There were only 2 of us, but saw many young families on the trail. It is a flat trail for the most part and goes deeper into the box canyon. The result in a nice rest and view on the Half Moon Overhang. It's open the first bit so exposed to a lot of sun then dips back into a treed area. Nice fairly straight path hike.

Our group ranged with ages from 17-75+ and everyone really enjoyed this hike. It was cool with shade but yet lots of wonderful rock views. The hike is easy and beautiful.

My son and I also climbed the rocks at the end of the trail and were able to look back through the valley which was amazing! On the way back the two of us also climbed up to the Fay Canyon Arch. This was a challenging diversion, but it only took about 10 minutes to get to the arch from the main trail and it was worth the effort.

Note: the parking lot for the trail is across the street from the trail head.

This hike was an easy hike and great for picture taking! Went all the way to the end of the maintained hike and got some beautiful pictures. Having the red rocks all around us was breathtaking!

My husband and I got a late start one day and were looking for a 2 to 3 mile hike late in the day. We were so thrilled that we found Fay Canyon. It is only 2.5 miles, relatively flat, and has many shaded areas. The best thing is the entire 2.5 miles is absolutely packed with fantastic views! We're moderate hikers, but this trail did not fail to please. We will definitely return to enjoy this again and again. Fay Canyon Trail is a little know treasure!

We took our 6 and 8 year olds on this hike because it was short and rated as an easy hike. Those guidelines were correct and we all survived without much complaining. It's about 1 1/4 mile in, with relatively no ascent. There's a little bit of climbing over some rocks, but nothing that we all couldn't handle. There's also plenty of shade along this trail - which is a huge bonus in the middle of the day.

About a 1/2 mile in, you can take a trail off to the right and ascend up to a natural bridge if you want. We missed it on the way in and the kids were too tired to try it on the way out.

We saw one family on our way in and about twenty hikers coming in as we were heading out the trail.

Saw a bunch of lizards and a couple squirrels, but no other wildlife. Of course, it was the middle of the day and they're a lot smarter than us and stay out of the heat of the day, I imagine :-)

If we were to do this hike again, we'd take out about an hour or two earlier (we started at 11 o'clock) and take more water. We had one water bottle for each of us and could have used more for that time of day. We finished the water we had and had more in the car - so were okay. Make sure to stay hydrated.

I would definitely recommend this as a great "starter" trail with little ones.
