The Sunset Chateau is an interesting concept - neither your typical BnB, nor a traditional hotel.
The three of us stayed in Sedona for 2 days in December and were hoping to find a nice establishment overlooking the Red Rocks. The Chateau did not disappoint and we were were thrilled with our stay.
Sedona is BnB heaven: there are numerous places you could stay at but only a few places have rooms/units big enough to allow you to stay with more than 2 people. The Chateau is one of these places. We stayed in one of the Premium Casita units (#18). The unit was very, very large. Excellent living area, great kitchen, and beautifully decorated bedroom. The second bed is actually a true, foldable bed. We had a great view of the coffee pot rock. The location is also ideal in my mind as it is of the main 'strip' and yet close to restaurants. You could even walk to a few restaurants. (less than a mile away).
Reservation was painless - all done online, and the owners are responsive to email requests.
Check-in was also easy and fast.
The Chateau feels more like a resort - in a way, it is a hybrid between a BnB and a hotel. However, I feel that it is not for everyone. Those looking to enjoy a more quaint stay in a smaller BnB, with only a few guests, all sitting at the same table should look elsewhere. The Chateau is a fairly big operation. The grounds (beautifully maintained by the way), are larger than any other BnB I have been to; Numerous rooms, and a large breakfast area with several smaller tables that are not conducive to interactions with other guests. If you're more of a 'private' person in the morning and want the BnB experience, then this is for you. While in some aspects it can feel closer to a hotel, the Chateau is not a full blown hotel either. Don't expect 24/7 front desk attendance or room service.
The room, the property, and the food made for a excellent stay. I would highly recommend the chateau. We could not have picked a better place for our Sedona vacation. The owner have managed to merge the BnB and hotel concepts together (they actually call it a boutique hotel (or BnB?) successfully. I would highly recommend the chateau.

Room Tip: #18 and #19 are excellent choices for a great red rock view - they're also conveniently located...

Truly memorable Bed & Breakfast Inns are usually niche-driven to a particular theme or region, coupling the distinction of privacy, efficiency, and charisma toward guests looking to get away for a while. It is a rare substance to have a place that inspires both. To call Sedona’s A Sunset Chateau your accomplice in stowing away from it all, in both shelter, decoration, and the transparent joy we seek in the simple virtues of a picaresque romp, you won’t find another establishment more suited to its environment than this surprisingly artistic haven and pleasurable getaway. With spacious, rousing accommodations, a year-round salt water pool and Jacuzzi, brilliant motif driven decor inside and out, and being treated like you’re the most important guest at the chateau – even in a room full of people – we couldn’t have been cared for with more sincerity, friendship, and pampering. Owners, Janet and Phillipe Buillet assured us that nothing of our stay was left to chance. From pointing us to spectacular hikes and guided ATV tours, to arranging VIP seats at Sedona’s Encore Theater where we listened to a breathtaking performance by classical guitarist, Esteban and his beautiful daughter, violist Teresa Joy, nothing could have made our visit more of a treat. When you add to this the charm of Sedona itself, with its quaint village atmosphere, fascinating galleries, and traditional Arizona mystique, you begin to appreciate what the brochures for A Sunset Chateau depict for the curious: “From a romantic getaway to a business retreat, prepare yourself for a departure from the ordinary.”

I have just returned home from 5 nights and days at A Sunset Chateau with my husband and feel so happy that we found this "different" place up on a quiet hill with a view (WOW) in Sedona. I felt drawn to this place because when I first called to inquiry I told the owner we wanted something "nice, but not your average fancy resort" and she said, this is the place and it was. It's not that it isn't "fancy" but it is not commercial. It is very warm and personable, run by a family, and also very well equipped and located. It is very quiet, the rooms are so well put together with so much care and thought and character. The gardens and pool/jacuzzi area and all the wonderful spots with hammocks, tables and chairs and umbrellas etc is so green and cozy. The owners are so sweet and caring. We had a great time.

Room Tip: Top rooms are quiet! Breakfast is freshly made everyday and is so "real" and good. Dining...

My wife and I were fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to stay at this outstanding bed and breakfast! From the minute we entered our room, we were engulfed in the culture of Sedona. The furniture and décor were what one would imagine one would see in the Southwest. The overwhelming feature, however, were the views! Looking off of the balcony, we were entertained by the beautiful grounds and pool area and the Red Rock in the distance. Watching the sun dancing off the red rock while lounging on the private balcony was just one of the many moments we will look back upon with great pleasure. The breakfasts were pleasing and never rushed. Conversations with Philippe were entertaining as well as educational. The location was central to all we wanted to see. I would recommend going to the airport, a short drive away, to observe a sunset or to catch a glimpse of the entire region. We look forward to returning in the very near future!

I spent 5 nights at Sunset chateau with a group there for yoga and hiking and really enjoyed my stay. The grounds are attractive, the view beautiful, the rooms enormous and comfortable, the staff so friendly and the food amazing. I would highly recommend this boutique hotel to others. If you stay here, there is an incredible hike trail that begins at a path just across the street that is not to be missed.

Beautiful room with every detail covered. DVD player, comfy couch, candle by the bathtub, etc. They even had extra blankets around the room and on the porch. Breakfasts were also delicious and it felt a bit more like a restaurant than the typical B&B where you sit at the same table and are forced to shmooze. Breakfast also has a beautiful 180 view of the red rocks. We'll be coming back and we shant be staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: Its worth an extra few bucks to get in room 19 or 21 which have the highest vantage point and the be...

Would highly recommend A Sunset Chateau! From the first inquiry by phone until time to check out, the service was some of the best I've experienced. Janet's knowledge and suggestions of restaurants and things to do was excellent! She even booked and recommended a time slot for our Sunset Jeep Tour. Be sure to request her lists of recommendations. They will be all you need to make your trip perfect.
Each morning we were greeted at breakfast (fabulous food ) by either Janet, Phillipe or Jean Christophe. They did everything possible to make our trip special. A lovely setting for any traveler!
