“Bike friendly!! The best bed and breakfast experience we have ever had.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2014

The hosts are gracious and open; very friendly and eager to share their knowledge of the area. The rooms are clean and elegant with stunning views and comfortable beds. The breakfast is far more exciting than I thought breakfast could be. What a fantastic way to begin the day! If you like to mountain bike, the amazing Sedona trail system can be accessed a mere two minutes ride from the Penrose driveway. And as a bonus, we had a fantastic sweet treat laid out for us every evening in the dining room. I would recommend this B&B to anyone and we're looking forward to our next visit.

My wife and I came to the Penrose to celebrate our two year anniversary. We had a wonderful time. Whitney the Inn Keeper was full of information pertaining to the area. His recommendations lead to a nice dinner at Cucina Rustica. He also recommended hikes in the area, if you get a chance climb cathedral rock it's arguably the greatest hike ever. The staff prepared delicious breakfasts both mornings and the view from our bedroom was awesome. We will be back someday for another relaxing adventure at the Penrose.

The previous reviews are spot on. We had a wonderful stay. The views are stunning, rooms well appointed and comfortable, and breakfasts tasty and indulgent. Whitney and Christie are warm and helpful hosts, with friendly help. We'd definitely return. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful experience at the Penrose. Whitney and Christie were outstanding hosts: Whitney had recommendations and experience for seemingly every hike in the area; Christie provided ideas about local restaurants, and her menu for breakfast each day was incredible. On top of their hospitality and knowledge of the area, the Penrose provided wonderful lodging. While our room was of just adequate size, it was very well appointed, and the house itself had every amenity. More important, it is situated in a particularly scenic and quiet locale: on a hill, almost directly beneath a high pinnacle; right at the edge of a residential neighborhood with no other houses or structures to the west and north; and with great views of local rock monuments – mornings in our room were spent watching the sun rise and color the various buttes and crests. All told, this is the best B&B we’ve ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Ask for the Coconino Room. It faces north and east: great views.

We had a very pleasant and happy experience at the Penrose. The food and hospitality were yummy, the rooms and common rooms are just lovely, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. We felt like family, and the surprise parting gifts certainly treated us that way. It is not in the hub bub of central Sedona, but we preferred it that way. Being in the midst of the red rocks was breathtaking.
For our fellow Jewish travelers, it was a short distance from a gorgeous synagogue with a great view as well. We attended Shabbat services and it was delightful.

Room Tip: I have some mobility issues, and requested a room on the main floor . It was lovely and I had no st...

We only spent one night at the Penrose, but we loved it. It really does have the best views around, and is nestled just below Castle Rock. You won't be disappointed. The hosts were great and the breakfast was delicious. The homebaked goods and the little surprise treats on our way out made the experience even more special.
