“Amazing Stay”
Reviewed 4 June 2010

I wasn't sure what to expect because of the word "Inn", and I am known as a "hotel snob" among family/friends, but wow, I was pleasantly surprised.

HOTEL - friendly staff. Great location, you walk out the front door and you are within feet of the shopping and restaurants. Free parking.

ROOM - heavenly. Clean. Comfortable beds. Large balcony with amazing views (be sure to ask for an upper floor). Good size room. Small refrigerator. Double sinks with plenty of counter space.

POOL - small, but a good size for cooling off and relaxing in the hot tub (aka spa). Towels are located right at the pool. A few lounge chairs, but not much pool deck space.

DINING - the hotel does have a restaurant located right out front.

This was a little slice of luxury for a small price. Very affordable for such a great location and comfortable room. If I return to Sedona I would stay no where else. I loved my stay at The Orchids Inn of Sedona.

Just had a 3 night stay at Orchards inn on a touring holiday from Northern Ireland where my wife celebrated her 50th birthday. She had always wanted to visit Sedona and had thought of staying at the Hyat at Pinion Pointe so was a little aprehensive when I booked the Orchards inn especially with the mixed reviews. Any fears were quickly dispelled when we checked in to room 313 on the 3rd floor. The room was as advertised on the hotel web site fully renovated. Yes it was over 200 dollers a night but well worth it. And as for the view it was simply breathtaking! We sat on our balcony and watched a full moon rise over Snoopy rock simply magical! If you want a memorable stay in Sedona book on the hotel web site and you will get what you pay for!

Ratings for "service" and for "rooms" are the average of poor service and great service; the average rating for room combines assessment of the first room assigned to us and the room we got after appealing to the general manager. In short, rooms on the bottom level of the main building have "patios" which are the portion of a walkway in front of each room, denoted with a small table and two chairs. Unless your room is at the end of the walkway (room 114), you cannot expect privacy when leaving your curtains open or when sitting outside to enjoy the glorious view. The view afforded by this hotel is awe-inspiring and if you have a room with a balcony you are set for a sensational stay. Ironically, the main building has the remodeled rooms and the satellite building of our reassigned room has yet to be remodeled, we were told. The room was great; the absence of a flat screen tv was of no consequence. This room had a notably comfortable bed, nice linens, towels, etc. and was very clean for the entirety of our stay. The room had a fireplace, 3 sinks, including in the kitchen area which was complete with refrigerator and microwave.
The #4 building was very quiet and restful. To be amidst lots of tourists, a variety of shops and restaurants required a one-block walk. Walking is recommended since the parking lot was quite full. We had a delightful vacation, thanks to the amenities and ambience of the Orchards Inn.,

This inn is a great place to stay for a moderate price. all rooms have a scenic unbelievable views. Room was always clean. It had a balcony, fireplace, two sinks (which is convenient if one person occupies a shower...actually 3 sinks with the kitchen area), tv. The Inn is located on the tourisisty strip with all the food and restaurants. BUT ALL RESTAURANTS EXCEPT FOR ONE CLOSE AT 9PM! we did not interact with staff too much, but when we arrived, they were really cool.
We stayed there and traveled to places from the inn. Canyon is about 2 hrs away. It is really convenient to get to the Walnut Canyon National Monument (Indian cave dwellings...must see!) and Wupatki National Monument (also Indian ruins...gorgeous place).
Piece of advice: Sedona as a city, is very poorly lit, so it is great idea to take a few small flashlights. Enjoy the Inn!

Just returned from 3 nights at the Orchards Inn of Sedona. While overall it was a decent hotel, we had a terrible first hour in the room. Attempted to switch rooms but given that hotel was full we had to settle for the one assigned (room 212...which if you are assigned and do not require handicap amenities request switch). Room was not recently renovated as the website claims. The bathroom was horrible. There were stains on floor, cracked tiles, and the shower was like bathing under a kitchen sink sprayer. No microwave or safe as stated and the refrigerator was broken. Ironing board was also broken. Air conditioner sounded like it needed a pint of oil on the belt and it did not cool the room at all. Not that I would have used the microwave or safe, but once things started adding up it becomes annoying to pay $140 a night for broken and missing stuff.

On the positive side the views and location are unmatched. Staff was super friendly even though we were having issues with the facility. The best restaurants in Sedona are outside of walking distance, but hotel is located a very short car ride away. If you can avoid it do not eat lunch or dinner at the attached Orchards Inn Bar and Grill. Overpriced and terrible service. The breakfast was good though. Side note, best place we ate at in Sedona was the Barking Frog...check it out.

Our stay at this hotel could have very easily gone the opposite direction and been fantastic had we been able to redo the first hour and stay in a different room. Recommend upgrading to the fireplace rooms as they are on the top floor and you would not have to hear people stomping around above you. Wish I could be writing a positive recommendation but it just didn't click at this hotel.

The guest was assigned one of our deluxe rooms as requested; however this particular room also has ADA accommodations. Although we generally reserve this room for those requesting ADA accommodations or for our elderly guests however, the hotel was fully occupied and the guest was assigned this room.

To accommodate the guest’s shower complaint, a new shower head was installed for his convenience and although he did not make us aware that he wanted a microwave, we do have them available upon request. (We have found that many guests do not want microwaves in their room therefore they are available upon request.) The guest’s refrigerator was unplugged and we plugged it in and if requested, we provide the guests with safe deposit boxes at the front desk.

Unfortunately, this guest probably received some misinformation from our third party associates including the in-room safes and microwaves. We encourage our guests to contact our facility or to make reservations directly with the Hotel so that expectations can be made and managed.

Orchards Inn will continue to provide our guests with excellent service and accommodations.

I honestly have very mixed feelings as I write this review. I feel like I have had the old bait and switch pulled on me.

When I booked this room months ago I thought that the pictures on the website and the fact that they touted a renovation would mean that when I opened the door to our room we would be impressed. I'M NOT IMPRESSED - for over $200 a night the room that we were given is old and not renovated. There isn't a flat screen tv like the one in he picture, the bedding is not the same as the one in the picture, the bed is as comfortable as sleeping on a board, there is a fireplace but there is also a strange kitchenette that we have to walk through to get the bathroom that is not connected to our bedroom. If I would have known that I was paying this much for an old hotel room I would have gone to a Super 8. Thank goodness we are only here for one night.

The ONLY redeeming quality of this place is the view and the balcony off of the room but I think that I would have rather saved the money and stayed at a place with updated ammenities without the view.

Really, really disappointed. :( They should have asked if was alright if they put us in the "old" section of the hotel when they took our reservation. Orchard Inn shame on you for pulling this on us. Hopefully this review will keep others from making the same mistake that we did.

It is unfortunate that this guest feels as though they were mislead.
More than likely, this guest did not book directly with our website or our reservations department and was inadvertently misinformed. When a guest books through a third party such as Hotels.com, Expedia, or the like, guests are provided with a “run of the house” room per contract; with direction to contact the hotel directly for any special needs.
To ensure that a guests expectations are managed, it is recommended that the guest visit the Orchards Inn website or contact our Reservation Department directly if they have questions, concerns or specific expectations. We have recently moved our Reservations Department to an onsite location and our agents are happy to answer questions specific to our property. Additionally, our website specifies each room type and provides an accurate representative picture of each room. Our staff is friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and ready to assist you.

The Orchards Inn is comfortable and has great views! I had a room on the first floor and looked right out onto some amazing rocks from the balcony (see photos). The room had a fire and was very comfortable. I was able to use the internet in reception which was handy. It is right on the main Sedona road, which is very touristy but convenient too. If I was going back to Sedona I would happily stay there again.
