“Beautiful!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2014

We were a little hesitant to stay here after reading some other reviews. I'm so happy we did. Everything was great! We stayed in a studio. 2 adults a 16 and 12 year old. The condo was clean and very comfortable. Check in was great, no pressure for the sales pitch. Great service from all staff. We needed some additional blankets and towels and they arrived with in 20 min of our request. Do ask for a 2nd story unit, We had a pretty nice view but had we been on the lower floor we only would have seen parked cars. It is a little ways from the hustle and bustle of Sedona (10 minutes) but we preferred that. Sedona is such a busy place it was nice to get away from the crowds. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Choose an upper floor for best views. Studios are exactly as pictured.

This resort was perfect for our family reunion. My brother was able to book 1 1-bedroom and 2 2-bedroom units. First, be aware these are huge. The 2 bedroom units have a living room with a high-end (Serta) pull-out couch and a full kitchen complete with granite countertops and extra storage for groceries. The master bedroom had a full bath that included more granite, and a soaking tub. The extra bedroom in the 2-bedroom unit was a regular studio apartment, with a couch and coffee table, as well as a full bath and a kitchen nook with a full-sized refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and microwave, as well as additional dishes, flatware, cooking utensils, etc. Of course, this couch opened to a double bed. With the units we had, we could have slept 20, if we were all couples. Our family came and went in waves. At one time we had 11 people for dinner, and it was just like dinner at home. We only ate out one night, which saved us thousands of dollars. Our 2 bedroom unit had a balcony on both the front and the back, and opening the sliding glass doors in the evening gave us the most comfortable cross breeze. In April, we only had the AC on twice, and the nights were cool enough to turn it off and open the windows. As we walked toward my brother's condo one night, my husband and daughter encountered a javalina (who turned tail and ran off before I got the opportunity to see it), and we could hear the coyotes in the hills at night. The Gambel Quails were everywhere, as were butterflies and innocuous lizards, so while we were housed in comfort, you did not forget you were in a wild place.

We aren't golfers, so what did we do at this beautiful resort?

We swam. The pool at the top of the ridge catches a breeze so it is a great place to cool off before lunch, or after a long, dusty day in the red rocks of Sedona. We used the hot tub, too, secluded on the side of a hill, accessed by a number of easy stairs. My 80 year old mother, whose birthday was the reason for our reunion, did not go to the hot tub. But she had a huge soaking tub in her room, so why bother ;-).

We visited the Grand Canyon. We took the scenic route, driving up 89A through Oak Creek Canyon, stopping in Navajo country for gas and the Oak Creek Overlook at the top of the gorge. There we found a long row of tables where Navajo sold exquisite jewelry at amazing prices. If you ever wanted to pick up a piece of sacred buffalo turquoise jewelry, this is the place to do it. I was the sandwich maker for this group and distributed lunch on one of the stops on the way to the canyon. We also stopped at the Little Colorado River monument on Indian land, and used the cleanest sun toilets I've ever encountered. We stayed on 89 in Flagstaff and eventually headed west on 64, which becomes Desert View Drive at the east end of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The trip took us 2 1/2 hours, but could be done much quicker if you just go straight to the Canyon.

We chose the Desert View entrance because it is supposed to give you quick access to the park, in contrast to the entrance at Grand Canyon Village which can queue into long lines. We paid our fee (I think it was $25/car) and drove along the Desert View Drive stopping at every overlook and point. Because we were 3 generations, some of us stayed at the top, and the kids and my retired air force rescue brother, clambered about the points and the trails. We had dinner at El Tovar, a rustic luxury hotel that was built in 1905 and serves gently-priced ($16-35) gourmet meals. I had a stuffed Portobello, my son had buffalo filet, my husband a NY strip steak and no one had the quail. They are just too cute to eat. With wine and desert, our bill for 8 was $469, $569 with tip. We watched the sun go down in the canyon, and then took 1.5 hours to get home.

Other days saw us at Slide Rock State Park in Oak Creek Canyon. If you are smaller than I am, you will probably slide down the chute. I called it Stuck Rock. But it is a great place to play on a hot day. You can also jump from the high sandstone banks into the deep water of Oak Creek. Warning, it's cold! We hiked the Courthouse Loop trail while others climbed Bell Rock, feeling the power of the Vortex. We hiked Cathedral Rock. This is where I felt the extreme peace and beauty of our surroundings, vortex or no. We also took the jeep up to the Devils Bridge trail. If you don't have a jeep, add 3 miles to the length of the trail, for in and out on the rough road.

Our family has vowed to return to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. One week was not enough.

Room Tip: If you can handle stairs, you will probably prefer to be on the second floor, although all units hav...

We were pleasantly surprised by how great the accommodations are at the Ridge. We stayed in a studio and it was perfect for the two of us. We asked for a suite close to the pool and we were directly across from one of the 4 pools on the property. We were in such a perfect location....looking out on the golf course as well as the beautiful red rocks. The staff were great and very helpful if we had any questions. Our studio was well equipped with basic supplies to get us started as well as all kinds of dishes, pots, pans, etc. The suite was very comfy and we felt at home as soon as we walked in. We loved it here and we will definitely recommend it to our friends and family. We can't wait to come and stay here again in the near future!

Room Tip: A studio is fine for just two people but it you prefer a bit more space then you'd be better off...

Our room 1502 (2BR) had the most perfect view of the red rocks and over looked 18th tee box. Accommodations could not have been better. Pool is a close walk across the parking lot and hot tub within a short walk. We found the staff very friendly, courteous and helpful from the minute we checked in. We did the short Time Share presentation and didn't feel pressured into making a decision. Play the course and LOVED the day and enjoyed a lovely dinner after our game. The resort is about 10 minutes from downtown Sedona but in a lovely location. Can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: Building 15 2nd floor 1BR suite has an amazing view from patio. It is picture perfect.

We have previously stayed at the Summit but decided to try the Ridge. Our room 1805 (1 BR) &1805P (studio) were perfect for us and visiting family. Our room was fifty feet from the entrance to a gated pool which was heated. It was setup with kids in mind...water basketball, mechanical buckets that poured water down when a button was pressed, etc. Even with this activity, there were many younger and older adults who came. There is another pool near the check in desk with two nice barbecues.
My son played the golf course twice, I went with him once. We thought well of the course and enjoyed the spectacular views from one end. The concierge had green fee tickets for $89.
If you need anything do not hesitate to ask as the staff are super responsive whether it is to fix something, order a crib, or request towels. Your needs will be met in under ten minutes and usually within in five.
We also liked the central location to hiking dining and other activities in the region. It is ten minutes from I 17.
The room was well equipped with everything from dishes to blender, unfortunately, no mixer. Having a small washing machine and dryer in the room was very helpful. The housekeeping was exceptional. After being in the room a few days, I asked when the sheets were changed. The person at the from desk said, "on request." Given that other guests raised the same issue, this is a failure on the part of management to inform their guests. I say this as a club member.
There is a large Safeway in town for buying most of what you need. Be sure to get a Safeway card to reduce the price "bite."
Regarding room selection, it appears that the one bedrooms have better views than studios. The buildings across the street from building 18 probably have the best views.
We will return next year.

After reading several reviews, I found myself anxious about our stay. My concerns increased when I received the infamous call directing us to their sister property at Los Abrigados due to maintenance problems. However, except for the hassle of moving our room after just one night, I must say that I could not have been treated better by either resort, and ultimately enjoyed the opportunity to experience both resorts. Kristen at The Ridge treated us with the utmost courtesy keeping in constant contact and upgrading us to one of the best rooms, #1406, at The Ridge upon our arrival. They quickly flipped the room so that we did not have to wait until the normal arrival time of 4pm and gladly allowed us a later check-out at Los Abrigados and a gracious gift certificate for the local restaurant there. See my review on Los Abrigados to compare the two properties. 1406 at The Ridge was absolutely beautiful and immaculate with a stunning view of some of the magnificent red rocks of the Sedona area. I could have sat for hours on the patio enjoying the magnificent views and shadows that danced across the ridges. The room included a Jacuzzi tub, gas fireplace and a well-stocked kitchen with full-sized appliances. The weather proved too cold to swim, but the property boasts two nicely sized pools. Do remember that the property centers around a golf course so a constant stream of golfers may pass your room depending on the location of your suite. Select accordingly. The facility scatters barbeques throughout the property for an easy dinner. I highly recommend this facility; I hope to return again very soon!

Room Tip: Select 1406 for a stunning view!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your most recent stay here at The Ridge of Sedona Golf Resort. We were very pleased to read that our accommodations, amenities, customer service, and location met, if not exceeded your expectations. Your patience and tolerance of the fact that we had to relocate you to Los Abrigados due to maintenance problems with your accommodations here is greatly appreciated. Relocation of our guests is only done as a last resort, and only after all other possible solutions have been exhausted. We sincerely thank you for your recommendation. Looking forward to the next time you travels take you here again soon!
