“Outstanding Vacation”

We stayed at Glendon's beautiful, custom home for five nights with our four teenage children, and had an absolutely wonderful time! Although we originally intended to not have our college student along, when plans changed at the last minute, Glendon accommodated our request to add him in, and provided a mattress and bedding at no extra cost! The immaculate house features incredible furnishings all created by the owner. Awesome hiking is available right out the front door. The fire pit was a great feature for roasting marshmallows at the end of a long day, and several of us tried out the outdoor bathtub. We would absolutely recommend this location for a vacation for a couple or family. Glendon was very easy to work with and responsive to all of our questions.

“Perfect location and house in Sedona”

This modern, comfortable house exceeded all our needs.
The was very helpful from our first enquiry right through to when we checked out.

The house is located a few kilometres from the main town (which is a bonus).
The huge windows in the house provide an uninterrupted view of the red rock hills the area is famous for. The balcony upstairs gives you similar views and a spectacular night sky for photography or a relaxing evening outside.
Each morning from the bedroom window we watched hot air ballons rising from behind a nearby mountain.
The house is fully equipped (kitchen, 3 bathrooms and laundry) and we wanted for nothing.
The best thing about this house was the view overlooking the red cliffs and hills in the area. Equal first was also the location being out of the main town on a quiet road away from the touristy areas.
We found no fault with this house and location!

“Ideal Sedona Stay”
Reviewed 2 November 2014 for a stay in September 2014

To call the Cliff House just a house would be a huge understatement. It has no less than three master bedrooms, four decks, a huge kitchen and living room area and a beautiful property. Situated right next to an escarpment of the famous Sedona red rock it also has fantastic views. Glendon, the owner, is a creative genius and some of the cupboards in the house are very unique. There is one red chair that is so comfortable you will want to take it home. This house would be great for 3 couples or a family and was also just fine for us, one couple.

The house is about a 10 or 15 minute drive from Sedona itself and the road is dark at night. I think this just adds to the feeling of being on vacation.

Glendon lives in a separate building on the property if any explanations are needed. The house has all of the pots and pans, cooking utensils and cutlery needed and even comes complete with spices, sugar etc. The bedrooms are spacious. The beds are comfortable. There is a BBQ. Everything one could ask for.

I would certainly stay again.

“Star of the Show”
Reviewed 22 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

Epic, awesome, magical.. The Cliff house residence in my opinion, is the only place to stay in Sedona. From the location right down to the top quality appliances, this is value beyond belief. The Cliff house made our visit spectacular, transcending our lodging experience from merely a place to lay our heads to the star of the show.

I'll start with the location.. When you make your first turn onto Upper Red Rock Loop Road you know you're in a special place, the views are amazing, as you wind down the short drive to the gated Cliff house driveway the scenic vistas reveal themselves like aces in a poker hand.. You've won the lottery! The house is located on a tract of land that was once the original homestead of the first pioneer to Red Rock country, a one Henry Schuerman, you'll pass his road as the canyon levels off and realize why he stayed... If you want to experience one of the four energy vortexes in the Sedona area the Red Rock Crossing vortex is just moments away and I do mean moments, everything you came to Sedona for is right within your grasp from the Cliff house, sunrise, sunsets, hiking, oak creek, red rocks, energy vortexes, the history of the place. It's all right here, this is a 5 star rental! Stop by the original Red Rock Cemetery (again, moments away from the cliff house) pay your respects to young Clara Schuerman (1888 - 1893) and then turn around.. And soak in my favorite view in Sedona.. You can drive around all you want, try to find the best happy hour with a view, sunset, etc., but I found the very best place to be for a sunset happy hour was right on the deck at the cliff house.

Now to the Cliff House.. I mentioned the top quality appliances, everything you need is at your fingertips. The three bedrooms, bathrooms and the kitchen are all nicely appointed, there is a nice stereo system that allows you to plug your ipod or watch the large flat screen with surround sound. The living room and dining room are wonderfully lit with natural sunlight between two massive sliding windows that allow you to not only look at the landscape but live "in" the landscape while inside. I found the property so magnificently designed that as the conditions change during the day, all the outdoor spaces and four different decks allow you a place to not only stay outside comfortably, but will treat you to some very appealing perspectives. The covered "level one" deck (right off the great room) is best suited for morning coffee and happy hour sunsets, the deck on "level two" we enjoyed for late night campfire conversations around an artistically built fire pit constructed of dry stacked native stone. The deck on "level three" has the sunken hot bath right off an upstairs master suite and is a very special place, it sits you down right at the base of an enormous red rock cliff, this deck is terraced with (you guessed it) dry stacked stone walls retaining planting beds filled with roses, lavender and native wildflowers, we used this deck as an afternoon retreat when then sun had passed over the cliff house and was low enough to be blasting in the covered deck area. Lastly, the "level four" upper deck off the second master suite provides epic star gazing due to the darkness, away from the other lit living areas and the big open Arizona sky! The artful design of the cliff house and the layout of the property invite you to explore every aspect it has to offer. These are not places built to fill space, but conversely, are specifically designed to help you experience why you came to Sedona.

The interactions with the owner and transaction went very smoothly, he was very responsive and informative prior to our arrival which helped alleviate any concerns/anxiety regarding the leap of faith we were taking based on a picture on a web page. But after our arrival and initial walk through including meeting Charlie and Coko the two very well behaved chocolate labs,.. It became "our" house and it felt like it!

Surrounding attractions like the Grand Canyon are easily within your reach on a day trip, quaint shopping for trinkets, souvenirs and actual "art" are plentiful in the "downtown/uptown" area and the restaurants are generally pretty good. We spent my wife's 60th birthday at L'Auberge resort for dinner creekside, but also very much enjoyed the food and "action" at the Elote cafe which is much less expensive and incredible food! Considering the expense of a "view suite" or cottage at a high end resort or a "box & bed" with a mini fridge on the side of the highway, the Cliff house is unsurpassed in the cost versus value equation when evaluating the options.

As you can tell, we absolutely loved the place and highly recommend it. After driving around for a couple of days "searching for Sedona", I finally found it right next to my flip flops one evening while watching a sunset from the deck & wondering how many I had missed while waiting for a table with a "view". The next morning (after coffee on the deck of course), we proceeded down to Basha's (the "locals" super market) stocked up and never left the Red Rock loop area again...

“Wished we stayed longer!”

We could not have found a more beautiful house to rent in Sedona. The location is off the beaten path enough to give you the feeling of private exclusivity - the views, the hiking, and the red rock cliff close enough to touch.
Photos of the house does not do it justice. It is spacious, yet warm and welcoming.
We stayed 3 nights, and spent every evening outside at the fire pit, drinking Arizona wines and star (and bat) gazing. We brought in take-out the first night, and barbequed steaks another night - the road to town has a lot of sharp turns so it was good to stay in because we were partaking in alcoholic beverages.
We selected this property because it has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths - two are master suites upstairs, and the one on the ground floor is a bedroom attached to the guest bathroom - no complaints from us, just an fyi so there are no tiffs regarding bedroom assignments when you get there.
There is a great hiking trail right outside the front door and we loved looking for heart shaped rocks.
Glendon was a great host and we felt privileged to be able to stay in his home - we felt like we were living in his private art gallery. He was wonderful and we wish him the best!!

We enjoyed 5 days of tranquility in this fabulous home built into the red rock cliffs of Sedona. The house is well equipped and comfortable, with a beautiful view out every window. Walk out the back door and hike the canyon, lounge on the deck in the hammock and sit by the firepit under a starry sky. I can't imagine a more idealic setting. Thank you, Glendon, for sharing your home with us.
