to make it up about 3:00pm on Friday and Mike and Milena were waiting for us in the office. We were assigned the Sycamore room, it will forever now be one of our favorite vacation retreats. Upon arrival, Milena gave us very good directions to all the great spots for light to medium hiking, shopping, restaurants and things we had already checked out online and desired to see. She provided us with a map and a pass for the National Parks, the State Parks require extra fee in case you visit them, including Slide Rock, not much for the swimming this time of year, but the walk was lovely.

Our first night, we turned on the electric heat fire, while a real fire is nice, it doesn't leave the smell or the clean up behind, and the electric fire was "real" enough for us. We played the provided board games, talked and just relaxed with some tea. The cabin is equipped for longer stays, including a medium size refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, stove top with provided pots/pans, teapot, dishes, silverware, wine opener, coffee cups, champagne flutes, wine glasses and other items, including grilling equipment for warmer weather visitors. There was even a pasta strainer. Inside upon arrival Milena had homemade brownies - delicious.

I brought extra pillows for myself knowing I would need them and realizing this was not a large hotel I can go ask the front desk, but to my pleasant surprise, there were 2 more pillows in the chest of drawers along with another blanket. How thoughtful. The beds are queen size, get cozy with your significant other! We knew about the lack of cell/internet/tv service and that is one of the main reasons we chose it. Cell service is readily available in town and other areas, and they provide a hard line telephone number that is answered 24 hours a day in case of emergency back home.

This is a couples location, but right next to a "lodge" that accommodates families, and I would imagine in the summer you can hear families, but this time of year, it was quiet and lacking any noise except an occasional car on Route 89.

The drive to the town of Sedona is quick and you are only 1 mile south of Slide Rock State Park, if you want to walk there, that is an easy walk with some lovely paths on the property and beautiful views of the creek and the rocks. We drove to Doe Mountain and hiked up the 500 foot trail to the table mesa to see the whole area, so worth it.

Breakfasts were provided, muffins fresh baked, one day breakfast enchiladas, the next day vegetarian quiche with the muffins along with fresh fruit each day including pineapple, strawberries, grapes, mango, kiwi and raspberries! If you have food allergies, Milena and Mike will do their best to accommodate you and your dietary needs. Just mention it on your reservation call.

The property has 4 cabins, 3 two level and 1 one level. It has sitting areas for each and balconies on the 2 level cabins. They have a large koi pond and sitting area for warmer weather.

Inside, we had a large bathroom, well appointed with a jacuzzi tub, towels, soap, hairdryer and its own heat. Hot water was plentiful and while there is no cell service, nothing else is really that "rustic" about the interior. The first floor had a small sitting area by the fire with a love seat, lamp and chair. The kitchen area had the aforementioned items as well as a drop leaf table and 2 chairs where we had breakfast after retrieving it from the office.

The upstairs had a queen bed with very comfortable sheets and covers, a chair by the window, views of the river and the rocks behind the facility, a door to the balcony and many journals filled by guests of the past. Also, Mike and Milena had decorated for Christmas, which made it easy to find in the dark and added a holiday vibe to our stay.

I also can't say enough how comfortable I felt and it was so clean. I even "looked" for things to say as constructive criticism for future travelers, but we couldn't come up with anything.

It was the perfect disconnection from the "real" world and reconnecting with each other we needed. We hope to go back in the summer to experience the other seasons!

Room Tip: We stayed in Sycamore and loved it, if you want the 1 level, Honeysuckle, book well in advance!

Hello Erin:

Mike and I are very pleased and happy with your review of our little place. It is couples like you that make our lives so rewarding. After all, it is about your time together and how we can enhance that experience. As I like to say.."we provide the frame and you insert the photo". Be sure to stay safe out there and enjoy the new baby.

We truly enjoyed our week at Canyon Wren! Milena and Mike are outstanding hosts, providing everything you need, but in a very low key way, respecting the privacy of their guests. Excellent breakfasts along with great advice make the most of your stay in Sedona, plus the bonus every day of Mike's homemade brownies! Cabins are very cozy, comfortable, and with very nice baths and kitchens. We would be very pleased to return to Canyon Wren!

Room Tip: 4 well-designed and maintained cabins assure that you will be pleased with any one of them.

Hello you two from Kansas:

I can still hear the story about how easy it is for you to put up your Christmas tree..decorations and all. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on our little property. It was so nice to see you enjoy your stay despite your trip to the urgent care. What a trooper. Hopefully, the winter hasn't hit you too hard on your return. We enjoyed your camaraderie very much.
