“nice views”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

This is a moderate trail that climbs quickly to the top. Once on top you can cross to the other side of the mesa. The trail on the other side follows the edge for awhile and is marked with cairns but gets a little tricky to follow after awhile.

“A great, relatively quick hike with perfect sunrise/sunset views”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

While the next trail over, Fay Canyon, is undoubtedly easier for walking, the steepish but not terribly long hike up Doe Mountain lands you on a plateau from which you can see forever (in good weather) -- a perfect place to watch the beginnings of the sunset (so you'd be back down before it got too dark to pick your way down the path). We chose to start our day there, arriving about 7 am on a July morning, and at least 5 other cars were there before us. The trail is easy to follow -- it'd be hard to get lost -- and it's just a great little hike.

“Better than Expected”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We started at about 3:30 in the afternoon when it was slightly overcast. This trail to the top was pretty short with switchbacks and nice views all the way up to the top. Once at the top we started taking in all the views and also lots of pictures because it is just gorgeous. I will say this, READ THE TRAILHEAD MARKER. According to our "Great Sedona Hikes" book we had with us this trail was marked as a loop which when our hikers think of loop we think in one way, and out the other. This is not the case for Doe Mountain!! Their "loop" is around the top of the mesa, and you go out the way you came in. We hike regularly and stayed on the top of the mesa over an hour trying to find the loop down. A trail that was supposed to be 1.2 miles ended up being 4 miles!! Once on the mesa the trail around is not marked so if you do the loop be careful to note your surroundings. Even though we had some trouble this is well worth the ascent!!

“Excellent trail with magnificent views”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We headed out early in the morning and decided to give this a try since we had our two doggies. It was well worth the hike! The views are amazing. The hike was a little steeper that I thought and had some tight squeezes to get through but once you make it to the top and see Bear Mountain and all around you it is magnificent.

“Easy hike with nice views”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

$5/daily parking fee and bathroom in the parking lot. There are no real markings so you have to look for the natural trail. Once you get up to the top you can walk around freely but make sure you know where to return to the trail. We walked all around without making a note and got a little turned around. It is a nice easy hike and is beautiful just like all the other hikes in the Sedona area.
