“The Penrose Rocks”
Reviewed 14 April 2013

My family and friends stayed here this past week April 8-10th and was taken care of like a celebrity, breakfast was amazing, the owners and staff are exceptional and the view from our room the Coconino was out of this world. Peaceful, serene, breathtaking best describes the entire visit. I would highly recommend this B&B as the go to place in Sedona. Like I said in the title THE PENROSE ROCKS.

Stayed at the Penrose last week of March with my wife, brother and sister-in-law. This place could not be better, even if they tried harder, which I doubt is possible. We were in the Javelina and Kokopelli rooms which are next to each other, and got a reduced rate for booking the two rooms together. The rooms were first class. There is a hallway that we could lock and just keep our two room doors open when we wanted to - worked out great! Whitney and his staff are the best - felt like family by the time we left (kicking and screaming lol). The breakfasts on the deck were to die for, and the service was friendly and impeccable. Not sure there is a better view of the Red Rocks from any other resort in Sedona - from the deck, from the balconies, out back - nothing but gorgeous scenery. It was actually perfectly tucked away just 4 miles from the sometimes busy Sedona. Hiking, restaurants, shops are all very close, but like a world away when we would get back to The Penrose. Whitney took pics for the site and for us, let us each select a tee shirt (a wide assortment - free) and had tasty treats available every night at 8:30. My first time in Sedona but my brother's 4th - and he said best by far. If you don't stay here - you are missing out Can't wait to become a "2nd timer"!

Room Tip: Not a bad room in the place.

The Penrose deserves a rating beyond excellent. Outstanding at least - as close to perfect as possible.

The views are incredible and from every room. Even the high window over the entry door frames a view. Each room, the deck, the parking lot have views to dream of.

The breakfasts are delicious and 2 of our 3 mornings were warm enough to eat out on the deck. The pecan French toast was to die for. Plus drinks and granola bars any time you want from the refrigerator and homemade snacks in the evening.

The hosts - knowledgeable, friendly, great cooks. The other staff people were also very friendly and helpful.

The location is very quiet in a residential area, but close to restaurants and hikes. It is in the Village of Oak Creek, just south of Sedona proper. We found it a very peaceful and convenient area.

Our room was spotlessly clean, with a comfortable bed, a chair facing the view, a small balcony, double shower, large towels. We stayed in the Mariposa room. We needed the option of a 2nd bed, and the small couch folded out into a comfortable bed. We had told them we needed this and they had it all set up for us.

Staying at the Penrose added so much to our trip to the equally amazing area of Sedona. We highly recommend you stay there, too.

The Penrose Inn is a great place to stay while exploring Sedona. Located about 5 miles from the tourist area of Sedona, the Penrose offers respite from the traffic and a chance to catch your breath. The rooms are attractive with views of Red Rocks from every window and when open, the sounds from all the visiting birds in the morning replaces any alarm you may need to set. The staff is very attentive and breakfast on the deck was delicious and creative for the four mornings we were there visiting. We will return and enjoy the hospitality and recommendations.

Room Tip: We stayed in The Cocinino Room

I traveled here with my boyfriend in March for a romantic weekend/birthday getaway. The bed and breakfast was a great way to experience Sedona! I truly appreciated The Pope's hospitality throughout our stay. The breakfast each morning was absolutely amazing and dining outside next to the beautiful red rocks made it even better. We also loved the snacks that were put out at the end of the night. They were a great ending to the fun filled days we had exploring the area. I definitely recommend staying here for anyone who wants to be away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Sedona.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Kokepelli suite and loved it. The views from the balcony were amazing!

If there's a room at the Penrose, just book it now and save yourself the trouble of reading more reviews.

This place was perfect in every respect - spotlessly clean, airy, full of sunlight, private balcony looking out onto the mountains, constant stream of complimentary drinks, coffee, and homemade cookies, delicious breakfast, very warm staff, and the nicest, most helpful hosts imaginable. I actually forced myself to wake up an hour and a half early IN ORDER to hang out in my hotel room. If that's not a ringing endorsement I don't know what is.

We couldn't believe how awesome this place is, and would come back to Sedona from the East Coast just to stay here again.

The Penrose was the epitome of gracious hospitality and beauty. The rooms were very comfortable and sported balconies overlooking Bell Rock and the red mountains of Sedona. Our hosts were welcoming and informative and provided delicious snacks and drinks in addition to a gourmet breakfast each morning. We would have been happy to just sit back and soak in the views from the comfort of the deck or patio. Whitney took the time to take photos of us with the amazing background and sent them to us by the time we returned home. The travel snack and
colorful tee-shirt gifts were a total surprise and just another example of the thoughtfulness and generosity of these incredible hosts. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else if we returned to Sedona.

Room Tip: Each room was beautifully decorated and well-appointed. We stayed on the second floor and had fabulo...
